Yeah, you threw in the SWB 250 as well...hope to finish that one soon as well thanx
-
I usually don't strip the bumpers, grill, etc...but the flash and casting seams were nasty, so sanded them out and hoped to get decent chrome finish. Alcad Chrome and I just do not get along...so tried the chrome spray from Spaz - not too bad for chrome out of a can

This is the AMT kit #38451 slightly customed...used the the lower profile windscreen to give the car a lower profile, also tried my hand at tuck and rolling the interior, not too bad for my 1st attempt Tried to emulate the newer finish current rodders are doing with flat metalizer paint. Paint is Tamiya TS-50 Mica Blue covered with Model Masters Flat Lacquer. The finish came out nice...but does not photograph well. Lots of Bare Metal foil and used "Spaz's" Mirror Chrome paint for the chrome parts after 'dechroming' them thanx for lookin'...

Purty much built straight out of the box...just added plug wires, etc. Kit was given to me by Raul Perez with the body pre-painted, so finally got a round to building it nice old kit, excellent detail and went together fairly well thanx for lookin'...

The only problem I encountered was with fitting the windshield, had to clamp it in place as the glue set...other than that, everything went together quite smoothly thanx

This is a Box Stock build of AMT's "the Replica" (#32217) 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator with a Boss 302 engine. I enjoy building "Box Stock" occasionally because it puts the emphasis on how well ya can build a model...plus ya don't gotta buy a bunch of extra parts and decals to build it! Excellent kit, went together well and I am pleased with model... another "Cat" theme entry for the NNL West in March Thanx for lookin'...

It's been awhile...just finished building Dyno Don's 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator Funnycar Base kit is the Model King (#21786P) reissue of AMT's Kenz & Leslie Cougar Funnycar using decals from Slixx This kit is very simple and kinda crude...had to finish with the body propped open, cuz the body does not mate up with the chassis at all... chassis wheel base doesn't match the openings in the body, of course I found out after painting the body and the chassis was built This will be one of my "Cat" theme models for the NNL West in March Thanx for lookin'...

COMPLETE: Whit Bazemore's MATCO TOOLS Funny Car
curt raitz replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
Excellent craftsmanship...your attention to detail is fantastic aren't modern funnycars fun to build, exhausting though - I was totally "pooped" after building Ron Capps Brute Special I really enjoy following your builds on the forum...they are an inspiration and a benchmark to use as I "pa-diddle" with this hobby...looking forward to seein' what builds you have in the future thanx -
I use Westley's Bleche-Wite whitewall/blackwall tire cleaner...can be purchased at most auto supply stores stuff is fantastic...not only does it remove the chrome but also the clear nasty stuff underneath the chrome, it takes it right down to the plastic I've removed chrome from almost every model company out-there and so far it has not attacked (melted) the plastic it will usually last 4-6 months in a small air tight tupperware container...just drop the chrome parts in close the lid and depending on the kit manufacturer, the chrome is gone in an hour or two. rinse with warm water and away you go....

Clay...you can also try a low abrasive rubbing compound to clean up the unwanted paint on the body a cleaner /wax will work as well, but if it's too "waxy" it will create problems with clear-coating everythings looking really nice...you've really stepped up your "modeling prowess" I did notice in one of the first photos of this project, a claw hammer on the table...sometimes you need a lil persuasion to get pieces to fit I've got some extra F-150 (97 - later) if your interested keep up the good work

Drag Chute How to in MCM
curt raitz replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Now ya went and done it...you be a "published" journalist now!!! As I was browzing thru the mag...I saw the title and the chutes and thought - "that looks like Raul's chutes" then i recognized the cars and low and behold there be your name under the title... purty cool dude... Clay musta saw the article too...cuz he started re-posting your stuff all o'er the place good seein' them again I've been trying to build a "rat rod" - it ain't easy trying to make sumthin look ugly on purpose! that usually happens when i want it to be pretty... c'ya my ol' friend -
"Ditto"...I love the process as well. It's almost sad when the final piece is put in its place...cuz you know the relationship is over. Other times it feels great cuz the model was a real pain and ya just wanna end the relationship...

Actually she does not have an issue with gettin' a bike...but with two kidz in private school and one of'em headin' off to college next year - the motorcycle will have to wait Can only afford to build little motorcycles, and they ain't cheap either I've just finished some "katz", a Jaguar XK120, Sunbeam Tiger, Cougar Funnycar and Cougar Eliminator and a couple of "ratz" in progress for the NNL West How 'bout meeting for lunch next Thursday? c'ya my good friend...

Picked up the Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZR-RR motorbike at the NNL West in March, picked up a couple cans of the Tamiya Spray paint released for this kit. Had a couple of Tamiya Kawasaki Motorbikes needing a bright green bath as well...the KR500 G.P. Racer #14028 and KR1000F Endurance Racer #1412. I enjoy building Tamiya bike kits, probably the best engineered kits for the money. Enjoyed the experience not only with how the technology of racing bikes have evolved over time but also how Tamiya has progressed in developing these kits. All I can say is I'm glad Tamiya Spray Lacquers are really thin...cuz if you had to paint the Ninja ZR-RR with enamel paints - fittin' stuff together would be really tight! Here they are... 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR 1980 Kawasaki KR500 G.P. Racer 1981 Kawasaki KR1000F Endurance Racer

After building one of these kits straight out of the box...thought I'd try to have a little fun Inspiration came from a bike with a bare metal finish I saw at the Hollister Bike Rally So I whipped out the MM Metalizer Spray Cans and went to town, added parts from Replicas & Miniatures, scratch built the leather seat, handle bars and modified the front fork assembly - wrapping the exhaust wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...enjoy

I just recently finished the Revell of Germany kit as well built it to represent what it would look like as a club/vintage car racer fun kit... c'ya
