  1. Thanks Buddy. I'm not really worried about the orange peel, it's the scratches that I won't be able to get out.
  2. Thanks James.
  3. Its Tamiya paint which is a synthetic lacquer. I'll wet sand it after I shoot the clear on.
  4. Well fellows.....the verdict is still out on this one. I wet sanded the Silver Leaf with 10,000 & 12,000 grit due to some trash out then washed and dry. Once I started spraying the Clear Red I could see the sanding marks so it forced me to spray a 3rd coat of the Clear red. Still not sure why that sand paper would leave marks. There is also heavy orange peel. I'm going to let it level out and cure and take another look at it but at this point I'm dissatisfied how it came out.
  5. You're 55 is coming together James. Once you get those big Ole meats under there it's going to look shape with that color.
  6. Welcome about Dave. Plenty of fellows here that can help out with the customizing.
  7. Nice looking. The red & white looks nice. I've built a couple of these myself. Nice kit and you did a great job on yours.
  8. Nice looking 59. Great looking color and those wheels and tires are killer.
  9. That's one nice looking 50 Merc. Great stance and love those wheels & tires. Just has that Gangster look to it. Nice build.
  10. Looking good there Buddy. That color looks great.
  11. I got a little bench time this morning. I got the suspension installed and I'm not sure about the orange. I do like how the wire wrap worked out though. I did a spoon test to see how the paint is going to turn out. I primed all the spoons with Tamiya white primer, then sprayed two of them with Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf, then Tamiya TS-74 Clear Red. The spoon on the left has one coat of the Clear Red over the white primer only, the one in the middle has one coat of Clear Red over the Silver Leaf, and the spoon on the right has two coats of Clear Red over the Silver Leaf. The one on the far right is the one I'm shooting for.
  12. Very sharp looking Chevelle. That color pops against the white interior. Nice job on the white letters on the tires. Great looking model.
  13. Yeah, that's a kewl looking Woody. Nice color and the surf boards look nice. Great build.
  14. Thanks Dan. I can always paint spoons nicely. When it comes to the body something happens. I'm hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
  15. Welcome to the playhouse Lei. Bunch of good ol boys here with a lot of knowledge to share.
  16. A Hemi works for me Dave.
  17. Thanks Buddy.
  18. Thanks james. I did a spoon test and I'm going with the Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf base coat then TS-74 Clear Red over the Silver Leaf. I'm going with the darker color on the right. That is two coats of the Clear Red vs one coat on the left.
  19. Thanks a bunch Chris.
  20. It's 66° and the humidity is 32% so I decided to get the body in primer and get the chassis painted. Turned out pretty good.
  21. Thanks Steve. Much appreciated.
  22. Thanks Ed. Well, I you have to be a modeler to get through that one ☺
  23. Really like the color and those wheels & tires look pretty kewl. Nice job.
