  1. Those pix are in my other "hobby room"...
  2. Look Raul...someone else is just as sick as I am thanx Wayne, at least I've got company I'm not even going to attempt to cut thru Comptition Resin's body for my Brut funnycar...it's gotta be at least 1/8" - 3/16" thick I've only got so many #11's you've got a good project goin'...lookin' forward to seeing it come along guess I'd better get back to playin' with the resin beast c'ya curt
  3. Here's the only place in my house (garage) were the testosteron can roam freely (a wife with two teenage daughters) thanx for letting me share...
  4. Sorry Bro...but Peoples Choice is just that - Peoples Choice!!! having known the guys that run NNL West for o'er 20 years - there wasn't anything fishy done behind closed doors. Besides a NNL is a "model car show", it's not a contest - therefore no judges to judge! All I can say is there sure was a lot of beautiful and extremly well crafted model cars on display this year just as there has been in the past now your "dragster build off" is a contest and I wanna thank you for throwin it out there, made me get off my butt and get started on the Brut Funnycar that i've been staring at for o'er 6 months now c'ya
  5. Very nice Ferrari thanx for sharin' it with us
  6. Got the truck loaded and ready for the NNL West wife and kidz are out, had some time...so started playing with Mr. Capps Brut Funnycar here's a few pix of the start: all of the plastic/resin parts ready to go I used a top fuel motor - cuz it's bigger...kept the funnycar tranny the funnycar motor will find a home in another project attached the funnycar tranny to the top fuel motor, test fiting in the chassis along with the seat and rear end the front suspension has been glued to the chassis and the chassis appears to be fairly staright off to bed now...
  7. Good Luck I notice by your avatar you like John Force...guess what? don't get to excited about building a model of one of his modern funnycars...John controls everything that has to do with his team and he's really picky on what he endorses, so to build one of his funnycars...a modeler will have to build a funnycar mustang body, make their own decals, pick up the latest Revell Funnycar kit (late 90's), upgrade the engine, chassis, etc too bad - I like the look of his cars, but he does bring a lot to the sport of drag racing
  8. thanx for the compliment I started with Revell kit #4143 a 1999 and latest version of a top fuel car in plastic...it's been out of production for awhile but ya can find this and a few others at swap meets and ebay building a modern fuelie requires aftermarket parts, decals and some scratchbuilding along with good documentation not for the faint of heart...
  9. Yep thats the xmas tree Steve A mounted to the base we've got a couple of gassers goin' on it as a give-away for the NNL west I couldn't resist sittin' a modern top fuelie on it spent many a wednesday grudge nights at fremont back in the 70's Steve say he will send ya photos of the final display thanx for the compliments
  10. opps!...MPC's 1/25th scale I knew I left sumthin' out thanx for the compliment curt
  11. Finished...just in time to take to the NNL West on Saturday March 1st I have enjoyed watching Ms. Troxel run at Sears Point (Infinion Raceway) o'er the last couple of years. had pix of her car from 2005 and 2006...so when Slixx came out with a decal sheet for her car - got'em and waited to get up the energy to dive into this project I wanna thank those contributing information and diagrams on the plumbing, wiring ,etc from an earlier post, it helped a lot in getting this beast built I used various resin parts from Competition Resins i.e. blower, top hat (modified to get it up in the air) and resin tires...scratch build a few items, i.e. wheelie bars, front wing, front wheels, puke can, etc It's hard to get good pix of top fuel dragsters, just too long.... here's the model sitting on a base our model club will give-away at the NNL West (w/ a couple of gassers-not shown)...brings back old memories for those us in the SF Bay area... again thanx for lookin'
  12. Just finished building model for a friend purty much built straight out of the box used IndyCal decals on top of Tamiya's Flourescent Red Spray Paint finished off with a couple coats of MM Ultra Clear Coat won't be at the NNL West...its in Alurquerque sitting on a shelf in Dr.Wolfe's office thanx for lookin'
  13. Jerry Cardinal is sick...
  14. After picking up a couple of broken models that rolled off the bench ...I glue'em all so that nothing moves Plus most of the time you need to set them in place to achieve the ptoper stance, camber, caster, etc.
  15. I have not played with the Revell kit, but the Tamiya kit had to be one of the best times I've had building a model car - everything just fit perfectly. Besides the rear engine cover fit problem, a few problems did pop up: the rear body work is a little tricky attaching, had to play with to get it lined up correctly...also had the same issue with the nose piece almost messed up the headlight assembly...instructions have you place the clear lense on the bucket then install both from the bottom - normally you install headlight covers from the topside. Did not notice I had missed the clear lense til after everything was glued. Luckily with a little careful trimming they both popped in from the top. thanx for the comments on the F1 cars...they got me into modeling - especially all of those big Tamiyas when they came out in the 70's
  16. After doing a couple of full detail models...I needed to build something straight out of the box! Tamiya's Enzo Ferrari proved to be a good candidate, picked the kit up from my friend Hossain at last years NNL West. The decision to build this kit out of the box removed the carbon fiber decal ordeal... Tamiya's TS-40 Metallic Black Spray Paint gives a very good representation of carbon fiber for models 1/24th and smaller - yes "carbon fiber paint in a can" This kit turned out to be a real joy to build - the parts went together extremely well...only flaw was the fit of the rear engine cover, it's close but not perfect. Painted the body with MM 2-part lacquer Italian Red followed with 2 coats of MM Ultra Clear Coat I guess I can enter this in the "Modern Muscle Theme" at the NNL West, the finished model sure looks mean... thanx for looking...
  17. Brian you can find Raul Perez, Jerry Cardinal and myself @ Table #77 please refer to table map on NNL West website www.nnlwest.org
  18. Busy gettin' stuff done for NNL West... just finished a top fuel dragster (Melanie Troxel 2006 ride) build... kinda hard to get back into another full detail racecar, but will have to start on this beast soon if I wanna finish it in time, will post pix as i go
  19. Raul...you know i don't keep the models i build... the McLaren MP4/4 is the only F1 left in my display case so won't need a big box to haul it to the NNL West
  20. Very nice build partner me thinks from the pool of oil on the pavement, you didn't tighten the bolts on the transmission pan before layin' the truck o'er
  21. I'm not familiar with a female slide guitar player, but if name is spelt Raitz - we're related somewhere down the road not related to Bonnie Rait...dang
  22. might help your guitar playin...
  23. ya can find Danica in the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition... looking good!
  24. Yep...it's 1/18th at least it says so on the box, it is a little larger than 1/20th I think this kit is still available from Revell-Germany
