Welcome...I'm also married, but only two daughters (both in high school) the only room in the house with any sign of testosterone is the garage...my refuge for model building and wood working as well

Very, very nice... I've played around with Tamiya's clear spray (orange, red, blue, etc) paints, but it never dawned on me the flourescent paint was a clear paint as well...gonna have to play around with it on one of those Ferrari kits I've got. Lookin' forward to seein' this car at the NNL West c'ya there...

Very, very nice build...hope ya don't mind that I copied the photo of your plumbing work, can never have enough reference photos. I use your braided line exclusively...nothing else on the market comes close to it! It's nice to see you have time to build...

Was browsing "you tube" and found a video of the 1982 Long Beach Grand Prix...Gilles was disqualified after the race because the rear wing did not meet F1 specifications. The announcer was a little perturbed that they let Gilles start and race the car only to disqualify it after the race?

I'm partial to the blue Ferrari and I agree on seeing the Audi without that carbon fiber panel...very nice! now I''l have to pick up one of those Audi's Great Job on these builds, great to see someone else who turns out a lot of models... Raul primed me into posting my 2008 builds as well... c'ya

If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?
curt raitz replied to JAFFA's topic in Model Cars
What a great thread...tough pickin' a best picture I liked this picture of the Enzo Ferrari and I really enjoyed building the model... -
I too have been a little reluctant to post my builds of 2008, being a member of this forum for only a year also...didn't know if this was a normal thing or not I have enjoyed lookin' at all of the 2008 builds that have been posted so far. The big problem I have, as you know is the number of models I can pump out in a year...I know it's o'er 20 for 2008! being as though ya can only post 10 photos per thread, it's gonna take two if not three seperate threads to post all of'em ...probably take an hour to just pull the photos out of fotki...

If I remember correctly...kinda hard know that 'old-timers disease is kickin' in', Ferrari found a hole in the rules and used this dual rear wing set up at Long Beach. F1 banned this set up before the next race. Maybe some of the F1 afficiondo's out there can fully enlighten us...

Went with a few buddies to the Long Beach Grand Prix and watched Gilles Villeneuve drive this car thru the steets of Long Beach. So when Fujimi released the model...building it was a slam dunk deal, picked the kit up at the NNL West last March, the only thing added is a seat belt kit from Accusion Everything fit well, 'cept the body didn't quite set down on the chassis, ended up tackin' it in place with a little bit of canopy glue thanx for lookin'
-
Hey ol' buddy Having had the privilege to have seen all of these, 'cept the "future rat" in person... my favorite is the Salt licking Studebaker Avanti! I'm sure Clay just sits at his desk and ooggles at it! C'ya
-
Great job... I've built a couple of these, sure are fun and go together really well especially liked the tyres being pre-decaled/painted keep those F1 kits comin'
-
[we'll be seeing a lot more rats coming out of the cracks between now and early March!] e-e-e-w that could be messy!

Revell 1/24 Ferrari's
curt raitz replied to curt raitz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thanx for the information... I was studying the directions (yep, i read them) and playing with the parts of the 599 lowering the ride height should be fairly simple... where is that razor saw...? -
Soliciting some help and advice from any of you who have built these kits. The only Ferrari street cars I've built are of the Japanese ilk...Tamiya, Fujimi, etc These kits look clean, simple with good detail and minimal flash. Does everything fit and can I expect all 4 wheels to 'touch the asphalt' when complete?

What did you get for Christmas?
curt raitz replied to Farmer Wilding's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was raining Ferrari's this year...my wife and daughters gave me the following: Revell - Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder - Ferrari F-430 - Ferrari 599 GTB AMT - 2007 SEMA Special Edition 1967 Mustang Fastback and a dozen Callaway Golf Balls for my other passion in life wishing all of you the best... -
This is one "mean looking" car... looks as though it eats children in the mornin' I see you're up late tonight, Santa good to ya this year?
-
Gollllllllllllllly...you're right, what was I thinking Okay...I'll build it
-
Thanks for all the positive comments, guys I also wish they'd reissue these kits again...they are nice kits I was thrilled when Raul dumped both of'em in my lap almost a'feared to build the SWB Ferrari 250 now...didn't realize it was so rare thanx

What do you love about model building?
curt raitz replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Clay...what i enjoy about building model cars is it allows me to express my artistic needs with my love for the automobile in a venue I can afford - scale models. If I had unlimited funds...I'd be doing it in full scale, just like Jay Leno! One of the biggest benefits is the cool people I've met either personally or via cyberspace, especially those close friends I've acquired o'er the past 20 years. -
Hubert Platt's Georga Shaker T Bolt
curt raitz replied to Dave Wood's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Great job... I plan on building the same car, got the decals, etc. just one question, what paint and color did you use? again...nice lookin' model -
I run a black sharpie around the outside edge of the windshield, rear and side windows before installing them...seems to visually reduce the thickness of "kit glass"

One of the good things about living in the San Francisco Bay Area...no salt trucks - got a lotta blondes though!
