  1. Man, I thought you would use the supercharger. Go for the gusto.
  2. Yes, Mike. We survived the Texas Valentine storm massacre of 2021 and feel very fortunate about it. So many others had it much worse. They had ten years to fix our power grid and chose not to. What is cool about this kit is the many engine combinations that can be used. I will be using the webers on the small block but will have to make my own manifold.
  3. Yup. Still a spring chicken.
  4. Sorry haven't had any updates lately. I have been freezing in the dark since Sunday night. finally got power back consistently yesterday. Got some grille area work done.
  5. Yes, Michael. As always, that will be revealed at the end, when the final pics are posted. I will say that, I was a huge fan of the driver back in 1964, and always wanted to do this car, that I saw in Sports Car Graphic magazine, back then, when I was 13 years old. I cut out the pictures and article, and pasted it in a scrap book, I made back then. The scrap book today is falling apart, and the pictures and articles are brown and crumbling, but thanks to the internet ,I have found many ref pictures to use to try to replicate the real car. Thanks for the question.
  6. Great job, Mark. One of the best weathered versions of any stock car I have ever seen done. I have no clue how to do one. Again, excellent job.
  7. Thanks, Josh. But I think I will have to put this idea on hold for a while. Like you said very pricey if you can find anything. Just have to hope for an amt reissue of an old kit they had , which is not very likely.
  8. Josh, Do you know if some one makes a 64 cobra roadster kit with the big block in it? There's a certain driver I want to do that drove one back then.
  9. Look like moroso's painted black. Looks like they still used mechanical fuel pumps back then. How did they ever last at those rpm's for that long?
  10. Wow Jason, started in 2012. Glad you will be finishing it soon. I can tell it will be awesome.
  11. Super nice build of when Rex's career started to take off.
  12. Excellent build, Bryon. Paint, decals , cleanliness of build, all top notch.
  13. Yes, that would have been very cool. Oh well mine aren't perfect by any means, but I felt I had to do them since i'm actually trying to do a grand sport. I was actually thinking about doing a decal but knew that would have looked bogus.
  14. Mike, I finally looked at the kit chassis, and boy am i going to have to do a lot of cutting. I'm not going crazy though. Probably just remove the exhaust and mufflers and remove the outer frame rails and replace them with tubes. Probably wont take any under car shots when I'm through. The stock Corvette chassis and the Grand Sport chassis are very different, to say the least.
  15. Thanks for the link. There's a lot to read there. I saved it as a favorite.
  16. I haven't even looked at the chassis yet. Oh well, if I have to slice and dice I will get my sprue cutters and #11 blade and go to town on it.
  17. Looking great. Keep up the awesome work.
  18. Thanks , Michael. I was surprised you were able to find me way down here in this thread.
  19. Mike, I actually googled pro mod 63 corvette, and saw plenty of examples of them with huge slicks completely inside the stock rear fenders. The axel must just be a differential and a 2 foot axel on each side of it. Maybe even shorter then that. They all really looked awesome.
  20. Got the Front fender extensions finished and added some material to the back glass rubber strip and center body feature line that was removed when an emblem was removed. Have to be sanded down and narrowed to recreate those areas.
  21. Got some work done on the fuel filler door and the door handles. The door handles were not stock corvette handles and the door skin had to be reworked to install them on the real car ,as well as the model. I will install the handles after the model is painted.
  22. You could get the Accurate miniatures kit which already has the rear wheel openings done for you. That would be cool. A grand sport built for the strip.
  23. Yeah, Mike. I think you will have to do something like they did with the grand sport. Looking forward to seeing your build.
