I heard this morning from a good source, that Honda and Ford are likely shutting down by monday... If so the big Denso plant here in town will be closing also. I think the faster everyone stops moving the faster this stuff goes away, but then again I'm no expert. I hope all you folks stay healthy and keep your families safe... Civil responsibility is so crucial right now, and I really hope people realize it, and make the necessary concessions to end this thing in as timely a manner as possible. It's obviously gonna hurt, it already has in alot of instances, but I personally feel, that we are all gonna have to hurt together for a while.

The one thing I have learned from all this craziness is just how unbelievably selfish people can be... People with the "don't affect me" attitude that could literally extend this bs on for months on end because they simply refuse to just stay home or away from others. It's pretty sad when a store has a tractor trailer load of products and 5ppl buy the whole lot... and then those in need do without. And then, we have a parts manufacturing plant here that is doing absolutely nothing to combat it, and refuse to until ordered by the state (which has yet to happen)... Corporate greed at its finest...

I should find out today if we are going to shut down... at this point I don't care either way, on one hand the money is nice, on the other "vacation" is VERY nice.
-
If it comes to that I will. We will not make a definite decision until tomorrow, so maybe all will be ok... either way I'm gonna be perfectly fine, I could use a little RnR anyway.

Probably gettin laid off in the next day or two... thanks Coronavirus! But, hey maybe I can get some bench time in on my mandatory unpaid vacation... Really wish someone would flip the crazy switch very definitively in th OFF position!

The headlights were actually a mistake on my part... I tried to white wash them, and forgot to back them with foil... they turned out terrible haha!

2020 Cannonball Run Build Thread!
LL3 Model Worx replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Short bursts (absurdly short lately)... story of my life. -
Thanks a bunch for kind words and the tips, I really hadn't given the light placement much thought. I'll try these suggestions. And yea, there are some crazy fans around here...not me, but my wife is a nut about the white and orange. Hope this helps your brother see the value in the work you (we) do also.

2020 Cannonball Run Build Thread!

Yup... Of the 4 Daytona's used on screen, not a single one is the same... and finding photos always reveals contradictions and changes that were made after filming... So, like Bill said, I just go for the most accurate I can. -
Thanks for the tips! I've also acquired a new camera now, so photo quality will be improved by default. I'm currently making a small "photo box" with built in LED lighting. Tour bug looks awsome btw! Really like that color combo. Thanks David, I'm glad you like it.

Need Tips on Working With Enamels
LL3 Model Worx replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've been having good luck with testors/ model master enamels... Using lacquer thinner will help with the cure time, but I still have to play the waiting game for at least a few weeks. I've heard of the dehydrator method, but I'm fairly patient (acquired over time) so I prep and paint my body colors first, so I can build the rest of the kit while it does its thing, so that helps with the waiting also. I absolutely do NOT reccomend using testors spray cans... they are absolutely junk. The paint inside is great stuff, so decanting is good, but the can itself as a delivery method is terrible, and doesn't allow for using lacquer thinner to aid in drying time. LMCPP Light mist coats, patience, polish out. -
Best scale engines??
LL3 Model Worx replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maybe BNL resins, and perhaps shapeways. There are quite a few good engines to be had in kit form... especially if you aquire aftermarket carbs/intakes/headers etc... For example... AMT GTX has a pretty decent Hemi, and also wedge motor (externally the same)... 413, 426, 440 etc... Revell has a pretty darn good big block Chevy... Look at some of the builds on this forum and find engines that you like, then PM the builder directly and inquire about what they used and where they sourced their parts. I find that's alot better option than making a quasi vague post that could and has yielded questionable results. Fireball makes some pretty darn good carbs...etc. they have some of the best non 3d printed holleys I've ever seen. Best advice I've got for you... ymmv. -

Where to buy model car kits???
LL3 Model Worx replied to 2zwudz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I go every other week on Thursdays to Hobbly Lobby, Ollie's, Michael's and about every 4th time Hobbytown. I call it "making my rounds"... lol my wife hates it. So, depending on what's in stock, or what kinda of price is on the box... I come home with a few kits at a max of about $14 each after utilizing each stores respective coupons. As far as online... occasionally amazon, plazaJapan, and Ebay. -

The carb linkages are pretty good imo. DM have been around for years, and usually put out good products imo as well. -

That is the plan, but I'm not certain how I'm going to replicate them just yet. Making them should prove fun... I've actually watched your videos where you built yours Daytona a few different times. I've actually been watching your YouTube for years lol. You do phenomenal work! -

I have got the dash pad removed, and now have to back fill and putty. Have to cut out the vents, reduce the number by 1 and move to where I have the black dots marked. Also plan to make some "bezels" for the vents to give them the right height/shape... The body is nearly ready for the 1st coat of primer, hoping I can get that done by the weekend. Cutting out the headlights is proving to be a pita... but I figured it would. Hopefully I'll have more of an update soon. -
