  1. Thanks for the input. I got the moebius shoes for it. I'll hold on to the snap ones, and may try to work with them in the future.
  2. Pickering is a small local company. They only have 3 trucks, but they are sweet heavy haulers. I see them running around all the time. I finally snapped a pic of one.
  3. I'd like a 379, 389, 351, W900L (or even a B would be better than the "A"s we have), C500, T800W, a 953 would be awesome! Old Pacifics. Some kits with lift axles. And one of these For trailers, we really need a 53' RGN lowboy, and I want a 48' spread axle or 3 axle stepdeck.
  4. I got a little more done this weekend, it's nearing completion. I did the body painting over the last couple of weekends, and it was set up this weekend. I didn't really take many progress pics, I was into it, and just put everything together. I got the chassis all put together. I was going to use the kit wheels and tires, but they are all crooked. I thought of heating the tires up and straightening them, but I decided to just get the Moebius ones. I'm waiting on those now. I'm not great at detail painting, so I didn't do a whole lot with the dash. I can't see it now that it's inside the cab anyways Here's the hood I've built the snap kits in the past, and I found it easier to mount all the pieces onto the cab first, then just pop the cab onto the chassis. The parts get thicker with the paint on them, and it requires a lot of force sometimes to press pieces into place. It's a lot easier (and not as dangerous, as far as breaking stuff) when you can hold the cab in your hands. Once the wheels come in and I get the chassis rolling, I'll put the body on. I started to work on building a headache rack, but I lost motivation and didn't do too much. I also detailed the muffler heat shields There's not much left to do on this one. Next I'll make a trailer for it. I'm thinking either the AMT lowboy, or I saw that Moebius may be coming out with a 48' spread axle flatbed. I may hold out for that one. I'm also thinking of my next project. I want to build a W900, a 353, and another 359 or 2!

  6. Snort is a 1958 Mack LRSVW. Funny, the link posted above I think is the same move as the pictures that I posted. It was a de-methanizer that we moved from Hudson CO to Ft. Lupton CO. In the photos in the link, you can see a box truck following behind in the background, that's what I was driving

  9. I agree. Chevy Blazers were based on a pickup truck. It looked like a short truck with a cap on the back. I just saw a new one in a parking lot yesterday. If it didn't say blazer on it, I'd have thought it was a Kia
  10. I was in the coast guard, and one of my ships had gas turbine propulsion, Pratt Whitney FT4As. 36,000 HP. We also had diesel propulsion which we used most of the time
  11. They are no good. Does anyone have a cheat to make them not crooked? I read somewhere a while back to stuff them with cotton balls. I've tried that, and that just makes it so the tire bead won't sit on the rim. Are there any other ideas?
  12. I built this truck years ago, just found the old photos. I sold this on evil bay, it may be out there somewhere still. I used 2 of the Revell VTS kits to make the quad cab. I converted it to 4 wheel drive, and scratch built the 5.9 Cummins. I scratch built a goose neck tailgate. I had lots of fun building it
  13. I drove trucks for crane companies for a couple of years. This was my usual truck, 379. It was originally red, but was painted white Here's another 379 we had. It had rear leaf springs and rode terribly And a W900L A W900B We had a couple of these T800Ws A little T800 I ran quite a bit A couple more W900s Another 379. 4 axle, double frame heavy haul, dash kit, sweet truck And "Snort"
  14. I got a bunch more work done this weekend. First I fixed the engine front cover which had a paint malfunction. I got back to work on the frame. I made some cozad ramps for picking up double drop trailers. First I made the side plates Mounted them on the frame Then put the ramps on And some crossmembers The frame is too narrow where the sleeper was molded on, so I added strips to bring it to the correct width, as well as add some strength I also got the lift axle built. I made it from 3/16 rod And here's what I wound up doing with the suspension for it. Not perfect, but it will suffice Then I worked on the interior. I cut the bunk off I made a filler section from sheet, and scribed the pattern on it. And a little bit of detail work And a couple more bits I made a pogo stick from sprue, and a deck plate from sheet And some various other random parts I had a lot of fun this weekend, and made a lot of progress.   17. I plan to add strips there to make up the missing width at the top of the frame. Plus I'll be putting on deck plates which will strengthen things also. Thanks for the advice!
  18. I made one years ago. I think I modified a 460. I just sanded the valve covers to make them pointy on the ends. I modified a distributer to look like a fuel bowl. Parts box turbo from a big rig. I made the up pipes from sprue. HPOP resevroir from a piece of styrene. It wasn't completely accurate, but you could tell it was a 7.3. It was pretty easy, you could do it yourself. I put it in an AMT f-150 kit. I grafted 2 cabs into an extra cab
  19. Well, with the kids at the in-laws, and my wife at work, I got quite a lot done this weekend! Sorry, this is a long, pic-heavy post! I started with stripping some chrome, and painting wheels and steps. I know about the tire warpage with these kits, but I'm going to try them anyways. If they're terrible, I'll get some from Jamie. I also worked on the engine, and plumbed it up. The air compressor came out a little dark, but I'll live with it. I used the article from Car Modeller magazine as a guide, I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate. I thought it gave the engine a little something extra anyways. I got to work on the frame. I started with 2 I cut the first one at the front of the first spring mount Then I cut a section out of the other frame. I'm not going fully accurate with the lift axle. Just going to use the springs to mount an axle from scratch Then I removed the 5th wheel plate from the extra section Then I attached everything with strips inside the frame for bracing At this point, I decided that I did indeed want to build it as a day cab, so I went ahead and removed the sleeper floor I also needed to lengthen the drive shaft. I didn't get a shot of it finished, but it's long enough now Then I got to work on the cab. First I cut the sleeper off Then I made a rear panel Cut out a window Installed it A little bit of putty Then shot some primer It looks like the window and the left side of the cab need some dressing up, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out so far. I added a strip on the inside to support the rear of the cab on the floor And this is how she sits. I had a lot of fun, and I'm happy with all the work I finished. Thanks for looking!
