  1. I also decided to fully detail it too. If I'm going to build it, I may as well BUILD it.
  2. At the moment the fish is swimming nicely and loosing the paint. The tail panel, with all the fine, intricate engraving, cleaned totally to bare plastic. By tomorrow it *should* be stripped. I'm going to strip the engine tonight also. Updates will follow…..
  3. I paid more for an original issue AMT Hurst Hemi under Glass……
  4. I'm undecided if I should build this box-stock, or if I should detail it. But either way, the body is soaking in Lake Castrol as I type this. I bought this kit yesterday at the LIARS Model Show cheap so it's getting built! The box is totally roached and falling apart. The lid I'll save & hang on the wall in the hobby room. As nice as that finish looks throughout the plastic bag it's really grainy and rough. Not to mention every mold line from 1968 is still there. I plan on doing all the same body detailing modifications as I did on the replica of my car. Look at that mold line on the sail panel! BLUB-BLUB! All the chrome parts popped-off the painted engine with my finger nail. About 3 minor bits are missing, easily replaced. MrMike has the `66 covered, I got the `68. Anyone else wanna jump in?
  5. Great job on the HUG! I have a half-started `69 HUG and yesterday I acquired a `68 HUG builder. You've inspired me to build more Barracudas……. Real nice build. Thanks for posting!!!
  6. Some shots from yesterdays show…...
  7. $276….. I guess for a die-hard Chevy guy with a "grail" kit this is cheap. Good deal for all!
  8. I wish I could have gotten some information on the person or collaboration that went into it. Very cool indeed!
  9. This was on display at the LIARS show today. Really brought back memories of the very first drag strip I ran at YEARS ago. The track is long gone unfortunately. It was at National Speedway where I saw the Hemi under Glass as a kid and started my infatuation with Barracudas. Sorry, I didn't get the builder(s) name(s).
  10. Found this diamond in the rough today at the LIARS show out here in Freeport, N.Y. The body was painted without primer, so it should lift right off. The few items that are assembled are done with minimal glue slop. The wheels & tires are available, as are the decals. Considering how stupid-expensive this kit can be, I'm not going to feel guilty building a collector kit, not that I do this regularly. FWIW: I got the kit for a little more than twice the price of a new kit. Found a new winter project ……. In `08 we met Bob Riggle and I had an opportunity to photograph the `68 Hemi under Glass extensively. This will be a fun build. I'm headed out to dinner in a few minutes, but when I get home the body is going in lake Castrol and we shop for wheels….. Here we go with an encore Barracuda build for this season.
  11. I'm at the LIARS model show now and scored an un-built, partially painted '68 Hemi under Glass for cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean UNDER $100....... I'll post pictures when I get home. Clear the workbench! I'm building this sucker this winter !!!!
  12. Build season is here!

  13. It's coming along nicely Dan! What a great project you have going!
  14. Price has shot up to $39….. At that price I might buy it & build a street rod. All kidding aside, that way everyone was clamoring over it being cast in resin can have one on the cheap maybe. But then again, there is 12 hrs. to go at the moment.
  15. Ummm….. you do realize that photograph is, like…. 50 years old, right? Tack that on in your consideration of choices. I bet the old Ford looks better!
  16. I'm with you on that. In your thread using the Kyosho body is identical, except cast in black plastic. What did that one cost?
  17. How are those Miatso Harley's? They advertise 3 or 4 variations with different pick-ups. I'm not expecting museum quality, but are they workable?
  18. So THATS where the R & M Baja came from! Still a nice piece, and even better as an oval. Nice start!
  19. I worked for Porsche/Audi as a service technician when I was in my late teens/early 20's and I remember working on those cars. We had only a few 6 cylinders ones that rarely came in, but the various 4 cylinder versions kept us busy. A good running 2.0 with the Weber carb up-grade, cam, and headers was a NICE ride….. Beautiful build so far! Thanks for the great memories!
  20. I never installed the radiator cap, overflow hose & bottle. Plus the coil & master cylinder came loose from it's trip to NNL East. Give her a few touch-up's on the drip rail trim and back window, and we're ready for the LIARS show next weekend. Now onto the `70…...
  21. OK, so 6 months have passed. Time to get this puppy back on the workbench! I'm cleaning up a few minor details on the replica of my `68 `Cuda, then we dive back into this `70. Quick re-cap: FM3 Pink convertible w/ White interior. I have a majority of the paint work done except for the body, which is un-touched. Most of the silly detailing is done. I must finish this before I touch the Baja. That's my discipline I hope I can maintain. Hopefully update pictures by tomorrow night.
  22. The Saab 96, BMW 2002, and the Citroen would be interesting if we're speculating.
