  1. Thanks fellas, you encourage me to do another one.... Your kind words are well appreciated...
  2. Thanks, Gary, coming from you that means a lot, I have looked longingly at your builds.......... this was a fun one... Jeff
  3. Thanks for the kind words, it was a fun build and I think the big floats always make a good looking heavy haul gravel truck. All the tandems I drove had them, and I think they have a muscular feel.... the color is actually Model Master Blue Angel Blue ............ sure wish MM was still available.... thanks again, I really appreciate your thoughts... Jeff
  4. Hey guys, here is my take on a Pete 389 highway tractor converted to a Gravel truck ....... a lot of fiddling went into this, had to shorten the frame 3/4 inch, changed drive tires, changed front rims and tires, use the excellent CTM photo etch for the dash, added front fender flares, adjusted the box cab guard, changed the box tail lights too...and my good friend Ron G. ( Crafty Craftsman ) gave me the dump box from the Revell Kenworth kit as he wasn't going to use the box on his build, I love this truck, I think the 378 is my Favorite Pete... anyway here are a few of the final results, I hope it passes muster and you guys think it is ok.... Jeff
  5. Ok, this is my mock up of the AMT Watkins Kenworth W 925 conversion to a heavy gravel truck, using lots of aftermarket bits, and the dump box from the AMT Autocar kit...................
  6. I love the color scheme.... engine detail is really good as well... Jeff
  7. We, big rig guys, desperately NEED some accurate spring brake chambers and slack adjusters, I would be all over those if we could get some accurate ones in 1/24 and 1/25 scale... most of the kit ones just don't cut it, especially the Italeri ones, way undersized........... Jeff
  8. https://stsupplyco.com/collections/model-kits-resin-cabs-new/products/1-25-scale-revell-peterbilt-353-model-truck-kit https://stsupplyco.com/collections/model-kits-resin-cabs-new/products/1-25-scale-revell-peterbilt-353-alaska-model-truck-kit https://stsupplyco.com/collections/model-kits-resin-cabs-new/products/1-25-scale-revell-peterbilt-alaskan-hauler-model-truck-kit Would any of these be a starting point? Not sure how accurate they are or aren't , but may be worth a look? If you do decide to order from Paul, he is a top drawer guy, I have placed a number of orders from him and he has never failed to have stellar service.... Cheers Jeff
  9. That Javelin is GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. This is a spectacular build............. the engine plumbing is beyond anything I have seen before, looks exactly like the real deal, VERY inspirational, I have snagged a couple close ups for my reference, so that I may try and emulate this just a little bit.... I could stare at those engine pics for hours............. ( I have already !? ) Love the details.... can't wait for more.... Jeff
  11. Most welcome Jerry.... I have one I was looking for in particular, it showed the head lights mounted very close to the Rad, which looked really cool......... similar to the old Pete's and KW's... Jeff
  12. Here are a few I snagged off the 'net' , I hope this helps rather than muddies the waters...
  13. Personally, with all that has been going on with FB lately, I think I will stay away from it, I certainly don't need the 'stress' of someone telling me what I can and can't say that has little idea of how I'm thinking. I think I find it easier to not participate in FB, and hang out here with you guys, where I can learn a lot and have a chuckle now and again... interesting conversation here on this subject.... Jeff
  14. The guy driving should carry a rag in his back pocket to wipe up that pesky fuel spill tho ? Outstanding build.... you nailed the look perfectly Jeff
  15. It is a perfect color for that unit.... I will try and look into that color or something close for a planned build, thanks Jeff
  16. Beautiful build... like the others mentioned, the dump box looks WAY better than the stock kit box..... and the color, wow that pops, what is the color called............ I could do one of mine in that color.... it makes the truck ! Jeff
  17. This is a real eye catcher, I love the color combo, and the stripes just set it off...... those old school Kenworths had beautiful lines, you nailed this one , Ken Jeff
  18. The boards look great ! All you have to do is split a few and break a few chunks out like the low bed I used to pull, from guys loading Cats and excavators with grousers on the tracks and turning on the deck ! Arrgghh LOL Love what you are doing, can't wait for the next update... Jeff
  19. Great answers and responses for sure, and I DO understand everyone has a 'real life', and this is a hobby, and we all build at our own pace, I do get all that for sure, it was probably a silly question to ask, but as I was perusing the WIP section, it just an observation that some real good stuff just kind of went away............ was just wondering. And I certainly understand every one's input and totally understand.... maybe , like John says, that some might see this and resurrect an old starter....... who knows...
  20. kind of like, it's more about the journey than the destination....
  21. Thanks , John.......... I was a bit concerned I may have set off a fire storm with the possibility that guys may think it rather brash of me to put out the query about fizzled projects.... and letting me know as such.... ? but alas not to be so... it is just that some or most of the talent here blows my mind, and the scratch building is off the clock, and that is one of the reasons I asked about this is to watch and enjoy seeing what artistry is on the site...... so can we expect a re-start of the MS 11 F 1 car? ?
