BRBO 2022. GMC Astro Cabover
doorsovdoon replied to doorsovdoon's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Fitted my scratch built wipers. They're not bad, they look a little more realistic than what came in the box for sure. -

Added a release lever to the fifth wheel and made up some air hoses to hang on the back. The lever is made from an old paper clip and the air hoses made from solder and then painted. -
What would YOU like to see as a model

That's a bad cast. Looks like it's carved from soap! Lol. Yeah, would love to see a P6, or even a P5B the sporty 3.5 litre version, although I never owned the P5B version I certainly wouldn't say no to building one! -

I'd like to see just one model of any car I've owned. There is a Morris Marina by Airfix, but that's been long out of production and the moulds don't exist anymore for it. I'd like to see any of the following- Mk1 or Mk2 Ford Escort, 4 door Ford Sierra Mk1 Ford Fiesta Mk1 Vauxhall Victor FE Volkswagen Derby LS Rover 2000 P6 Is that too much to ask? Lol. I'd be happy with just one of those. -
Great looking build. Love the colours you chose, and the background in the first pic is awesome. Very nice.

It should be part of their job description, "Must have at least three years experience in yodelling" At least then I'd hear him, rather than just leaving the parcel outside in the rain! xD

I've built the CHP Monaco. As a whole It's not bad and looks great built up, but the chassis is awful. Not as bad as the Yodel chassis though, from what I've seen.
-
I did find one video on YT of someone reviewing the Yodel model. It's typical of Japanese toys, good robust well detailed body but toy like chassis, usually made for a battery operated motor.

Thanks, Joe. The MPC Charger is always a fun build despite the fit issues it has. Fixing the ill fitting parts is part of the fun.. well, sometimes. Lol.

Modified the grab bars to look closer to the 1-1 truck by cutting up the ones in the kit, also made the bumper guard. -
Thanks for the links. I remember your Hunter build but couldn't find it. Yeah, the forum's search bar is too random, even when being specific with the options.

While browsing eBay I seen this 1/24 scale '78 Plymouth Fury. Looks really good from what I can see, and the box art is amazing! I've never heard of the company "Yodel". Has anyone built this particular kit, or other offerings, from this company? What are their kits like?
-
I know what you mean regarding metallic particles. Getting it to lay evenly is a bit of an art and you done a sterling job on this!
-
Nice haul of kits there! There's a few I see I have on my "to get" list!

Yes, I've heard it's a good kit, and looks soo cool! I'll make a start on it when I finish up my GMC Astro build.

That's some really nice work. Love the colour and the interior. Nice touch with the red dash and parcel shelf.

Thanks, Dan. The camera is a bit too kind to me to be honest. I guess that's a good thing, haha. Hopefully when I add the trim pieces and mount the cab, it'll busy it up enough to not be too noticeable. -

Thanks guys. Finally got the paint on, and I decided to add the wind deflector. The pinstripes are a bit wavy and not very sharp, lots of touch-ups on bleeds and fuzzy edges, but it's the best I can do. Masking pinstripes is definitely where I fall short in model building. -
Nice work, man! loving the colour, and those wheels look sweet!
