  1. It's most important to build for yourself...not for others. If others happen to like it, fantastic that's a bonus. If not, oh well. That's how I feel about it at least. Besides for me it's not really about the finished model, it's about the journey and executing my ideas. Hell, I'm usually thinking about the next build part way through the current one. Because the journey is the excitement. When you finish the model that's all good and great, but the fun is over, and it's on to the next one. That's my .02
  2. I got the real deal a few months back for $700... needs some body work and paint though.
  3. Blew out both tires at once (sounded like a bomb) and then he kept trying to pull... caught fire... had to rush over with extinguisher.
  4. Dude that hurts to look at!! I'm glad you were able to "get them back" !!
  5. He has some awsome cars there... but not a dude I would call a friend. But I get your point! ?
  6. Looks sweet! Love the color!
  7. Thats an original 1982 model 2. George Lynch is my all time favorite player... its a must ?
  8. I know it's not ideal... but Amazon typically has a fair amount of Fujimi and Aoshima kits. I've gotten several ferraris from there.
  9. A disaster of a room... it's usually very neat, but its been about 3 months of crazy around here but today is the day it gets back in shape.
  10. A super messy bench that's in the middle of being cleaned
  11. Yea, makes no sense on the fast thinner thing to me either... As you know the slower, the more time it has to level and prevent orange peel. Which is mainly a problem with high gloss paints, not so much flats... Seems he has done it right the opposite of how it should be.
  12. Very cool. I live right here in Maryville... right between Knoxville and Sevierville. My wife works in Pigeon Forge for a cabin rental company.
  13. Imagine all the times you've had trouble getting even a 1/4" bolt started... now imagine this thing being like that... ?
  14. I've sprayed auto paint 1:1 my entire life...also haven't dealt with MCW. I'm betting the reason for using the fast/hot thinner would be he is getting a deal on it because almost no one uses it 1:1 unless you are in a very cold climate. It could very well be he is using 5 gallon cans of "cleanup" thinner... wich is a lot cheaper than color grade thinner per gallon. It also happens to be very hot. If you use it these days to spray 1k lacquer primer 90% of the time the primer won't adhere and you can literally blow it all off with an air hose. Ive seen it too many times. So yea, it's likely a cost saving measure, wich is nuts when you consider what he's charging.
  15. No one has mentioned Christine? How is that possible? Anyway that may be what I start on today...
  16. Where did you get a picture of my mother in law?
  17. Is that picture from Smoky mountain traders? If so that's right down the road from my house ?
  18. Yea its the turbulence of the air inside that space I bet you... I could be wrong though...
  19. If you are spraying into a boxed in interior tub (assembled sides) I wonder if a small "vortex" is happening in there and causing the paint to flash mid air. Try thinning and turning down your pressure more. Or just dialing back pressure. It Is definitely flashing mid air but the question is why?
  20. That's a pretty sweet arrangement you what got there I must say. My wife has become much more supportive of my addiction than she used to be... so I'm getting there.
  21. If it was 2k clear as in catalyzed... and had already kicked, then lacquer thinner shouldn't have hurt it at all... Now If it was fresh different story, but then I'd be suspect of the water also. My bet is he used a 1k clear.
  22. Really though, we have so many of the same kits it's ridiculous... you been beating HL to death on that 40% ain't ya?
  23. Hey man what are you doing with all my stuff!?
