First order of business was to cut the snap tabs off the hood. I thought about cutting some pieces off the tree and gluing in the body to fill the cut outs but I elected to fill the openings in the body with Tamiya putty. If for some reason this doesn't work out I can sand it down and try something different.

Carl......since this is my thread, a little hijacking never hurts when there's good info about paint on a Willys involved. I've leaned a lot about painting on this forum but have yet been able to lay down a slick paint job like Mike's black Willys. I'm going to apply all that I've learned on this build and like my granddaddy use to say, hope for the best and expect the worst.

Finally finished this one. Had a few bumps along the way but all in all things went pretty good. The pickup is setting a little higher than I would have liked but I think it turned out ok. Thanks to the fellows here on the forum that told me about the dash needing to be moved rearward. I didn't put the spare tire in the carrier underneath as I was going to put it in the bed but decided against that as well. Like on my 1:1 49 Chevy pickup I carry my spare tire in my wallet.....it's called AAA. I had trouble with the bmf not wanting to stick and it was a job getting it to look exceptable for me. As always let me know whatya think good or bad. This is how I learn so let me have fellows ☺

I searched online for a while until I found one for a good price.

When I got out in the garage this morning the first thing I see is a letter missing on the tailgate. I had an extra so an easy fix. I'm done with the engine bay and moving on to final assembly.

Ok guys and gals. Just need to put the bumper on but I'm calling the box done. I got a little lazy when I couldn't find my brown for the dry brush on the wood but it works for me.

Thanks for the help Dave. No....the paint was not drying to quick and the part was dust free. I've use this paint for years and never seen this happen. When I tried it on the wood and it did the same thing I knew there was something wrong with the paint. It even sounded funny coming out of the nozzle. Problem has been fixed. Thanks again Dave.

Boy....that is coming along really well. All the detailing looks great.

Looks like it's comng along pretty good. My father in-law use to own an automotive shop and he specialized in VW's. He just loved them. He had two of the buses.
