  1. ^^YUP^^ Much rather they take every minute they need to get it right. And if an engraved intake duct is the worst we're dealing with, that's more than right enough for me.
  2. Well shoot, I got one right where I can grab it and look. Thanks for the heads-up!
  3. Heh. That's just exactly why I censor that tire manufacturer's brand and models every time I make a grudging reference to them. In addition to the implied joke about them hitting me with a fee for using their sacred trademark in vain, I figure I'll just spare them any inadvertent promotion too, however minuscule.
  4. I mean, the Michelins just barely queef by on the 6-series BMW too, I guess. But on ANYTHING '60s and Detroit? NUH-UH. Those square-shouldered ex P%$ygl@$ tires - first seen on the '91-issue Baldwin-Motion '69 Camaro - might not be dead-on for mid-year 'Vettes. But they are vastly more appropriate, from newer tooling, and aren't they still available?
  5. I'll have a wagon! ? Boat-tail Riv feels like another lead-pipe cinch just gathering dust. It ain't getting any less wretchedly overdue as time marches on...
  6. BTW, an Eleanor version - ?? The real one, not the later bad-taste Shelby ripoff Halicki's widow has fashioned into a shyster's delight? This tooling just gets better and better!
  7. Big BOO and a hiss for the return of those TRX tires. That vinyl tree has business in the RX-7, the original late-'70s FOX Mustangs, and almost nothing else. Most particularly when Revell-Monogram tooled a set of bias-plies to replace them on vintage subjects more than 30 years ago. It's almost as bad a gaffe as the use of the F-car Gatorbacks in the 1/16 Porsche 928 was a stroke of brilliance.
  8. Prob'ly also either non-exclusive or geographically based licensing. Both Polar Lights and Revell AG have Mandalorian Razor Crest kits, por exemplo.
  9. Said it before and I'll say it again: I just LOVE forensic kit examination! It's a bit like archaeology, checking one iteration of tooling to the next...
  10. I could go along with that. Do we know the tri-carb is the only intake offered on the original? And for that matter, Revell's old '56 had a retooling for some stock engine parts 'round '96 or so. Alas, I don't have it handy, so I'll have to leave that one to the cognoscenti...
  11. That '60 looks so sweet, it's kinda washed unibody thoughts outta my mind for now. ?
  12. Yep, but the 1:1 tips are WAY proud of the rear pan, and the original kit evidently had something to put there. Got the reverse lights, so that's good...
  13. Unless I'm missing 'em (haven't had too deep a look yet and I'd be happy for a correction)...
  14. No intended chrome tips. Personally, I don't have much use for bullet-style mirrors, and the ones numbered 306 on the old chrome tree seem possibly close enough to repurpose as those tips...
  15. MAN. Props to my pusher in San Leandro... (gave up and went mail order for the goat 'n pony)
  16. Well, y'know. Wish in one hand, licensing in the other...
  17. We may have a few of these in that color, then... ?
  18. Yup! DB new for this year (did I see EasyClick somewhere?) Reboxed (and re-engined?) new '71 Mustang for the Bond version. Non-exclusive licensing, just like the Round 2 and Revell AG Mandalorian Razor Crest kits, I guess..
  19. Ah, now THERE'S an old Monogram kit I wish would get the Tijuana Taxi/Rommel's Rod treatment.
  20. EXACTLY. We've been clamoring for the cloning program on the Buick, Steve Goldman promises to unveil items he thinks are "even better" than the '60 F100 in a couple weeks, and maybe that's not even the right box cover, or just a place holder. Gets me wondering what might be hiding in plain sight. ? Yeah, scratch all that. Went back to the other list, sez modified race car very specifically. What a lead-pipe cinch a renewed '66 Skylark kit would be, though...
  21. Saw that and thought eh, sure, AMT/Ertl '90s tooling reboxed... then I came back around to take in all on the boxcover that's not in the '90s kit. Which prompts me to wonder a little if I didn't brush the '66 Skylark modified off a little too quickly, too...
  22. Gotta say, I've found it pretty magnificent myself - just couldn't put it down all weekend. Notes for tire geeks like me: Here are the slicks. Being no-names, I'd think they're new, but I'm ready to stand corrected. I don't recognize the white-lined bias plies for the car from any previous release, so I'm guessing they're new for this one. Tread detail is about as crisp as what you see in the recently-tooled Round 2 Polyglas tires. They have the tread width of the smaller set and about the diameter of the larger ones. THEN, the tires they sneak in for use on the trailer: Which I find particularly interesting. They're very nearly the same size as Round 2's recently-molded Firestone Deluxe Champions; might be right for the upcoming '60 Ford pickup, and they'd certainly be better for the Lindberg '61 Chevy if they fit. All these tires are solid with an inner locating ring, a design feature I associate more with vintage Monogram than with MPC - which I bring up more as support for the notion that they're all-new, 'cause they're obviously not R/M tires. They might also just give us an intriguing little tea leaf or two to read for upcoming releases...
