  1. Same Paul. I've had some involvement with 1:1 painting my entire life and am quite decent at it. But putting paint to these kits still gets my nerves going pretty good.
  2. Man that is surreal. That's EXACTLY my story also... Dad gave me the kit and some orange engine enamel and the old tube of testors "glue"... it literally looked like paint and glue exploded inside a box of parts. It was the general lee kit molded in red. Probably circa 1996 or 7
  3. A little ho bath with some lacquer thinner outta do the trick ?
  4. In the winter time my work schedule allows for some good build time. I alternate weekends and work four 10hr days... so one week I work Monday-Wednesday then off Thursday and Friday and then work Saturday and Sunday. Then the next week I'm off Monday and Tuesday then work Wednesday-Friday and off Saturday and Sunday...rinse and repeat. So from October- April/May I never work more than 3 days in a row without 2 days off and my wife works mon-friday so I get alot of alone time. And I spend 90% in my hobby room. The warmer months is alot tighter on time.
  5. I started with an old computer desk from the 90s... so made it easy not to really care if it gets messed up. But I also have a mat. I've actually gotta straiten my stuff up when I get home. Its getting bad and hard to work.
  6. That's a gorgeous model Steve... it always hurts when one of the good ones takes a hit. I built a 78 pro street Camaro when I was around 12 it was the best build I had done to that point and had a glass paint job (used automotive gun and paint in my Dad's body shop) well I sent the model off with a friend who was going to a somerset to enter it into a contest. I took second place with it and won a white ribbon and a kit. Well, last year... my cat decided to explore the more elevated environments in my home and knocked it off about a 7ft high shelf...where it crash landed on my desk and then to the floor. It broke the glass, brok the T-top post the driver side a-piller... both back wheels and the carbs and bug catcher. It's been in a box... awaiting a body shop diorama scene... there's no fixing it.
  7. Dang, you were literally right down the road from me! ?
  8. I've got kits in the stash from nearly every manufacturer like alot of yall...for me it is subject matter and more importantly what kits I find for a good price... I hunt cheap kits constantly. I will say that every manufacturer I've dealt with has there idiosyncrasies... but thats part of the fun for me. Looking at a box full of plastic and trying to figure out how to make it better. If it's already top notch, that's great but I find myself less motivated by it. Fujimi does seem to consistently produce extremely well engineered kits as far as the crispness of the details and such. And the wheels and tires they usually come with are pretty phenomenal mostly. While I still have plenty of MPC stuff, I'll say that it more times than not requires more work than it's usually worth as far as producing something accurate. I mean more power to those who do it... but I typically use their kits for "what if" builds and other custom stuff that doesn't need to live up to scrutiny so much. But...they are ALL fun! Even the stinkers!
  9. I think the one I originally did years ago I glued the window in at the bottom and scratchbuilt one of those "visors" to go over it to hide the gap. My next one I'm gonna chop the top so no issue with the window...
  10. That image is completely computer generated for sure. Looks at first like it could be a real object but the reflections etc (especially in the windows) give it away.
  11. Yea, the not doing anything about it is the real head scratcher... I mean I'm not sure the problem was their when it was originally tooled but it's been a known problem for a LONG time none the less.
  12. I'd like to see the size of that torque wrench!
  13. Man there's some real tragedy and some good laughs here for sure! I forgot about the time I was laying down the paint on this nova when i made the discovery thay a tamiya paint stand will just completely fly apart without warning! Thing went straight on the garage floor on its roof... luckily I managed to wet sand and respray. But man was I not happy with Tamiya and have since epoxied my stands together!
  14. That's a pretty awsome idea!
  15. That too could also be worth a try! I'll likely try both and report my findings here.
  16. Thanks, I do enjoy a good burger... especially like the one pictured above 40% beef 40% venison and 20% bacon fat. The buck bagged last season and the quarter cow I bought is still feeding my backside this year! Your ensemble sounds damn good if I'm honest... I had homeade andouille sausage/lentil soup 3 nights ago... made in croc pot 10hrs. Very tasty.
  17. No problem. I honestly couldn't remember myself. I hadn't opened that kit since the day I got it. Wich was right at release.
  18. Nothing special here... just a bacon cheesburger with avacado a cilantro lime and garlic mayo and jack cheese on a toasted bun. Washing her down with a New Belgium JUICE FORCE IPA.
  19. Just confirmed It appears they added these little locators but I'm not sure what good they did... it does seem a tiny bit better than before... but still a complete mess.
  20. Man, that is an absolute awsome tip! I wouldn't have even considered that. Thank you!
  21. It's the same in this release if I remember right... haven't had it off the shelf since it first came out. But yes I'm pretty certain it's the same ill fitting part.
  22. The linberg 37 custom Ford has a pretty nice 1/24 scale small block... its like a tpi motor but swapping intakes would be easy enough...
