hey nick, i got the results from a german motorsport magazine site. radio lemans had broadcast live from nuerburgring. pretty cool. you can even talk to them. the german automobile club ( ADAC ) had a live stream from the start/finish line and in the pits. also, ADAC had live positioning of the top 20 positions. as a side note, my son, daughter and a couple of their friends were there; sitting on the long straightway. wish i could have been there. deutschland is sehr teuer! the best way to experience germany is to get stationed over there. then you have time to take it, and europe, all in. yeah foxer, it is always those little mechanicals that ruin it. a couple of photos.... nice grouping lexus formation new scirocco absolutely beautiful.... weeeeeeeeeeee weeeeeeeeeeee

radio lemans just went off the air. the gt had a problem and fell almost two laps down. it is the fastest on course right now and has worked it's way from 11th to 6th. it is running about 7 seconds a lap faster that the leading audi r8 and manthey 911. the corvette has worked it's way up to 13th.

a couple of photos...... the pole winning entry. even after a controversy, passing in a yellow flagged condition, the laps were reveiwed and the fastest lap was recorded without the yellow flag. alright! as you can tell, i bleed ford blue. a great looking r8. a fantastic looking pair of lexuses. this should be a great race.

just a reminder that this race is taking place this weekend. to me, this race is 3x better than lemans. 194 cars running on the nordschleife. everything from honda civics, an opel manta to audi r8s and even m-b evo II. fantastic racing. .....and this year a ford gt from raeder automotive has the pole! hope everyone has a good and safe memorial day.

CHRIS you have definite talent for detail, detail, detail. the chassis looks convincingly 1:1. great job. just one little comment, please do not take this as a complaint, just a heads up. the holley carb uses cathedral bowls; as such, the fuel enters at the ends of the bowls, at a 30 degree downward angle, on either side. here you can see what i am talking about. this is an HP double pumper. i have a lot of respect for you nascar builders. without all the cheap nascar kits, we would not have the great chassises to use for road racers. thanks for posting up chris.

hello gentlemen, i finally got the urge back to get this thing going again. i wish i could find that creative faucet. that way i could turn it on and leave it on. i started getting the front end together. still need to make the shocks and a little touch up paint. also started the motor, a BOSS 429! i started with the monogram small block chevy and converted it to a "385 series" big block ford. added deck height, lengthened the block, added an oil filter boss, timing chain cover and a bunch of other little things. built the heads and the intake manifold ( i think it turned out pretty cool ). the valve covers are 1/24 monogram's that have been corrected. removed the lip ( there is none on the 1:1s ) and the markings. here are a couple of pics: here you can see that the cowl, w/ intake opening, is complete. hey look, a BOSS 429. here is a shot of the start of the dash. here is the shot of the 1:1. notice the light above the number to illuminate it. too bad it did not get to run at le mans. oh well, back to the bench.

the original top looks way too formal. the chop looks great, only thing missing is a big, hairy forearm hanging out the window. great idea and excellent execution.

hey danny, your porsche is looking good. it is a great relief when you finally get the body painted, huh? just to let you know, i am still in this. the fiat is on hold until i get the torino closer to the finish line. i need to start moving faster. one and half months, huh? sheesh. i did not get as much done as i wanted but, progress is being made. the chassis is painted and the interior is almost done. still need the dash, shifter, steering wheel and a couple more wires. the office is almost ready to move in. please excuse the scraped off paint. the body fits so tight, it scrapes off paint going on and off. i also hope to have some paint on the body by this weekend. post up boys. later

oh randy. you hit a sweet spot. i love wagons. specially full size ones. they make perfect, practical street monsters. they can be made to haul and haul. great color combo and wheel choice ( i would recommend cast grey centers). that baby is going to look schweeeet. i would go with the 409 ( last year for it ). can you say Z-11. oh yeah.

OOPS! i messed up Brendon. i forgot to tell you how good your Megane looked. i too, like the color scheme. mine would be all yellow if built box stock. yes, you are correct. the body is nice and that is all intend to use. again, great job on the little renault.

the kit is from FUJIMI. i have the espana look kit number 12530. it is a stock car with rally decals. it says right on the box, "this model kit is not a rally car". that is why it has a stock interior. i bought it to make a cool tuner car out of it, someday.

time or an update. i was able to put in a good bit of work, on the torino, this weekend. built the entire cage out of .080" and .062" evergreen round stock. made the seat brace out of .040" angle stock. the seat is out of the revell '64 thunderbolt. the seatback was too high, so i cut it down. i will probably get it painted this week ( semi gloss black ). also got the grill finished up, still needs the screen and headlight covers. i will add these after the body is painted. the cage fits very well. looks good. not 100% accurate because i had to take certain liberties. i only have two pictures of the interior. since it will all be in black, it will be hard to see the difference. that is it for now. how about other people's builds? later

OK Danny. i am with you and here are my entries. yup, that is right. i said entries. BTW, you have a real good start there with your 917. looking good, as always. first, a little data about the Bowsher/Purolator Torino. the car itself looks to be a '72 body with a modified '75 front end. as you can see in the photo, the front end is heavily modified. looks to use the rear bumper from a '76 torino. ( notice it is flat ) an ugly and unusual front end treatment. it does add alot of purpose built character, though. i started with the Model King '72 NASCAR Torino. reradiused the rear wheel wells, removed the rockers, flared the rear quarters a little, raised the front wheel well openings and made new, larger front fender flares. here you can see the front end modifications. squared up and flattened. and now, the other build. this will be a fantasy build. i bought this kit a couple of years ago with no real idea what to do with it. well, now i know. i started out with the idea of a motor swap and a mild modification for a road racer. well, the more i thought about it, the more i wanted to go wilder. CAUTION: this might freak you out. yeah, i know. i was definitely dropped on my head by the doctor. flared the fenders, sectioned the body and sunk the roof. plans call for an old Alfa four cylinder hanging out back, a whale tail and a shovel nose front end. i know Alfa did not sell one of these micro cars; however, i was thinking about putting a chrome Alfa horse collar grill on it and painting it italian red with Alfa markings. what do you think, not too sacreligious. huh? here you can sort of get an idea of how small this little Fiat is. hope to get them done for this contest. thanks Danny

hey simon, Google Images is my best friend and SnagIt is an a great tool.

try using white plastic spoons. paint the spoon end and mark your combo on the handle with a permanent marker.

yes CAL, i mentioned the Olympia Charger and the Truxmore Torino. here is the torino on the starting grid. all four american cars were DNF in '76. also notice that the numbers are not on white rondells ( #90 ). i think in order to let the americans in, they went lax on the requirements. the american cars even flew the IMSA stickers. all in all, i like the idea of a NASCAR GT. if Bill had really invested in the concept, i really think it would have been a hit. the french loved the big v8s.
