  1. Prices aren't too bad either.
  2. Don't ask how many `68 Barracuda annuals I have…….that I know of.
  3. Larry, your gonna get a %$#@-load of my cash when you are ready……
  4. Found these in their latest catalog today…… 1/24 model display accessories.
  5. I know you meant to type GLASS, but when it comes to G/M garage, underclass is appropriate too ! But never mind that, your build is really nice. The weathering, stance, wheel choice, beautiful. And yes, Steve makes some nice wheels. I grabbed a few sets from him myself.
  6. <in my best Krusty the Klown voice> What the Hell is THAT!?!?!
  7. No problem Larry. I'd rather see you get a nice product out than something rushed and not representing what you can do. I just gave this thread a shake to remind you there's interest, not possible interest. Those cars were a big part of my youth. I got a million cars I want to build….. I can wait for all the nice stuff we never had…..
  8. It will be ONE degree when I get up for work in the morning. Not the worst, but not exactly shorts & flip-flop weather either.
  9. BTW: Bill, have you heard? Speaking of well sorted chassis', Acura is bringing back the twin-turbo V-6 NSX.
  10. I love the opening sequence with that Mustang chained down with all four tires boiling. Then he unhooks it…… I can watch Ken's driving repeatedly as his control is impressive.
  11. Your doing this kit justice. Nice clean build style and good eye for detail. Please, take your time and finish it right. Don't just jamb it together at this point……
  12. That stupid-fast Fiat is insane. The way it threads through the chicanes shows a well-sorted chassis. Impressive driving too.
  13. No fair dragging Ken Block into the conversation. Your comparing a properly set-up car with the latest look-at-ME! customization. "STANCED" as the kids I used to work with called it…… And again, this topic started with modifying old cars into updated drivetrains, and we're talking about updated cars being made undriveable…...
  14. I've been around cars my entire life. I've seen many trends come & go. Some endure, some fizzle-out. Custom mini-trucks: They were larger than life at one time, probably just a loyal niche today. Fast & Furious Rice Boys: I guess after every car had a set of lighted washer nozzles and a TYPE R sticker on it, it kind of got boring. Rat Rods: Here's a blip on the radar that I predict will go away too. Glorifying trash-built? Speaking of trash-built, the decambered look, or the latest bastardization of tradition called "stanced", has to be one of the dumbest trends to date. They almost make DONKS look practical. I worked with 3 kids at Infiniti that all had slammed Nissan 240's. They were digging through the scrap-tire pile every few days looking for new tires to kill. The life expectancy of those tires, especially once you start drifting, is incredibly short. And you drift constantly due to NO TREAD CONTACT with the road. Sheesh…. kinda makes a set of 17's on an old Nova look sensible.
  15. The topic has morphed from modifying a vintage car with SAFETY UPGRADES to building unstable clown cars out of reliable, well engineered cars... Wait…what?!?
  16. I went digging in the basement last night looking for a specific kit. Instead I found 2 complete Modelhaus kits (61 Seneca & 67 Barracuda convertible), a Modelhaus body (57 Plymouth Surburban), and an F&F Resins body (Chopped Ranchero). This is PROOF our hobby is a sickness…. I think about what that stuff costs and to find it stashed and forgotten is upsetting. The day I bought it I had plans, last night I remembered owning it, never mind the vision I initially had for it. Bad enough not finding the time (and truthfully ambition) to build, but to find wasted money makes me wonder what else I've accumulated over the years that's forgotten. It just may be time to overhaul my stash before the spring comes and then it's too hot and I'm busy outside and it waits again…...
  17. Just want to give this a poke to see if it's awake…... We're waiting. It will probably sit, but I want it just the same.
  18. But seriously, how sweet IS driving that Beck? In the 80's I lived air-cooled VW's and was working for Porsche/Audi back then. Going back before I found the Barracuda, my plan B was a full cage, turbo motored Dune Buggy. A poor man's Beck …
  19. Dude, back in the 80's I had a Devin Porsche. Tell me about "putting yourself OUT there"! Most of my friends refused to even get in that darn thing….. I also had an MG Midget for a VERY short time. I was tired of doing undercarriage inspections of every vehicle on the road and always wondered if I was ever going to see the remains of another MG Midget under one. It was like driving a go-cart. And considering the age I was then (Immortal….) it scared me then. But a Beck 550 Spyder. Oh my………….. considering the price of entry, quality, and replication of an absolutely iconic Porsche I've lusted for one myself. But that whole self-preservation thing pops into my head again…. But boy would I love to own a Beck 550.
  20. And speaking of modifying old cars for todays roads…... Personally, as much asI love the styling cues on my Barracuda, the tail light suck as far as being visible. I installed a pair of on-line "barrel" LED plug-in bulbs to try and improve the visibility. It just looks like a REALLY BRIGHT dot in the center of the lens. I wanted better. Here's my modified LED reverse lights, which from the factory is just a single 1156 bulb aimed down from the top of the lens area only…. And here some LED prototype taillights I've come up with I'm doing this because I want people to SEE ME when I drive, brake, and signal. I also installed a high mounted LED third brake light when I built her. Are these required? No. Do I expect everyone to follow what I believe a car should have? Exactly, that's the point….. everyone does what they're good with.
  21. That's the enigma: Driving a "correct" old car would include bias-ply tires, drum brakes, and single circuit brakes, no? I feel the radial tire upgrade is so common on "drivers" that the brake up-grade makes sense. Remember, the car in front of you has twice the braking power and control than an older car can ever hope of possessing. Me personally wouldn't want to rear-end someone because I didn't have the reserve braking, or ability, and leave me in a position of liability for mine and the other person's property. Liability being the big word. On a separate, but indirectly related topic, in the Barracuda I have an in-car camera facing out across my dash (speedometer, tach, gear position) and across the hood so if something bad happens, I have recourse. An insurance company will spend $9,00 to avoid paying $10,000. Sometimes modifying an old car that's being driven is somewhat a necessity, depending on YOUR circumstances too don't forget.
  22. Umm, not to be critical but cut out crash beams? Your contradicting yourself, although it DOES sound like a bad-ass ride! If your cutting the shell into a potatoe-chip, are you planning on a cage? Brakes? Sounds like a seriously cool project!
  23. Pat & Bill, good tips guys! After receiving the price-quote for vacuum formed glass (yeah, it annoyed me….) looks like this is my route. I'll look into making the internal window channels, but I need to find stencil sheet. Always a treat seeing Bill glue together a model …..
  24. I finally heard from Bandit. I never knew it cost more to ship a set of vacuum-formed window glass than an entire model kit……..
  25. A hack is a hack is a hack……. that happens at high-end shops, dealerships and goofy-lube. These bozo's weed themselves out from the better shops. But poor choices made by the customer, well…. we're not turning away money. Ever have the kid behind the counter talk you out of a cheeseburger because it's bad for you and would you listen if that's what you have your heart set on?
