  1. Started working on the exhausts.
  2. Got the tires done.
  3. Thanks Steven. All these pictures are in my photobucket if you need one for future reference.
  4. Added the window net and added roll cage padding.
  5. Here's a good shot of the rope type net.
  6. Actually Michael its not my idea. Drew Hierwater had an article in S.A. showing how to make and use one. Window nets in the seventys and eightys looked more like rope then straps, which can be duplicated with masking tape, but this is the only way I can think of to make a rope type net.
  7. I found the loom and started on the window net. It was black for the Bristol race. Later pictures of it,during the season, it was white.
  8. The kit air cleaner would not allow the hood to shut so I found a picture of Darrell Waltrips 77 monte carlo and tried to make a copy of it and it did allow the hood to shut.
  9. All I need is to black tape some of the chassis bars add a window net and add the tire assemblies and the chassis will be done. Oh yes, and reinstall the inside mirror.
  10. Thanks Riley, for the kind words.
  11. Thanks Doc. I appreciate your interest in the model.
  12. Finally got rid of the bleed through so I can go ahead and paint the top coats. Did some more chassis work.
  13. You shouldn't have worried about the hazing because part of using this paint is sanding it and polishing it and then clearing it and polishing the clear. At least that's what I thought I understood from Hawk in his method of using this paint. It's probably not going to go on super nice like Tamiya does. That's why you can get a big can for 4 bucks. I bought this paint for my next project so I'm going to use it and w.i.p .pic it with any problems I come up with. And of course I will be picking Hawk's brain on how to get it right because he certainly did.
  14. I'm using the same type of paint on my next build. Hope I can get the results Hawk got.
  15. Are you going to prime or just shoot the enamel on the bare body like Hawk did?
  16. If Mike doesn't have them you can try Southern Motorsports Hobbies. http://stores.smhracing.com/powerslide-decals/?sort=featured&page=3
  17. Thanks, Ron.
  18. There's a void in the dash for a bar to go through that this car did not have. So I had to fill it with styrene and putty. Got the seat done and set it in the chassis to see how it looks.
  19. repainted body with a few more coats of siver metallic. Hoping to stop the bleeding. Sprayed the bumpers with duplicolor chrome paint.
  20. Had to add a fan shroud to the radiator. As you can see I did not spray enough coats of the metallic silver and the red body bled through to the white primer. I will have to add a few more coats. the roof looks okay but the hood is really pink. Got the chassis and engine painted.
  21. Found 2 more pictures of 1979 nascar chevy engines.
  22. These are the only 2 pictures I could find of a nascar chevy engine from 1979. If anyone has better pictures and could post them I would appreciate it.
  23. The hook frame to the front of body and fasten with screw at the back will allow the body to be tight with the chassis, but I can still display the finished chassis by itself.
  24. Got the chassis, seat and engine primed. Im rigging the model so I don't have to glue the body to the chassis. It will hook to the front and have one fastener, either a screw or push pin, in the rear.
  25. I used the engine out of the Olds kit. It fits really good in the Thunderbird chassis. I had to use the Thunderbird chassis because I needed a rear steer Banjo chassis for this build. The Olds kit has a front steer chassis. I will use the ford engine in the Olds when i build it. I will try to make it look like a Chevy engine. The Olds will be my next project.
