  1. I have three of the Carney cases and getting ready to buy a fourth. I like the mirror backs as it allows both sides to be viewed. I recommend getting them without the dividers. Smaller models like compacts and '30s, you can fit four to a shelf. The bigger '60's and 70s models like Impalas, Galaxies etc. take up more room. Three will fit OK. But the center section could get tight on some of them.
  2. Not to mention the stock ride height. Any car is going to look goofy with larger diameter wheels at stock height. The '70 T/A could look sharp with the right wheels and a decent lowering.
  3. Thanx! I agree on the wipers. But, the kit wipers were above the rear edge of the hood which is wrong for an SS. If I had it to do over, I would have left the kit arms and just replaced the wipers. But, they don't show with the hood on. So, I can live with it.
  4. Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments!
  5. I always use rod instead of tubing. I either fishmouth the rod at the joints or drill a recess the same diameter to slightly insert the rod (depends on what I'm making). Then hit it with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. Makes a nice strong joint. No gaps to fill 90% of the time. When there is a gap, I fill with crazy glue like you.
  6. This kit was at or near the top of my want list for a long time! A big thanx to Revell for bringing it out! I first thought about just building it straight out of the box. But, that plan changed. I rarely, if ever, build the same kit twice. So, I figured I better build it the way I want while I was at it. I already had the colors in mind (Bright Aqua and White). On the body, I added a vinyl top/trim, corrected the wheelwell lips and filed/sanded to get a better fit on the grille, tail light panel and hood. Then it was just sand, primer and paint (Dupli Color Bright Aqua covered with Tamiya TS -13 and Tamiya White Primer). I decided I wanted my '68 to be different. Instead of the same old big block and four speed, I went with the blown/fuel injected big block, automatic and A/C from the AMT '68 El Camino Street Machine version. It also donated the dash, console and shifter. Changing the dash was more work than I anticipated. I learned the hard way that the dash from the El Camino is almost 4 mms wider than the Revell dash. But, it's the same width as the body. It's more accurate than the kit piece. But, it was missing one thing the kit piece had and that was the defroster/speaker detail. I cut that from the kit dash and added it to the AMT dash. I then trimmed off 2mms per side from the top of the door panels to allow the new dash to work. I also had to merge the consoles together to get a good fit to the floor pan. Under the hood was fairly simple. I added the dryer for the A/C and built the box to connect it to the fan. I modified a set of headers from an AMT '67 Chevelle Pro Street to fit. I had to rework the belt and pulley system as the piece from the El Camino had no provision for the A/C compressor. I made a down pipe from aluminum tubing . Then just added details. Not much done to the chassis. I lowered the front and rear, boxed the trailing arms, added Pegasus wheels and disc brakes. Thanx for checking it out!
  7. I'm the same way. If the stance is right, it doesn't matter what wheels you put on it. It'll look right. Wrong stance, right wheels, it won't look right. You got both on this one. Is the paint auto or hobby?
  8. What a stunner!! Beyond awesome and then some! I'd like to see some photos with the front clip on. Do you have any?
  9. I don't know which is worse on the Hemi in the video. The oversized wires or the distributor in the rear?
  10. I really like the "look" this model has along with the stance and wheels/tires. I especially like the color on it! Nice work!
  11. Just a kitbash with an AMT '36 five window and a Revell '37 pickup. The pickup supplied the cab, bed and wheels. A Revell '29 roadster supplied the tires. The five window supplied the rest. Paint is Tamiya Light Sand with a coat of pearl covered with clear. Thanx for checking it out!
  12. I have the display cases from Carney Plastics. They'll hold 21 models. I have them mounted to the wall in my garage.
  13. After cleaning, I take a loop of 1 1/2 blue painters tape (sticky side out), wrap it around my index and middle finger and lightly blot the body with it. You have to be careful if you have your interior masked. Learned that lesson the first time. Haven't had any debris in my paint since.
