This morning I was surfing the `net and I came across Corrupted Diecasts web site. Wow... they have some neat stuff for 1/18th die casts! I have a 1/18 die cast of my personal car and was planning on doing a replica. On the Corrupted site I found my Mickey Pro E-T's are available, plus a few other accessories I could use. They have complete engines, rear frame clips w/ 4 links, aluminum wheels, slicks, wheelie bars, MSD Ignitions, etc.... Now here's the question: I have always been a plastic 1/25th scale modeler. With the introduction of aftermarket accessories for 1/18th. die cast's, it's hard not to consider the new scale medium. I plan on doing my Barracuda for obvious reasons. Would anyone here consider doing that scale as a regular build choice? I mean, working throttle linkage and rotating distributors.... who could resist? Let's hear it. And please, keep it civil.http://www.corrupted....com/index.html

This stuff is gold.... Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the compliment! The more I work on this simple project the more I'm remembering how things go wrong due to thinking too much. After assembling the interior I regret not foiling the painted on interior trim (more work....) or adding the other end of the seats belts from the seat back and add the mounting hardware on the floor(more work....) or removing the cast-in rear deck center speaker and re-finishing the deck (more work....) etc. THIS is why we have so many started projects. I'm making a list of all the second-thoughts I'm having and I'll apply those details into the next eventual "epic" build we all attempt. This is supposed to be a quick build for the past 2 weeks..... I want to finish it. Rant off. Back to the workbench.

Any football fans out there?

While I don't follow Football, I do have an arrogant, obnoxious, condescending co-worker whom was running his Packer's-loving mouth all season. Tomorrow all the Giant's fans I work with are going to use him as a chew-toy. Should be a good day tomorrow.... -
Gotta love these pre-painted kits! I spent about an hour or so making a set of seat belts and assembling the interior, which fell together. I also added speakers to the front kick panels.

Thanks on the proper thread suggestion.... I never thought of it. I'll have a Mod take care of it.

In a separate thread I explain how I do the speaker grills. Today we're planning on finishing the interior. Updates will follow later tonight. I've been so darn busy I haven't done much. I did get my Sirius radio boombox working in the hobby room. That should make it more user friendly

Here's a trick I use for making PE speaker grills look realistic. I use black masking tape, photo-etched wiper arms bits, O rings, and the grills. I mount the tape sticky side up. Not only does this hold the photo-etch, it's the same color as the paper in a speaker cone. I mount the photo-etched dots with the O rings around them. Then I apply the grill over the replicated voice coils in the speakers Then cut the speaker grill away from the tape. Everything comes off ready for a dab of adhesive and mounting.....

Nice to see this finished as I too watched it go together. Looks great overall, just not sure about the knock-off spinners up front though.... Congrats on a real nice job!

Today I Lost My Best Friend!
FASTBACK340 replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We lost our 16 yr. old gal Angel a year ago this past May and we still miss her. It was one of the most difficult things me & my wife had to do. It took us about 6 months before we realized we NEEDED another companion to share our home with, so year ago November we rescued our boy from a Brooklyn shelter. Right now your mourning Rex, but time does make it tolerable. Never easy, but tolerable. I just gave my Buddy a hug.... and if you want a tear jerker... http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm -
That's a really big dime.....

<p> Speaking of which.... What Dog Dish's are you planning on doing?Me needs BADLY a set of `68 Plymouth Dog Dishes. Got `em or know of a source?Although I have Centerlines on her now, I'm probably going back to steelies & caps. I need a set to build the replica of my car.Sorry for the detour off-topic. BTW: I like your solution for modifying the wheels. I'll take that with me. Thanks!

Thanks Mark. I agree, a build is a build. Doesn't matter what you start with, it's what you do with it. Heck, back in the day I won Best of Show @ the MAMA's NNL with a snap kit.....

OK...I'm on a roll. I got the engine about 90% done tonight. I'm getting cross-eyed after all this time, time for bed.

Vacation? It was more like a coma....Aside from copping-out with a pre-painted kit, I'm having a blast Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

So.... like this?

Thanks Keith! I'm trying to roll along with this. My Wife is getting a kick out of watching me building again. She always has this fear I'm going have a car drop on me when I'm in the garage. Now all she has to worry about is the random x-acto puncture.Just resisting the urge to get too crazy too fast....

What's going on? I think my computer is possessed! When I preview the post I just see URL's for the Fotki site, so I re-submit it and it get's double posted. Sometimes... I need to have the `puter flushed out.

I got most of the chassis done. The rear is detailed, just have to set ride height. The front is done. I'm also going to use the kit engine as I'd have to modify the Revell piece too much. I want te to be a QUICK build....

Did I mention I hate my computer? Here's the rear end shot. I hope...
