  2. Thanks very much guys, this was one of my favourite builds.I think the Garnett red is the perfect colour on these body's, just seems to show off the lines. Roger, the short answer is "no" , the long answer is that I had a go at doing a carbon fibre decal on the hood... twice. Couldn't get it to sit right, then got a bit frustrated and thought, hmmm, probably never going have the hood on anyway. So boom, I have a hood sitting in a drawer on my bench. Just thinking now I should have another go at it... I'm sure if Misha sees this he'll give me the business about not having a hood on it. Cheers
  3. Thanks for all the kind words guys. Al, I love your version too. Misha, I do indeed have hood, that gave me a good laugh. I seem to leave my hoods of a lot. Gene, that is exactly what I had in mind when I built it! Your last ride should be hot rod hearse of some kind, make your last ride one of your finest!
  4. This build started with the Revell kit. I swapped out the custom rear lights for the stock unit from the AMT kit, then added carbon fibre decal on rear facia and PE 396 SS logo. Molded door handles were shaved off and my spares box provided new handles along with PE locks. Trunk was cut open and hinged. Inside of trunk is flocked, and has fuel cell, battery, sub woofer and NOS bottle. Antenna is guitar string, BMF trim, body is painted GM medium Garnett red. (I own a 1:1 ‘67 Beaumont in the same colour) Interior was flocked, roll cage modified, added a nav screen, amplifier , and used PE power window switches. I like to use 5 min epoxy for “glass” gauge faces. Turn signal lever is a pin with a small pice of tubing as the knob, guitar string used for door lock knobs. Motor is a wired and plumbed 396, blower came from the “Vandal” kit. Blower and alternator belts are made from masking tape. The chassis is lowered ( I like everything low), Cragar wheels from a Glidden pro stock kit, disk brakes. Exhaust tips are aluminum tubing which I use on most of my builds.   7. Wow, lots of amazing paint. Awesome work by all. My three favourites: - 41 Chev truck with flat clear - 67 Chevelle in med. Garnett red - 37 Ford in olive drab patina
  8. First time posting, here goes... I started with the Johan “Heavenly Hearse” I added a lengthened ‘59 Impala chassis, lowered the ride height, and then channeled the body over the chassis. The motor is from the “Wagonrod” kit with ignition wires. The Caddy rides on Pegasus wheels/tires/ and brakes. Aluminum tubing used for exhaust tips. Interior is flocked with embossing powder, has bucket seats, console, and nav screen. Paint is metallic black, with flat black “vinyl top”. I made a nav antenna, tinted the windows, then applied a LOT of BMF. Any comments are welcome, thanks for looking.
  9. Hi all, I have built model cars from the age of about 7, with the usual break for cars, girls, and ultimately marriage and a child. I build 1/25 and 1/24 scale cars and trucks. I like everything low. My interests vary, muscle cars, hot rods, rat rods, with favourites being pro street, and more recently pro touring cars. I started surfing this forum a few months back primarily because of the Desert Scale Classic virtual model contest. I quickly realized that I have been missing out on a wonderful community of builders. Looking forward to exploring and sharing. Cheers, Steve

  11. Hi Steve, as a fellow Canadian, I LOVE the work you're doing. What are the chances of doing a '67 conversion? I own a 1:1 '67 Beaumont and have wanted to build a replica for years. My scratch building is pretty good, but yours looks much better! Keep up the nice work. Cheers, Steve
