Working struts are easy...hinging the dang thing is the tricky part. besides "She Who Must Be Obeyed" likes it with the hood open...so there ya go Gee, I hope Chip doesn't get mad at me for using his name in reference to this model car...

Thanx - my free hand ain't what it used to be...I masked the glass, then sprayed Duplicolor Black Primer on the exposed surface.

Thanx Bernard... The box art on this kit scared me away for the longest time, was quite surprised when I started playing with the parts after opening the box!

Ya know I have a 1940 Ford "Good Guyz" model in my cabinet...guess I'd better get to work on it, heh!

This model presented a challenge to me..."Can I get Revell's flame decals in this kit to work?" The decals in this kit went down without any problem. My kudo's to Revell, their decals are getting better...actually do respond to a few decal setting solutions, primarily "Mr. Mark Setter" from Gunze Sangyo. After decals had set, I shot a couple coats of MM UltraGloss over the decals. I built this kit straight "outta-da-box" and I found this kit to be a pleasant surprise to build...a lot of chassis detail and everything fit quite nicely. I strayed away from the kit instructions regarding paint color for the chassis. Instructions called for semi-gloss black, I went with aluminum for better visibility when lookin' thru the glass. thanx for lookin'...

The Canon 956 is looking great I just picked up this kit along with Tamiya's photo-etch parts pak. remember building the Rothsman and Newman 956 years ago just recently built the Shell, and I too did not like having the "glass' pre-installed...what a pain!! lookin' forward to watching you complete this model

And ya know because the of the "little lady" likin' this model, I'll still have it in my posession when the next NNL West rolls around...so yes, ya better get yours built by then!
-
No they are not working struts...I cheated painted two seperate hoods...one with struts attached and one without than photographed it using both. The model sits on the bookshelf in my wife's office with the hood in the open position. thanx for the compliment...

This model laying around for years. "She Who Must Be Obeyed!" saw the model box in the model cabinet, liked the car, but not the color. Her choice for color was Tamiya's Metallic Red, so here we are. I've used the chassis/drive line from this kit as donors in other builds, never have built the kit straight up...actually builds into a very nice model. Rumor is that Lindberg is reissuing this kit along with the other Codrington cars in this series. thanx for lookin'

Was inspired to build this model for the LeMans buildoff on this forum It is a Fisher Model and Pattern resin kit, fairly simple...but builds into a very nice looking racecar. this it what ya start with... add a little paint... and it comes out like this... thanx for lookin'...

You probably sold this very kit to Bill at an NNL West 10 or so years ago... Looking great so far Bill, I too have been intriged by this kit...but never picked one up c'ya

I think you mean "It" should surely go...not "I" should surely go... Unless of course Scott gives you the car when he's finished with it...hee-hee

further tip, before Raul tells ya...best tool for burnishing the foil is 'balsa wood', hard enough to burnish - but soft enough as not to tear the foil

Hey Bernard...don't discard the old sheet of BMF. If it still sticks to stuff, it can be used for small trim areas, back-foilng head & tail lamps and masking, etc a couple of things i have learned about this stuff... be careful when overlapping BMF in corners, etc, it doesn't stick to itself very well it likes a painted surface better than bare plastic every little bump, ridge, etc in the paint will be evident in the foil and ya gotta be very, very patient when applying it as well...kinda like decaling have fun curt

Built the Ferrari 126 C2 Long Beach Car...posted on the forum quite awhile back, just picked up the Ferrari 312 T2 and the 248i again...really nice build, paint, decals and detail quite nice -

I've been a member of the Monterey Bay Scale Auto Association for the past two years. A couple of the guyz in the club browse this forum, I'm probably the most active We usually meet the 1st Saturday of every month at different locations...Watsonville, Prunedale and Hollister hope to hear back from ya... -
Being an aircraft manufacturer...they liked zinc chromate for the interior of these cars, at least that's what most of the documentation I was able to find on this car.
-
thanx for all the compliments although building 1/12th scale cars is fun...what you do with them after they're built creates a problem for myself. I'm a "builder" and not a "collector" as Raul and Hossain can attest to, so this model will find someone else's shelf to sit on, not just yet...though!

all that pie cutting is makin' me hungry... i'm gonna have to try it on some of my future rod builds... this car is really comin' along nice!!! c'ya buddy
