I hate my computer.... it's being a little ***** when I edit. I loose my pictures! Here's the Evergreen pic. from the previous post: And here's the rear end/tires-wheels picture Rich! Great to hear from you "GrandPa". How's the family? Amy says HI and we'll be at NNL East this year. Maybe with a crappy glue-bomb in my pocket....

You have no idea how jacked-up I am over this build. Although it's a prepainted piece, it's beautifully detailed. But there's always room for improvement. I decided to add brake lines & bracketsI use a piece of hex-shaped Evergreen rod and drill a #72 hole in the center. After hitting it with a silver paint pen I trim it to lenght and there you go.... inexpensive hex fittings. Chuck a piece longer than needed in your Dremel and round the tip a bit and paint with clear tinted paint for AN fittings. Here's a shot of the detailed rear end. I also added tire valves to the wheels.More to come....

The Ram & Dart Sport are awesome. NICE work!

First build in years so I figured I'd start simple and sharpen my basic skills. I'm using a prepainted `58 Edsel as an expendable kit. I'll save the Mopars and rare stuff for when (If...) I get my chops back and build presentable stuff. Here's the wheel choice mocked-up with the body. I see countless pictures of ideas like this on this forum. I plan on finishing mine... Here we have the disc brakes grafted onto the Edsel rearend after some minor detailing. Both the brakes and tire/rim combo came from the Copperhead concept car. Here's a built engine that was salvaged from a Revell `32 Ford that met an untimely demise (from a VERY HIGH shelf...) that has been detailed a bit. While no epic master-build, it IS a return to a hobby I love and miss dearly. As I practice cutting, filing, fitting, and gluing it together without paw-prints, I'll work up to the spray booth after a simple build or two. Here we go....

Actually, in all fairness, my Wife stays out just so "nothing bad" happens. She does the same thing with the garage. She just doesn't go out there. If I'm working in either, she'll come hang with me. But if I'm not there she'll respect the area and stay out. By choice. Children aren't even allowed in the HOUSE, never mind the hobby room....

I agree, the last couple of issues have been very good reading. I've been especially enjoying seeing all the tips & how-to's. Great stuff being writen by great builders. Thanks guys! Not having the post office mangle this issue is a added treat. -
When Did This Happen?
FASTBACK340 replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Murano drop-top is indeed factory. And yes, it's an answer to a question nobody asked..... I've been an Infiniti technician for almost 20 yrs. now, with a few years spent slumming at Nissan. I can tell you stories... TRUE stories.... that would sound like fiction when it comes to the Nissan mindset. They create and institute policies that frustrate us at times. And their recent designs..... I NEVER see those Cube's on the roads out here in the NYC area. And the Juke is a close second. I just don't see them in traffic. And we have EPIC traffic at times with lots of cars to look at! And the actual engineering of assemblies makes it ######-near impossible at times to do a repair without major dis-assembly.So they're having trouble with the Murano convertible top leaking? You should see the horrors we're having with the Infiniti G-37 folding steel roofs. And that's just one thing that happens to be on-topic here. There's plenty more. Those Titan/Armada's are indeed the basis for the NV line, which is basically a high-roof panel version of the Armada/Q56. And as for the Titans with their frequent service needs, well...I hate to say it, but those are made here in the states. And there IS a difference between the stateside built Infiniti's (Q56) and the Japanese models (EX-FX-G-M). Not starting a fire-fight here, just stating the facts. We used to get Armada's off the delivery trailer with A/C lines not even connected! But the new Japanese models are starting to scare us too... This is what's left of a rod & piston out of a 2010 G37 AUTOMATIC.... We see carnage like this in the 6 speeds all the time (rich kids blowing up Daddy's money... we love `em!) but never is the auto's. This thing just seized-up and destroyed the engine. 27k miles, regularly maintained by us, older couple own it w/o kids. Just up & died. We have a new model coming out in the spring. Should be a busy summer of recalls, er... I mean "service campaigns". -

All the veteran mail-mauler's must be on vacation.... My issue arrived yesterday in perfect condition. A first. -
Why do you build model cars?
FASTBACK340 replied to nboldman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
<p> I agree -
NICE BUILD! .... Nothing more to add that hasn't already been posted. Beautiful build!

Nah, you didn't disappoint us. Chrysler did by naming that thing a Charger.Nice build though, clean and well done.

Funny how now a straight axle car is cool though....

OMG... we're showing our age. I had a `64 Polara 2 dr. that had it all: Hi-Jackers in the rear, chrome reverse wheels w/baby moons, front torsion bars cranked within an inch of snapping, and good `ol flex-pipe dual exhaust into Hush Thrush mufflers. Man, the memories that car gives me....

The M-T's have a grooved edge besides the center grooves like the Hoosiers. Mad Dog's web site is down.

I asked about this MONTHS ago and was told they were being mastered.... That's why I went out in the garage last week and measured my 275-60-15's and have started doing the initial artwork for the tread and side cuts. I'm going to see if a stock car tire can be used as a basis, or if I'm carving tires and having them cast. Mickey Thompson Pro E-T's are THE most popular tires on the streets today (followed by Hoosier & Nitto...) for muscle cars and NO ONE makes a set.... Maybe I should have kept this to myself until I was further along.
-
Pro street cars are a handful too in the corners, they just rolled over at a lower altitude! I remember this fad when I was in high school and I didn't like it then either, but it does make for an excellent modeling subject. Function-ability be damned.... build-on!

Cool X-mas Gift

I'm more worried about too much C4..... You have a chance of dodging a cannon ball! -
For Christmas my Wife bought me (us?) tickets to go see the Mythbusters. Apparently they're doing a road tour and they are doing 2 shows in the NYC area. Me & the Mrs. enjoy the TV show, so now not only are we going to see them, but the date of the show is my Birthday. I might even get dinner out of this too....
