  1. Somewhere in my heap that I call a model room I have a jig I made several years ago for a camaro I was working on... It's basically a small piece of maple with various sizes of nails driven into it from 2D-60D and it worked pretty good for duplicating bends that needed to be consistent. I've used it with lots of different wire... From solder wore to guitar strings and lots in between. If I could find it I'd show a picture, but its easy enough to imagine.
  2. Pics or it didn't happen ?
  3. Yea its became more economical to buy their paints by the quart... I racked up several quarts of various colors and 2 clears at Ollie's for $7 each. Keep an eye out at Ollie's when you go. They sometimes have quarts of paint and still sometimes cary Plastikote in spray can... for those that don't know it's fantastic stuff.
  4. If the level of detail and or craftsmanship isn't being put on the show tables...while yea that would be sad, but if the guys who used to do it are still at the shows just moved past those type of models, why look at it as a problem instead of an opportunity. I mean, if I were into the show scene that's exactly how I would view it. It's always sad to see talent go away, but let's be honest, there's only so far we can go in the small scales we build. So technical skill eventually gets pushed aside over style/ subject matter etc... But, the folks of my generation (I'm 32) are the future of the hobby... that's obvious, so view it as an opportunity not a bad thing.
  5. You said "stick it" ?????
  6. I understand alot of the wants going on in this thread... When I say this I mean absolutely no offense to anyone at all... I personally make a distinction between a model builder and a modeler... for those who like kits that "fall" together over anything else... and don't want to kitbash/ scratch build missing details or just add additional detail, those folks are model builders to me. Then, a modeler is someone who doesn't necessarily look at a kit for its engineering so much as they look at the box art or 1:1 photos and then do what is neccessary to meet or exceed that result. That's what modeling is all about. There's nothing wrong with either of these philosophies, but they are two separate things in my opinion. I personally enjoy a quick simple build sometimes... but mostly I enjoy getting into the minutia of trying to add details or make adjustments that maybe no one would ever see or care about but me. Perhaps I'm alone in those feelings. 3D/resin printers are the way forward for the obscure folks.
  7. I believe mine are the same... but I also have the chrome script. I believe I got them from 89kurt.
  8. I've got some ferrari emblems that I got from a member here a couple years ago that are spectacular, I mean like ridiculously nice! Just don't know where they came from. I too would be down for paying extra to get good badges for sure!
  9. I'm sure yall have seen the "3d" badges and emblems for ferraris and the like... But does anyone out there make them for Lambo? 1/24 scale I'm needing some.
  10. I've probably got some testors dark blue laying around if it's needed...
  11. Very nice! Gonna look real mean with trim/wheel/tire! Looking forward to it.
  12. Adding a little glycerin to your mix is very nice for craft paints... helps them flow and level. Also, using wood alcohol vs isopropyl will help with the gelling problem. I'm not sure if it will in every instance but definitely in most. I used these methods on this model and many others
  13. That would also make a lot of sense. I haven't investigated that porsche kit at all. I know nothing about it. Fingers crossed it will be good.
  14. Not the first or the last time shenanigans like this have happened. It's pretty shameful to put the car in that type of box for sure.
  15. They have multiple tooling for a specific kit at different locations? That could be possible I suppose ?
  16. You got lucky... my porsche yesterday was 39.99
  17. Could be something intrinsic to that "division" ? still doesn't explain why some kits are wrapped at one location and taped at others. Perhaps we are looking way too far into it ?
  18. Bought a Revell Porsche today at HL and it isn't wrapped...just the tape circles. The Tbird was wrapped and the 81 camaro was not. The supra I got earlier this week is wrapped. I'd say it's just wether or not the machine that does shrink wrap was down on the production line... so in order to not delay production they just use the tape and keep rolling. But that's probably horribly wrong. Just sounded good in my head.
  19. It does kinda make you wanna start wheezing and clench your chest for a second... but then reality sinks in and addiction keeps on truckin...?
  20. Sadly the thing to do is go to estate sales... ive scored many a kit dirt cheap. Like $5 a pop cheap.
  21. Ever seen a Heller kit? The only thing really usable is the box it came in, to hold the pieces while you carry it to the trash can. ?
  22. Indeed Sir, looks fantastic!
  23. Yup. Just scribe the lines good and deep and like you say... less is more in most cases.
