  1. If those are truly 1/24 scale decals, you are not going to want them, if you're building a 1/25 scale kit.
  2. The rear bumper is a little different on the Charlotte car than the Talladega car I'm doing.
  3. A couple more decals and then I need to future it and it will be done.
  4. Ryan, Its a Brother MFC-J430W.
  5. After the tires are dull coated, the decals will appear as any tire decal does, and the dull coat will seal the decal on to the tire, so it can be handled without worry of damaging the decal. Getting close to the end. Just need to install the tires to the chassis, and then the chassis to the body, and I can begin decaling the body. Shouldn't be too bad, because the car is white, so the decals are on clear sheets, and wont need to be trimmed out like white sheet decals are. The decals above are on a white sheet because their background is not white.
  6. Yes, please post the link for your you tube. If I ever get a glue kit, so far my hobby lobby doesn't sell them, it will come in handy to do the proper mods that you have already figured out how to do.
  7. Made some quarter glasses out of clear styrene. The glass does'nt fit exactly in the opening but I have to add a thin border around the glass that will hide any gaps. The border will be painted flat black. I made some naca duct decals for the quarter glasses. There are some tiny scratches in the glass but the future floor wax will smooth them out.
  8. Thanks, Gary. I'm going to shoot the chassis parts today, but I'm going to use enamel thinned with lacquer and see how that works out. I saw a guy on you tube using it and he got spectacular results and it wasn't the guy that sells dvd's. I know I will have to wait longer before I can handle it again, but I hate to polish, and I want to see if this will be a viable way to shoot bodies. if not, the chassis on these cars are not very noticeable.
  9. I did the usual 1/8 inch lowering and cutting off 1/8 inch from the metal axles to get the tires tucked in under the fenders. when you lower the front axle by drilling holes 1/8 of an inch higher than the ones already there, you have to cut the front part of the fake engine off to get the axle to come through to the other side.
  10. Looks great but I would back up a little on your photos to capture full shots of the car. Also play with your settings to bring it in focus. But it looks like you did a beautiful job on the model.
  11. I need to fix the rear bumper without messing up the paint on the rest of the car.

Excellent job, Jim. You did an awesome job with the snap kit.
  13. You haven't lost your touch. Very nice build.
  14. Yes, it was a very entertaining race to watch. I like that ARCA races are 200 miles or less. Not a huge time commitment on the viewers part.
  15. I finished painting the body, and then found out that I had the rear bumper wrong. The only ref picture I had of the rear of the car was from preseason testing in primer or whatever they call it. So I assumed it was like that for racing. At first, I wasn't going to change it, but then decided it was worth a try, so wish me luck that I don't completely mess it up.
  16. Thanks for the picture, Ryan. Unfortunately I could never find a rear shot of the car I'm doing in race livery. I guess they must have tweeked the rear bumper after they did the super speedway test at Talladega and made it smooth. Well as always I get the information too late, because I have already painted the body, and I'm not going to change it. This model is far from accurate, I just wanted it to look somewhat like a Toyota and not just put decals on a chevy body and call it a Toyota. When you do your ARCA Toyota you can get it right.
  17. I don't know which race you watched but this is the Daytona car and its different then the short track cars. I know I have the depression, that the 5 small fasteners are in, too deep, and the fasteners are too big, but the bumper is definitely not flat and smooth.
  18. Put the final primer coat on. just need to sand and shoot the paint and then I can finish making the decals.
  19. Thanks, Mike and Jim but after the news today, I don't even feel like finishing this model. Nascar bought out ARCA so now its going to be not worth watching anymore, just like Nascar is. They saw how ARCA was gaining popularity and fans so they bought it out to kill it. I'm sure they will force them to have stage racing and a stupid chase so they too can crown a bogus champion. It's a very sad day for true racing.
  20. Perfectly clean and excellent like all of your builds are. A true joy to look at.
  21. I sprayed the universal metallic silver to keep the blue body from bleeding through what will be the white finish coat. I dont want the final color to be a blue tinted white color.
  22. Thanks , Tim and Jim. I just got through putting on the second primer coat. When I get that sanded, I will sray with metallic silver to seal the blue body from bleeding through the eventual white top coat.
  23. Thanks, Gordon. I really appreciate the feedback.
  24. fixed some of the links
