  1. This has been slowly taking shape in the metal shop. We're now starting to rough in the drivetrain. The powerplant is a `15 SRT8 6.4 Hemi w/ auto and a Ford 9" 4 link rear, Mustang II up front.
  2. WAIT!!! My Maxima was marketed as a 4 door sports car! In my rear quarter glass it said 4DSC....
  3. For me it's warm, flat seltzer......
  4. Way back when I did the swap meets I used to hate the "Quality Control" inspectors come along and not only open, but DUMP OUT the contents, inspect, then attempt to jam it all back into the box. This little act of disregard for others property usually resulted in scratched chrome and dismounted parts. It got so bad that when ever someone started to open a box I would place my hand on the lid stopping them and ask for $5. They would always reply they just wanted to look at it. And I would alway reply that the $5 was put towards the rechroming of a soon to be depreciated mint kit. The $5 per inspecting also compensated me for the value loss suffered from being handed by all swap meet attendees. Manhandling of kits ended immediately.
  5. ………………….. ………………………………………….. Stunning build Steve, stunning!
  6. BEAUTIFUL build! I too owned one just before I found my Barracuda, and immediately sold it as I really wanted the `Cuda. Odd-looking car that definitely stands out! Really nice paint, foil, and detail work.
  7. It is very well built but also happens to be very ugly. I knew a girl like that once…..
  8. I agree 100% Bill. I work with enough direction and deadlines at work, which I'm OK with. But I'm finding it hard to get away to the workbench this winter. And I have projects I WANT to get done. But as far as therapy, NOTHING makes me feel more relaxed than bench time. The relaxation factor goes up by 10 if it's snowing outside my window while I'm building. That's when the music switches to vintage swing Jazz and then I'm "in the zone…." where I can stay up all night, knowing I'm not gonna make it into work in the morning. Those nights are rare, but memorable.
  9. Wow…. The wiring for the horns (with mounting brackets!), ECU, and wiper motor are nice touches. The masking and painting of the wheels was nicely done The body save. It speaks for itself! And the engine. Very nice detailing and assembly. Beautiful detailing on the air cleaner assembly, the rubber gasket looks so real! But the one area that blows me away is that dash. REALLY nice job on those gauges. That will now be incorporated in my future builds. Thanks for sharing all your details and scratch building methods. I absolutely LOVE following heavy-tech builds and I really like your realistic approach. Keep us posted on the continuation and completion of this beauty!
  10. I'm W-A-Y overdue for my "therapy" session! Right now I'm enjoying a cup of coffee. Maybe tonight I can get there. I know once I start…...
  11. Yes, and BOTH camps are unhappy about the marriage......
  12. Now THATS some funny stuff right there!
  13. Just when that that thing goes away, someone drags it back around! Pretty awful conversion IMO
  14. Not to be difficult, but...... Just how rare is it? If it's absolutely impossible to find in ANY condition it may be worth buying just to say you HAVE one. Bragging rights are important to collectors regardless of the totally ruined condition.
  15. Tasteful job on the interior, like it very much! I just took a long-term project out for its initial shake-down drive last week. What a great feeling it is making them great runners!
  16. We have a 6.4 Hemi (475 horses....) sitting in the shop waiting to go into a '35 Dodge. Love my job!
  17. Isn't it nice playing with other people's money?
  18. The '56 I rebuilt was owned by a wealthy "professional " whom returned complaining of an engine noise upon (miracously) returning from a trip up the coast to Mass. We went for a test drive and everything was fine. We hot onto a local highway and as I was about to shift into forth he said "the noise is starting"as I pulled 4th. It was the sound of the engine buzzing near the shift point. He drove round trip in 3rd. gear. Didn't know it was a 4 speed. True story.
  19. To my eye..... The rear axle center section looks undersized The transmission pan looks oversized And the H pipe gap looks narrow with the exhaust pipes too close together leading into the mufflers But again, sitting in the recliner looking at a picture becomes more opinion than fact. Looking forward to this kit.
  20. Not sure Bill. All I know is your looking at a fortune as it sits so far…… As I said, I'll find out more details Monday. We're doing an LS3 swap in a `65 `Vette with an Art Morrison frame that looks like bar straws compared to this one. It is STOUT. I know he plans on road racing it so I doubt it'll see the streets. But who knows….
  21. As disturbing as those photos are (I restored a `56 Speedster in 1981 at a shop I was at, I worked as a Porsche/Audi tech for 11 years) I have seen the beginnings of those cars demise. Those are the cars bought by people whom didn't care for them for either reasons of indifference or financial. They are expensive to maintain, they are considerably more fragile than a body-on-frame Chevy. I've seen the people whom put them away indoors in Oct. under a cover, I've had the pleasure of wrenching on the junk that sat outside uncovered for years because they seized the engine after they couldn't afford the 12 qts of oil their `72 911 oil change required……. I've worked on the cars that the people wanted to drive them on the lift so we wouldn't drive them, I've worked on Porsches with the ashtray overflowing onto the carpet. If they're taken care of, they NEVER get to this stage. As an aside, I live on an island up here in the rust-zone. We salt our roads like McDonalds fries….. everything old & un-interesting pretty much dissolved years ago. I've seen these lots filled with old iron and when you start looking there's hardly ANYTHING salvageable! Rust is an evil disease for metal...
  22. I ran into work this morning for a few hours and this rolled. It's in for some exhaust fitment issues so the customer had us pick it up and flat bed it in. And that's only because the customer didn't have a TIG welder at his house as he offered our exhaust fabricator to come use HIS lift in his "shop" behind his house. Must be nice ….. As far as details, I can't help besides the obvious and that's it's mid-60's Corvette with an all aluminum Brodix big block and a 5 speed Richmond. The flatbed rolled it off, we parked it on a drive-on lift, and I'll find out more Monday. But wow, just LOOK at this thing so far! BTW: Our shop fabricated every piece of the exhaust system from the flanges on the cylinder heads to the tips on the mufflers out back.
  23. Today was pleasing on many levels. 1- It's the 14th anniversary of my first date with my wife, Amy 2- It's my boy Buddy's 5th Birthday 3- My Doctor cut one of my maintenance med's in HALF 4- I was given keys, alarm codes and more responsibility at work today. Things are going very well and I'm very grateful & appreciative.
  24. I use the O'keefs hand cream too. I apply it & wear latex gloves. Nice hands...... ✌️
