Mpc 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 70’s street machine flavor
GoodbuildNY replied to GoodbuildNY's topic in Model Cars
Thanks Kevin. The original kit never came with the front spoiler but I have a ‘70 Spoiler resin kit that I had bought some time ago from Time Machine resin. I had to make a copy of the front spoiler that is in that kit so it’s not my handy work but sure is a nice piece. -
Mpc 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 70’s street machine flavor

I wrapped this build up today. There is a brief build thread of this project in the wip threads. I was going for something you would’ve seen in the pages of a mid seventies Car Craft magazine or something that would’ve come rumbling into the local Saturday night hang out back then. Idea being someone special ordered a black Spoiler in 1970 and very shortly after began modifying it until it got to the point you see here years later. Day 6 if you will. Any questions, comments are always welcome.- 43 replies

I’ve had this growing list of wants/needs that’s been growing directed towards the aftermarket. As much as I enjoy the fabrication aspect of the hobby, I have a lot of kits I want to get to and at times less fabrication would be nice. So I’m going to list some things I’m looking for that could either fill a void or make life easier on some projects. Thus the title. All comments welcome, maybe someone else has other suggestions. Here’s my list ( 1/25 scale) ; Accurate AMC 390 or 401 Accurate Pontiac 455 Accurate 67 Shelby mag star wheels ( the amt ones don’t look right to me ) ok at this point accurate is implied, 68 Shelby 10 spokes Shelby Paxton supercharger set up Shelby GT350 conversion for reissued Amt Mustang fastback 32 ford B400 and or cabriolet 69 ford Galaxie GT parts 8 track player and 8 tracks off-road fender flares for any of the Moebius truck kits Fender flares for the mid 70’s Mpc Dodge vans 73/74 cuda bumpers with out bumper guards for mpc and amt kits fender flares for the Mpc 70-76 firebird kit. The kit ones just don’t look good, stick out to far or something last is these bronco wheels ( see pic )

Mpc 70 Mercury cyclone annual restoration...sort of
GoodbuildNY replied to GoodbuildNY's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Mike, that’s what I was going for. Like it just jumped out of the pages of a 1976 issue of Car Craft. Lots of memories of these cars this way, very fortunate to get to experience them back then. -

I’m still trying to figure out how to take decent pics with my new iPhone so I apologize for lack luster pics but here’s two quick progress pics. -

Thank you Keith Thanks Trevor, I used Tamiya ts-7 for that slight off white color. Thanks Len, I wish I had a few of the kits I parted when I was younger lol -

So I dragged this one out of its slumber. I’m in the final assembly stage dealing with little issues but hope to have it done soon. Here’s a few quick pics of the progress. -
Nicely done. Crisp and clean!

Thanks everyone. Nice! I’m looking forward to following your builds. I do have the Mpc hardtop that I plan on building as a hemi car just undecided on color combo.
-
Thank you everyone for the kind words. I had gotten so excited to see it finished finally that I had forgotten to finish it ( lol ?) by that I mean I forgot to install the tail pipes. They have since been installed and the car is safely on the shelf.

I’d say you DEFINITELY nailed the stance ! Looks awesome

Resurrecting a 1969 Coronet R/T hardtop glue bomb
GoodbuildNY replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Loving this build. Looks awesome. F8 is my favorite mopar green ! Great job. -
I dragged this out of the box and finally finished it. I purchased it off the good ole interweb as a built glue bomb. I wish I took pics prior to restoration but oh well. After stripping it the body turned out to be beautiful so I had a good starting point. Finished in MCW Q5 bright turquoise. Amt 69 GTX convertible donated chassis, suspension, engine compartment and other odds and ends. Revell 69 Charger donated the 440, center console & shifter and pedal assembly. Optioned with W11 14” deluxe wheel covers from Fireball modelworks. Convertible boot and dash from Missing Link. There’s probably details I’m forgetting at this point but questions and comments are always welcome. It’s not exactly contest worthy but I’m very pleased with how it looks sitting on my shelf. I’ve wanted this kit since I was a kid.

Looks sharp. I’m hoping to getting around to building that one myself. Are there any pics of the motor , chassis and or interior in either of those magazines? I don’t have much in way of reference photos of the mechanicals of that car. -
I’ve had this idea kicking around inside my head for a long time . When the latest reissue of it came out I finally had the extra body for the surgery. Front and rear wheels have been moved forward a scale 6” ish. The chassis is from the Mpc 67 gto from the 80’s just slid forward 6” . Engine is a 396 from the Revell ‘69 Camaro topped with a Speed City intake and short stacks. Headers are modified units from the Monogram ‘66 Malibu . Parts box was raided when needed ( I.e. wheels and tires ) . I really wanted this to be a quick and somewhat easy build so I didn’t bother with any extra detailing like wiring etc. Tamiya yellow rattle can with no clear.
