  1. Very clean! Nice photography also!
  2. Looks great. Love that interior color contrast!
  3. Don't want to put the curse on you Scott but I had one a few years back, only had 37k on it. Garage kept. Bought it from an old lady. It was medium brown metalic with the beige interior. Drove it to get McDonald's one night and it wiped the cam... still not sure what happened as it had plenty of oil pressure. very bad memory. I just sold it as is.
  4. What does the substrate material below the primer have to do with it? Painting/finishing a peice of primed metal vs a piece of primed styrene is absolutely NO different other than size. Not to mention we paint alot of plastic on 1:1 also... mirrors/ door handles... bumpers. Grills... you name it. And if anything painting a model is MORE involved... because they tiniest flaws are magnified! Unlike a 1:1 where you can have a big run go completely unnoticed until you get right up on it. I'm not here to beat you up or argue... but your original post of "YOU CAN'T ASK THAT HERE" is just flat wrong... and it came off rude as hell. And as far as us guys with decades of real world experience sharing advice when asked? The OP is a GROWN man! He asked a question and if he chooses to accept the answers given that's his choice. He's a big boy. You yourself encouraged him to go ask on a 1:1 forum... what's the difference in a stranger there and a stranger here? I'm sorry if I come off as a jerk... but it just irks me when others are quick to snub someone rather than try to be helpful.
  5. I welcome you to make the distinction for the rest of us. I'm actually interested in hearing your opinion as to what actually makes it apples to oranges.
  6. Sounds like you are set then... I have an addiction to strings and styrene. I've been thinking about downsizing alot of my guitar rig. I mainy play through headphones these days and use a Helix. It's an unbelievable piece of equipment honestly. You can literally dial in any sound you can imagine and the sound quality of digital these days is unbelievable. The Fender Twin in that picture does sound great of course... but the Helix can sound just as good in headphones or at a whisper through speakers. And that's sadly a tiny portion of the paint in my shop. I've got so many Model master enamels and Citadel acrylics and AK products it's pretty absurd... (still probably over 1500 bottles) and still a few hundred spray cans as I've traded off alot recently. I do alot of commission miniature painting like Warhammer40k/ DnD etc... thats why I keep so much paint around... and because I purchased a HUGE lot of paint several years ago. .
  7. No problem. I kind of figured so. Tamiya and Mr Hobby both are not true water based acrylics... they can be thinned and cleaned up with water but they are actually alcohol based. One of the reasons they are so smooth and dry so fast. They can absolutely be thinned with lacquer thinner, alcohol... or even water. While Vallejo model color, model air, game color, game air and other acrylics like Army painter, Citadel, most craft paints etc... will curdle up when mixed with isopropyl alcohol. You can however use wood alcohol in small concentrations... just not isopropyl or lacquer thinner. Wish I had a local supplier of Tamiya and MrHobby... its really great paint.
  8. They are pretty sweet... and it's definitely going to have white wheels for sure. I'm debating on replacing these wheels with the some others from one of my fujimi kits and use these on that kut because it's a much nicer kit to start and the older style wheel would look better in white. Haven't made up my mind yet.
  9. Im just excited for whatever it may be. I'd like to suggest that we could also do a "death race 2000" type theme... Cars with machine guns, rocket launchers... and various gadgets designed to create great calamity for fellow racers! Or we could do crime fighting vehicles. Think of like the batmobile or black beauty or the likes, except we have to build our own... it can't be an established vehicle. So long as it's a vehicle that could support a hero/vigilante type character. Or Delivery vehicles, Could be any vehicle that is used to deliver goods... but must be branded. The brand doesn't have to be real world, could be totally made up... could be a panel van hauling ketchup for all that It matters.
  10. Yea, I'm not certain as to the reason... could just be lack of supply. Or lack of popularity... wich is kind of one in the same. Maybe we will luck out. I will keep my eye out for you.
  11. Beautiful color made better by great application! Well done sir!
  12. I respectfully disagree with the notion and I'm sure others with 1:1 experience would as well. I understand the perception that the 2 aren't related or the same but that notion isn't correct. Paint work on a model car and on a 1:1 is much the same. We prep do body/filler work and sand the body to smooth and level the surface, we prime, we wash and dry they surface then we paint... then we clear, using ( in alot of cases) the same materials. And we repeat any of those steps as necessary. We use the same method of compressed air to atomize the paint and propell it onto the surface wether that be via spray can, airbrush, or even a small hvlp detail gun wich I have used for models many times. Ideally we use the same spray techniques... re coat times etc... It's fundamentally the same, just on a smaller scale. The same things that will ruin a 1:1 paint job will ruin a model and vice versa... And alot of the remedies for problems are much the same as well.
  13. I know that MisterNNL has a whole blueprinted duo kit... but he wants oddball resin or one off stuff that I don't have unfortunately.
  14. I did manage the koach half of the blueprinter kit... but no dragula...☹️
  15. Man I've been looking for a whole kit and either no one has one or wants to give one up.
  16. New wheels just got here... the pizza cutter kit wheels will be banished to the parts box.
  17. Had to trim the top of the firewall to actually fit so the body will sit flush to the frame.
  18. Paint came out fairly decent... got a few spots that need buffed but serviceable. I am impressed with the new mini dehydrator! I love how the kit includes dual coils but only has a spot for 1 wire cap instead of 2... wich is certainly an option as some cars were converted to dual coil and dual cap adjustable ignition. But it also includes no cap at all, just a nub. So I had to do the down and dirty and break out the styrene tubing.
  19. You are more than welcome. I remember discovering it by mistake one day. I picked up a different handle than I intended with a Z blade and realized it removed material far easier when using the back side than the other blade I had reached for. Then I realized the difference in the shape. Then I realized that it's a intentional feature for scraping...after comparing to an actual scraper tool. I keep one in a handle at all times now mainly for the purpose of scraping mold lines. It's crazy why the normal blades don't have this feature. Happy coincidence.
  20. Yes! That is the perfect mold line scraper tool. I have a dedicated mold line scraper from Citadel for miniatures and its basically the same exact thing as the back side of that blade. Works fabulous.
  21. I could potentially have the right grill you need to do the swapping of that section. I'll check tomorrow and let you know.
  22. Do the z blades you use also have the mold line scraper on the back side? I've got some of the old Z series from years ago that have that on them... I do really like that feature!
  23. Good investment... they are on a whole different level of sharpness compared to any standard #11 And you can just buy the blades... a regular handle will work fine, just snap the back of the scalpel blade off with some pliers. I've been doing it for years.
