  1. I'll just add it here instead of amending my last post: one of the more interesting segments of the modelfactoryhiro.com website was the "Mr Hiro's Hobby" segment, where he'd share progress photos on the kits he himself built - Pocher Classics kits in the main, of all things, and he finished them very nicely. Looks like he passed in the middle of his take on the '34 Rolls Torpedo Cabriolet. Sad to consider he's no longer around to finish it.
  2. Con Dios indeed. WOW. 63 is young, and that's a loss.
  3. *chef's kiss* That's as nice as I've ever seen that kit done (or many others, come to think of it). BRAVO!
  4. Did I mention Barbatos has great videos? I tend not to mind a wide-ranging thread myself, but one disadvantage has come up in this one. Even though Claes has basically declared it, I still have to ask, to be absolutely certain: that IS the Revell chrome you have on that Imperial grille/bumper, right? 'Cause those results are most emphatically not bad.
  5. Love Barbatos. Great vids.
  6. It was a kinda GM-looking Mustang. I've certainly grown MUCH fonder of it over the years, though. Nothing like its immediate successor to put everything into perspective...
  7. Wheels from the AMT '67 Shelby, mill from Revell's '69 Boss 2... ?? (or a 2-bbl 351 like the actual survivor - I forget, does the mainstreamer version of the Starsky & Hutch Torino have an intake to pilfer for that [and is it the right 351 series?])
  8. ^^YUP^^ Much rather they take every minute they need to get it right. And if an engraved intake duct is the worst we're dealing with, that's more than right enough for me.
  9. Well shoot, I got one right where I can grab it and look. Thanks for the heads-up!
  10. Heh. That's just exactly why I censor that tire manufacturer's brand and models every time I make a grudging reference to them. In addition to the implied joke about them hitting me with a fee for using their sacred trademark in vain, I figure I'll just spare them any inadvertent promotion too, however minuscule.
  11. I mean, the Michelins just barely queef by on the 6-series BMW too, I guess. But on ANYTHING '60s and Detroit? NUH-UH. Those square-shouldered ex P%$ygl@$ tires - first seen on the '91-issue Baldwin-Motion '69 Camaro - might not be dead-on for mid-year 'Vettes. But they are vastly more appropriate, from newer tooling, and aren't they still available?
  12. I'll have a wagon! ? Boat-tail Riv feels like another lead-pipe cinch just gathering dust. It ain't getting any less wretchedly overdue as time marches on...
  13. BTW, an Eleanor version - ?? The real one, not the later bad-taste Shelby ripoff Halicki's widow has fashioned into a shyster's delight? This tooling just gets better and better!
  14. Big BOO and a hiss for the return of those TRX tires. That vinyl tree has business in the RX-7, the original late-'70s FOX Mustangs, and almost nothing else. Most particularly when Revell-Monogram tooled a set of bias-plies to replace them on vintage subjects more than 30 years ago. It's almost as bad a gaffe as the use of the F-car Gatorbacks in the 1/16 Porsche 928 was a stroke of brilliance.
  15. Prob'ly also either non-exclusive or geographically based licensing. Both Polar Lights and Revell AG have Mandalorian Razor Crest kits, por exemplo.
  16. Said it before and I'll say it again: I just LOVE forensic kit examination! It's a bit like archaeology, checking one iteration of tooling to the next...
  17. I could go along with that. Do we know the tri-carb is the only intake offered on the original? And for that matter, Revell's old '56 had a retooling for some stock engine parts 'round '96 or so. Alas, I don't have it handy, so I'll have to leave that one to the cognoscenti...
  18. That '60 looks so sweet, it's kinda washed unibody thoughts outta my mind for now. ?
  19. Yep, but the 1:1 tips are WAY proud of the rear pan, and the original kit evidently had something to put there. Got the reverse lights, so that's good...
  20. Unless I'm missing 'em (haven't had too deep a look yet and I'd be happy for a correction)...
