  1. Got the frame painted last night and finished up the engine. Also finished detailing the new wipers I made.
  2. They are indeed. It's always hard to choose a design on these big rig builds. I painted the frame white last night so I'm probably going with the red one, unless something else catches my eye, haha.
  3. Nice kit, one of my favourites. I built one up using the custom parts and it looks pretty good. Looks like this version has a different custom option to the Grand Slam box. Look forward to seeing this built up, mid 60's Bonnies are stunning.
  4. Yeah, there's so many cool designs. One design alone can look completely different just by inverting the colour scheme, and with so many different designs there's endless options!
  5. Almost time for paint. I've narrowed it down to three colour scheme options I like.
  6. Looking good, love the colour. Those wheels look awesome on it, very nice.
  7. Looks great in that colour, very nice build. Love this kit, I've built a few of these.
  8. The wiper blades that come with kit look terrible so thought I'd try making my own. After I did the wipers I tried my hand at making a functioning cab jack, lol. It might not work cos there's other bits I would need to make to attach it to the cab, but I'm having fun making these little mods and it's all practice.
  9. Thanks guys. I have a year to finish this so might as well have some fun with it. I opened up the drivers vent and scratch built a little door.
  10. Too cool for stool.. I mean school! Awesome build man, that's hilarious!
  11. I agree. A re-issue of any kit is always welcome however inaccurate they may be. Inaccuracies don't bother me personally. I like learning about the history of the kits, the comparisons between old and new always interest me.
  12. Sure man, hope this thread helps. I'm not very good at explaining the mods I do, I tend to get very long winded, though I try not to. If you need pics of an area I forgot to show just ask and I'll get the camera out.?
  13. oh, that's odd. I had a similar issue. The suspension pins went in the holes just fine with me but the right rear leaf spring hanger wouldn't sit tight to the frame because the hole was too low, the rear most wheel would have been lower than the one in front of it, only by a couple of mm. I just cut the pin off and glued the hanger tight to the frame.
  14. ... I then had to drop the rad as it now sat too high, and found it hit the floor of the cab after lowering it. Easy fix, just trim a couple mm off the lower sides where it sits in-between the frame. Fixing the cab height left little room under there but you get it all back if you do this fix.
  15. The engine has a fair bit of tilt to it. Looking at pictures of the real truck it looks like the engine sits level. Cutting off the engine mount and the plate on the front of the engine sump brought it down enough but then the cross member that sits over the gearbox was stopping the front from going down any further. I shaved a little off the back of the box and the crossmember until the rear sat high enough and brought the front down.
  16. Sanded down the rest of the inner rims, now the tyres hide the barrels and look much nicer. The wheels stick out after bringing the inner tyres in, so I cut a small amount off each hub, the part where the axle pin go's in, to bring them in closer to the backplates.
  17. Yeah, both the AMT and MPC moulds have been through the mill a few times it seems. I seen the MACH1 promo, shame the scripts are gone.
  18. Reading through these '71 to '73 Mustang threads has been interesting. I recently built one of the original annuals, and until now didn't realise that the new releases no longer have the Mustang script on the front wings.
  19. My current mock-up. Cab sits too high from the chassis out of the box so I lowered it a few mm and checking clearance for everything that's under it!
  20. I didn't like the simplified rear wheels, they look like barrels with tyres on. If the tyres covered them it wouldn't be an issue but the gap is too wide for my liking. I shaved down one of each wheel rim by about half so I can push the inner tyre closer to the outer one. The wheels look like they stick out a bit after that, but cutting a small amount off the wheel hub brings it in and actually looks a lot better as they looked like they were sticking out too far to begin with.
  21. I won't be using the round tanks on this. They are so clunky and ill fitting it's like AMT forgot to make tanks for it and threw in a set from a completely different kit, not to mention the ground clearance when they're fitted. This poor GMC wouldn't fare well at the slightest of railroad humps! I'll be using the square tanks on this, they fit and line up just fine to the locating points, these round ones don't fit anywhere.
  22. The cab still looked a little high to me so I managed to lower it a bit more. I had to cut the top front of the frame, just under the hinge brackets, for the cab to clear it when tilting it forward. Easy fix and I've seen some frames with those notches already there for exactly that reason. The only other mod I had to do was lower the fuel filter on top the engine about 2mm as it was hitting the cab floor.
  23. Thanks. They're from the MPC '77 Pinto. I don't know how the number plate system works in the U.S. so they're probably not right for this car. They were the only 70's plates I had.. and they look pretty cool. ?
