  1. Are you sanding the entire body and sanding the primer before paint? It kinda sounds like you're having an adhesion issue. Also, pull the tape as soon as you can. As in minutes after you've sprayed the second color.
  2. You can get the Z/28 RS kit and leave off the Z/28 emblems from the grille and body. I can't remember if the rear spoiler was separate or not. Think it was. You'll already have a nice small block. You'll just have to come up with the rest. If you want the small block from the Revell Nova, I have one.
  3. Thanx guys, I appreciate all the great comments! Here's a few details photos.
  4. I think I started this about fifteen years ago. I got carried away with customizing it, ditched the cab and started fresh. But, that was as far as I got with it. I started with the panel van's chassis, floor/step board and rear section of the body. I used the pickup's cab and bed sides. The panel van section is glued to the pickup's bedsides. Right now, I'm fixing the mess I made on the rear of the bed. Don't know what I was thinking molding everything in on the rear and the holes for bullet tail lights. So, I filled those in and rescribed new panel lines. With that done, I turned my attention to the cab. I didn't want to make the same mistake I did the first time. So, I went with a more conservative approach. All that's been done to it is some shaving. I shaved the door handles, locks, wipers, hood emblems, filled the cowl vents, gas cap and deleted the vent windows. Much cleaner! Before Don't have a color in mind yet. I want it to be different from every model I have. Not going to be easy. At all. Hopefully, I can come up with something while I'm working on the chassis and engine.
  5. Can't wait to see this one in paint! What color do you have planned for it? BTW, I'm blaming you for getting back to my '55 F-100 project. ?
  6. What about the wheels from the AMT '09 Challenger?
  7. Thanx! This section was easy. Virtually no body work involved. The interior was kind of a pain. But, not bad.
  8. Thanx! No trick. The firewall is a separate piece.
  9. Really NICE!! I've never owned or built a Tamiya kit. But, seeing a model like this makes me want one.
  10. Very nice weathering work! It has quite a realistic look to it.
  11. Thanx! I can't remember exactly how long it took to build the chassis. I started this around four years ago. I think around a week or longer. Everything I made was my own design.
  12. Revell kit converted to a three window, chopped three scale inches and sectioned three scale inches. Louvers added to the hood and fenders. Engine is from the '29 roadster. Wheels are Pegasus. Tires are Revell Firestones up front with AMT Parts Packs on the rear. Paint is Tamiya Maroon and Model Masters Wimbledon White. Thanx for checking it out!
  13. That is one nice looking roadster Phil! So many things I like about it! Nice work!
  14. You just posted seven. Looks like you got it figured out.
  15. Willing to bet the owner has a mullet, wears wife beaters and still listens to Bon Jovi.
  16. How many people that build models aren't already aware of the flaws their build has? What's the point of telling them something they already know? Especially in a public manner. Is it really to help the person that built the kit or something else? I seriously doubt that it's "for the hobby". For whatever reason, people are more interested in talking about the negative rather than the positive. This thread proves that. I would bet my kit stash that I could slap a model together (doing my worst), post it, ask for constructive criticism and it would get more comments than some of the best built models. Only because people were invited to criticize. Some people just aren't happy unless they can criticize others and make themselves feel better.
  17. Only you would take a high dollar Escalade, slap horns on the hood and run it through the mud! Very realistic mud effect!
  18. I wouldn't use one from the Moebius '65 Satellite. It's got some wonky proportions at the top of it. Wouldn't the convertible frame be different from a hardtop?
  19. I would do it. They're just model cars. You may not get another chance to build the Road Runner you want. It's yours to do with what you want.
  20. Just how a rat rod should be built! Like you (until now), I've never built a serious rat rod. The main thing that's kept me from it is I'm not good at weathering. Still, I want to give it a shot sometime. Nice work on yours!
  21. I came up with a simple solution for the holes in the valley cover. I just took a piece of styrene rod the size of the holes, hit it with Molotow, stuck it through from the bottom to where it just stuck up slightly and glued it. The holes are filled and they look like they belong there.
  22. Thanx! I've never been very fond of the Vickie body with the sloped backend and short roof. The only reason I built this was to get rid of the parts from the parts box. It has given me another idea for a future build. If I ever get around to it. Now that I've looked this over a bit, I wish I had filled in the taillight and license plate recesses. Then added '39 tail lights to the fenders and the plate glued to the inside of the rolled pan. But, that's what happens when I don't study the body well. I just didn't take the time to do it.
  23. That's a nice looking Olds! I really like the subtle color on it. What is the paint color?
