  1. Yea a Pantera is on my procurement list... haven't decided wich one... I don't think any were produced as full detail kits as far as I know... As for the Lambo, I'm considering wanting to reproduce this. that is just a really weird combination of sexy and tough... one of my favorite looking vehicles from the rear ever!
  2. You're Welcome. As someone else mentioned above... it's good to invest in a food dehydrator preferably with temp/time settings. I just got a new one from Amazon and I love it... Cost about $50 Acrylics are also a fine choice ? I can vouch for Vallejo, Army painter, citadel, AK and Abteilung 502 I personally like Abteilung 502 best.
  3. Yea, still looks like it could be cool with some work.
  4. I got one of these today off ebay... Pretty sure it's a motorized kit. But it looks like it could be very nice.
  5. Well, I'm not gonna make it by today... so perhaps tomorrow. But from the looks of everything above I'm not super interested in any of it.
  6. Thanks! And congrats! I'll report my findings.
  7. I haven't saw any either. But I'm still going to peak in after work since it's close. ?
  8. Dammit... looks like I'm going to Ollie's today ?
  9. 35mph of given her hell!
  10. If you can deal with the smell (respirator) turpentine or lighter fluid can also be used. Another great option, but more costly is to buy a gallon of automotive enamel reducer. Remember that enamel is an oil based paint and can be thinned the same as we do artists oils.
  11. Oh yea, they certainly have came up with better ways to skin a rabbit for sure!
  12. That's interesting, I've never had it curdle..considering mineral spirits is essentially the thinner Testors used and what's in those tiny bottles they sell for a fortune. thinning the paint will in fact make it dry quicker. That's not an opinion it's a fact. The thinner you apply the faster it will dry. I've painted far too many miniatures with the stuff and I'm not waiting days to keep painting. Typically overnight.
  13. A Prova Countach... a man would have to really take his time and mess up the panel gaps and make the windows look like they were installed by an 8yr old with a caulk gun ?
  14. Steve in the future add a few drops of mineral spirits... its basically the original thinner. I buy it by the quart at home depot. Won't evap near as quick as lacquer thinner.
  15. I use lacquer thinner and mineral spirits to brush paint with enamels all the time. The best thing to do is mix it thin and apply a coat and let it flash before applying another to get coverage. Using Lacquer thinner to thin just gotta remember that it evaporates very fast... so work quick and in small areas. For longer work time use mineral spirits. Doing 1 heavy coat especially of testors gloss enamel is going to take a long time to dry. I would suggest a respirator be used because the fumes are rather unhealthy. Thin to win!
  16. If the car was street driven I guarantee it had a radiator and pump circulating coolant... or else it would overheat within a few minutes. Most guys would throw bags of ice on the engine... since alot were hard blocked, there wasn't a way to circulate coolant. They were mainly interested in cooling the heads and intake. The ice bags and fans are still a pretty common practice today.
  17. The fuel basically cools the critical parts valves, pistons etc... I know it's like that for methanol, but not sure on alcohol ? But on a top fuel car the sprak plugs have already melted away by half track so the engine is basically a diesel for the remainder of the run just igniting off pressure and residual cylinder heat. I would have chimed in about the Malco, but I'm not familiar with the car. But standard practice back then would be to hard block the engine...basically fill it with concrete. That increases structural interegrity of the block and keeps the temp up for better combustion..
  18. Well sure... but the "rules" would also allow the less advanced to participate with an already mid engine vehicle was my point.
  19. Well, it looks awsome! I love that Taurus also... that would be a sweet daily!
  20. I know it sounds ridiculous... but try getting a couple of balloons rub them on your head and keep them near the body when you paint... the static charge will help the dust stay away from the model. We used to drag chains and put them under 1:1 for the same purpose.
  21. Then my top 3 are Death Race 2000 Moonshine runners Early pro street
  22. That sounds sensible for sure.
  23. How so? It's open to all mid engine vehicles... go pick a lambo or something and be all set...
  24. So when do we get to vote or whatever? Or however it's decided... Would like to start pondering before January ?
  25. Awsome. Yea idk what caused what happened to mine... it had sat for several years before I got it. Then about 2 weeks later it started losing power on the way home, then started missing. 2 cam lobes were flat.
