BRBO2022 - Official Topic.
doorsovdoon replied to wayne00's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
So this is where all the cool kids are! haha. I'm in. I have a GMC Astro I've been looking forward to building for nearly a year. -

Thanks, Monty. It's just aluminium ducting tape. I couldn't get it to curve all the way around the seat either without wrinkling on the corners so I did it in three parts, top and sides.

Really nice work on all. I enjoyed watching your build of the custom Impala, looks awesome.

Other than the annoying lack of decals or whitewalls this is a lovely little kit by AMT. Comes with an opening trunk with spare wheel, bumper jack, and a wheel wrench. I used some more realistic looking wheels from my spares and shaved down one of the hub cap so it can fit the wheel after the "brakedown" shots, lol. Another small mod I did was fit a better looking rad support from the '60 Starliner, that kit comes with two rad supports for some reason. Also added some heater hoses and an interior mirror. No fit issues at all, very good kit.

Gorgeous build, really nice colour and nice clean detail. -
Very nice NASCAR builds, love the colour on the '57 Chevy.

Now that's cool! Nice work. Round2 should do a version of this just to hide how bad the stock kit is, lol.

1/25 AMT Surf Shark 1959 Cadillac Ambulance
doorsovdoon replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
True. Round2 probably thought the AMT Ecto-1 was not as good as the Polar Lights version. Like Alan said, cue the argument of which kit is better, haha. They could have done a cleaner job smoothing over the Ecto-1 marks, but eh, I'm nit picking. It's great that we have a stock version, or as close to one. -
Beautiful stuff right there! Very clean work.

Just watched HPIguys build of this, I'll be getting one for sure after I tried, and kind of failed, to build a stock ambulance from the Ecto 1A back in the 90's. I noticed in the video that there are some marks left from where Round2 has filled in some areas from the Ecto1. I'm thinking they made temporary "plugs" for the mould so they can revert back to the Ghostbusters version because they will likely get a new licence after the new Ghostbusters Afterlife movie has done the rounds! -
Great work so far. I'll be following, I have the '73 version to build soon and love adding extra detail to simple kits like this and researching what certain parts of the real car looks like.
