  1. Yes, printed in Italy. Maybe they're too good?! Lol. They lay down ok, and yes, they do look like they are painted on, but you can't touch them because of how thin they are. Like I say in the title of this thread, there seems to be no margin for error with these decals. It's like "Get good at it, or go home" Lol
  2. Beautiful. Such an awesome car was the DS. Unfortunately they were overcomplicated, hugely advanced for their time so not many left now.
  3. Nice. I've been thinking of getting one of these just for the wheels to do the italeri 1/24 Ford Transit. Same wheels as used on some base model mk2's, and look so much better than what comes in the Transit kit.
  4. Nice bunch of kits there. That would keep me busy for months. The '61 Galaxie looks cool.
  5. It's not that old, maybe 2019? Certainly not old enough to affect the quality of the decals. It's the Revell of Germany box, still fresh and in stock with most model dealers.
  6. I can't find any pics of this truck from the rear, only the front, but I'd assume it would have amber indicators for European law. I forgot to add some on my build, though the front has them. From the very little info I could find, this particular truck was either a prototype or exported to Europe.
  7. Thanks John. I don't know if GMC had an export contract or what but there were plenty of them sent over seas. Judging by the picture I based this off of and seeing how many were in service over here I'd say GMC had some sort of export deal going on. There's no law in the UK that bans LHD vehicles, though I think New Zealand does but I could be wrong on that one but I know UK doesn't have an issue with it.
  8. I watched you build two so I will follow this one also friend… Thanks mate. I've cleaned up some flash already and done some work getting the grille to fit. I'll start a thread next week?
  9. I have tried that method. I usually get lots of air bubbles if I use just water under the decal.
  10. Yes, that's pretty much exactly how I do it, paper towel next to the decal to soak up the excess water. Sometimes I'll use a clean wet brush to help with parts of the decal that have stuck a little. Most of the time just rolling a cotton but over your average AMT and MPC decals works 99% of the time, but these Revell decals? man, they just fight me every step of the way. Pressing a blade into the panel gaps with Revell decals ends up cracking them, though they do tend sink in ok if left alone.
  11. I've seen a couple of tutorials on that and looks to work quite well.
  12. Bought another '69 Country Charger. One of the worst kits out there in regards to fit issues, but man do I love building this one, my third Country Charger build and definitely not my last! This one will be all white with a red trunk stripe and my usual scratch building to the engine bay and suspension.
  13. This is the Revell '68 Chevelle I'm working on. Even using decal solvent the decals crack and fall apart. In this pic, you can see the decals cracking just from the curvature of the trunk near the rear light panel. The mess you see near the rear window trim is where I popped a bubble with a pin, tried to flatten it down with a cotton bud and just crumbled. I had to touch it up with some paint. Same thing with the hood after I popped a bubble. Also, decal solvent did nothing to get rid of the wrinkles around the hood vent. Note one of the hood decals are closer to the hood trim than the other. After I lay them down that's where they stay, otherwise they will tare if I try lifting or sliding them.
  14. hmm, seems like there is an issue with them then. I have used decal solvent which does help a bit to move them around and suck them down a bit, but the window for adjustment is very small before they stick and go soft. They still tare very easily when trying to line up around hood vent cut-outs and such.
  15. Are Revell decals rubbish, or do they expect you to lay the decals down perfectly every single time? Every Revell kit I've built, which is about three or four now, the decals lay down ok if you get it positioned perfectly first time, but any attempt to adjust or remove air bubbles results in them taring and even loses it's tac. Accidently touching them days later will have a piece sticking to your thumb. They remind me of trying use decals from a vintage kit, they can work if you are extremely careful, but you better make darn sure they are in the right place and laid down first attempt, and even then, they can still fail miserably. I can mess around with AMT and MPC decals all day, even vintage ones sometimes, but Revell? Pfff!! anything that has a curvature or fine area where the decal is pinstripe like, forget it.
  16. Nice work and lovely colour. I much prefer this front clip version to the current AMT one.
  17. Looks stunning, I love the colour.
  18. That's cool. Palmer models remind me of the tinplate cars from Japan. You can tell what it is but is nowhere near accurate.
  19. I didn't realise it was a die cast. Even more impressive actually, to put those dents in die cast without wrecking it. Yeah, die cast do tend to fall short on unique movie specific details.
  20. I really like what you done with that. I've seen this kit a few times but not often with the dents and such, it just looks like a regular Nova otherwise. Nice work.
  21. I guess the cop wasn't a model builder, he would have understood otherwise and gone with you! haha, "New hobby shop? why didn't you say? Don't you worry sir, I'll get you there in no time, follow me!" ?
  22. Cheers mate. Seems quite a few were. I don't know whether they were exported privately or if GMC had some sort of overseas deal. Thanks mate.
  23. Very nice. Paint looks clean and tidy.
