  1. Thanx, I shot a mist coat of TS-36, let set for @ 15 minutes than followed with a heavier coat...just enough to get an even gloss then let it set for a few a week or two then rubbed the finish out with Novus #2 and a a good cleaning with Novus #1
  2. Nick I will start with 'micro scale set', probably the weakest setting solution on the market...if not getting the results I want, I'll move to stronger setting solutions, i.e. Solvaset, Gunze Sangyo's Mr. Softener and finally Modelers Decal Fit Decal Fit will even knock down the old crummy Monogram/Revell decals...problem being is it's no longer available. thanx
  3. Thanx, but no thanx did the 'Pink Pig' in 43rd scale and went bonkers with that...in 24th scale the 'Pink Pig' is HUGE!
  4. I've had all of these in progress o'er the past 4 - 6 months... all hit the finishing stage at the same time...think I knocked off five of 'em in two days then it took me a week or two to break out the camera and in the mean time finished a couple more I'm not really pleased with the Corvette's, they do look pretty decent in the photographs though...
  5. thanx ismael...knew i'd hear from you
  6. Lots of Solvaset, Decal Fit and Mr. Softener...then clear-coating asap to keep them down thanx
  7. Those Halibrands have been in my part box for umpteen years...I think i got them from mini-exotics I plan on doing the 63 Corvette as well I love the chrome decals, a few have found their way on other Corvette builds thanx
  8. A decaler's nightmare...as all Martini sponsored cars should be luckily Mr. Fisher gives you 2 sets of decals, and you need the xtra one I have built a lot of Fisher resin models, they are excellent kits and this one is not an exeption. thanx for lookin'
  9. Had a couple of these kits layin' around (not the greatest kit in the world) When Vintage Racing Decals came out with the decals to do these versions, being a Briggs Cunningham and Bob Bondurant fan - I decided to build'em. 1960 Lemans entry by Briggs Cunningham, piloted by John Fitch and Bob Grossman Finished 8th overall, 1st in class 1961 Santa Barbara Road Race entry by Bob Bondurant thanx for lookin'
  10. Hey buddy, this is the kit you talked me into buying at the Hobbytown in Tracy...
  11. On researching this car, I found photos with chrome trim around the side windows and photos with the trim in black, gave the bare metal foil a workout and liked it
  12. Clay, the kit decals went down really nice...a nice surprize I think Revell's decals are getting better - go for it!
  13. Simon...I pretty much just built this thing per Tamiya's instructions...I'm not sure what version Tamiya used, but the kit does have the six cylinder engine...thanx
  14. 40th anniversary of this monster... Paint is Model Masters two-part Lacquer Daytona Yellow with a couple coats of Model Masters Ultra Gloss Clearcoat The little photetch script is from Performance Detail Products (don't know if the company exists any longer). I've had it for about 15 years...just waiting for this model. Putting the chassis in the body was scary, had to do a major bend job on the chassis to get it to fit...did invision things flying off or worse, snap in half. not the best photos...having a struggle with this camera to take decent close ups enjoy thanx for lookin'
  15. Thanx for all of the responses I received from the forum regarding building this kit...the ride height being the main concern. I used Ismael Gonzalez's Altitude Adjustment article in the May/June issue of Model Car Magazine to set the ride height. Also played with around with shooting Tamiyas Florescent Red o'er Tamiya Italian Red, thanx Brendan for the idea... O'erall the pieces all fit and this was a fun model to build thanx for lookin'
  16. Just threw a little glue and a can of Tamiya TS-17 'Gloss Aluminum' in the box shook it real good and here's the result... thanx for lookin'
  17. Clay Yes you can...but the decal paper should match the type of copier/printer you are using, either InkJet or Laser. After printing you will need to spray a clear coat o'er the paper, Testors has an spray for their paper, but I've found that any "clear" spray will work... When the clear has dried you will end up with one big decal, so each decal/image, etc will have to be cut out individually...get a really nice set of small scissors for this task If the decal you are trying to reproduce has any white in it, you're SOL ...need to get an ALPS printer for that and they don't make those any more! Good luck... cr
  18. I usually unplug the compressor when not using it, but will forget to occasionally...with pretty much the same results as listed in previous replies. My hobby bench is in the garage and what startles me is when the wife or daughter hit the garage door opener as they are pullin' in the driveway...it's a noisy beast
  19. Very, very nice... Can Am is my favorite racing series - ever...loved watching and listening to these beasts at Laguna Seca Raceway
  20. Cool looking ride, is kinda hard to look at an Aston Martin in Gulf colors though... the air intake nozzles remind one of the 'eye balls sittin' on a stash of cash' in the GEICO commercial...
  21. As always, I will be there...will be bringing 5 "cats" and 3 "rats"...plus a lot more Raul Perez, Jerry Cardinal, Steve Alamand and myself will be parked at a couple of the tables in the swap meet area
  22. Kevin, you do build a variety of models...I like that think that truck will be done, cuz...March 7th is creeping up on you... glad to hear you'll be coming up Nor Cal way for the NNL West lookin' forward to seein' your models and meeting you... Raul Perez and I are renting a table (swap meet part of the NNL) - swing on by and say Hi c'ya
  23. I kinda like it...at least they got rid of all of the winglets, etc... but, boy is that rear wing small, especially in relationship to the front wing From a modeler's stand point... I think you could actually build a model of this car, hopefully Fujimi, Tamiya, etc will pop one out for us
  24. That would be Tamiya's XF-16 "Flat Aluminum"...usually will take 2 coats to get it to lay down with a very even coat I brush and 'dunk' small parts with Testors Metalizers as well, never had a problem with "graininess", unless surface isn't smooth...every little nick and bump will show through
