2022 Year Of Birth CBR Finished Builds
LL3 Model Worx replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Just goes to show what can be done with a kit that has plenty of issues. I really like the paint scheme/color choice... the wheel/tire package really sets it off though... AWSOME WORK! -
Paint sticker shock

And he I was trading off gobs of testors and only had 3 takers... ? I probably let them go way too cheap by the sound of it. -
Molotow Pens not Shiny
LL3 Model Worx replied to Olderisbetter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I bought a 1mm pen a couple years ago... and for the first project I used it on, it delivered fantastic results. I was blown away! But, next time I went to use it, the tip had apparently clogged as it would no longer flow... That's why I don't use them anymore. At that price I don't want to worry that it will quit working almost immediately. I tried cleaning the tip by soaking it in 99% Alcahol to no joy. I just use Alclad and other things now days. Though I Have something to post up later folks might like. -
You are very welcome, anytime. That box art is pretty awsome, but looking at the kit makes shiver! ?

2023 Cannonball Run Build Theme Suggestions
LL3 Model Worx replied to White Rabbit's topic in Community Builds
Love the Mooonshine runners idea... I have the perfect kit for such an endeavor. Probably gonna build it that way now with or whthout CBR because you said this so THANKS! -
A bit unrelated but. I Bought my wife a new camry for Christmas 3yrs ago... aside from using very expensive specific oil it has been a very good car. Just hit 60k and is as good as the day I bought it. I will say I don't really like how hollow the doors feel and sound when you close them but that's because I'm used to old heavy GM junk. And, I got a surplus of brownie points and it's not even electric...

Thanks, I've decided to go as far as I can and hopefully I'll come up with a solution for the missing parts. That would certainly work! I only went for the classic white because I wanted the more "off" white look. Like it aged and yellowed just a bit.

What do I need to do
LL3 Model Worx replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yup, you'll have no problem at all. -
Well, not that anyone cared anyway. But the build is now stalled. My kit only had one front and rear spindel and not two...so the search is on.

Decanted and laid down some Testors "classic white"... Now it's in the new dehydrator, trial run... fingers crossed ? I'm figuring 104° for 6hrs to start....

I found this in the attic of my garage today... looks like a great candidate for a rebuilder... as it's all here except the hood, front bumper and air cleaner... im not sure how long it's been there, or who built it... I've only owned this house for 6yrs.

You could also clamp it and use heat... I will say though there's no way you come back from that without some sculpting/shaping...

Hobby Lobby
LL3 Model Worx replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've got one "lhs" one county over from me. It is a hobbytown... and they have the same "idgaf" attitude that you describe... last time I went in was to buy some alclad because they are the only dealer that's local. The guy spent almost 10min before he would let me check out explaining to me why I NEEDED to buy Alcalds thinner... instead of just ya know using cheap lacquer thinner from home depot. I told him I'm glad they offer the product, but I personally do not need it... but he continued on... it was cringey and painful and made me not want to go back into the store. So yeah, hobby lobby and 40% has been a real nice thing for me also. -

Nikola Tesla... (not to be mistaken with the EV vehicle company, or its wanna be Bond villain owner) basically gave us the modern world as we know it... I also believe he gave us several ideas on how to sustain it.... But alot of his documents were siezed by the FBI after he passed away... wich they have admitted to and supposedly released it all... but I suspect they have held on to several things. Consumer technology is usually doled out in small increments in order to maximize profits. Just look at the iPhone and its ever so slight "improvments" from model to model... If you release the "end all be all" it doesn't bode to well for financial longevity. How many things are now standard equipment on even base vehicles that we used to pay a premium for? ? power windows/locks being two. But just remember, it's not some secretive group that harbors these things... its us as a society. If your neighbor works in that field he'd like to keep getting paid... and if you did, so would you... so. We are our own worst enemies folks. Just control what you can and move along because rest assured the world will keep progressing in spite of you/us. -
Cut two pieces of popsicle stick that length and sandwich the piller and clamp it... then flow some tamiya extra thin or equivalent in between the gap... leave it clamped until dry... then rescribe deeply and sand/ fill / scribe until straight. Here's some pics I made to kind of illustrate what I mean... Hopefully it will work out for you.

Or the fact that we have a relatively limited supply of lithium on earth that is now being depleted faster than ever since every battery powered device seems to use it. I'm not sure where they are in the RnD but there was work being done on these https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_radical_battery Pretty darn cool if you ask me... and far more sustainable than rare earth materials. -

I think it's no different than when a piano replaced a harpsichord... the piano was viewed negatively just like the EV's... I personally love me a big lumpy camshaft... but the sad reality is, it's not sustainable. The real problem we have, is there's just as much push as there is pull from those who support it and those who detract. Bill is correct when he says the infrastructure isn't currently there to support it... that is 100% true. Anyone who is realistic knows there's a real environmental need to get away from fossil fuels... its obvious at this point. Maybe electric is the way, maybe it's not? I don't know. Without getting too political... I'd say people need to take notice of the folks putting up every roadblock possible to progress in the area of infrastructure. It's only going to make the inevitable transition that much more painful. I find it amazing and ironic that no one notices or talks about the fact that when the folks who support the fossil fuel industry are in power, we pay less for fuel and the companies make far less money... and we pay more and they make the most money when the people who "oppose" them are in power. Ironic isn't it? Change happens wether we like it or not... so we may as well "lube" the progress to make it easier on us all. -
