  1. This is Fujimi's 1/24 plastic kit of the Ferrari 330 P4 as raced in 1967 it was a fun build and looks purty mean... would have been a lot more fun if it had come with an engine to detail, but there's not a lot of 330's out there to build...so there ya go thanks for loookin'
  2. I was digging thru the spare parts box and found this engine... everything is there (I think), except the exhaust manifold think it might look good in a early roadster the block was pre-assembled...just mocked it up with white glue for photo purposes anyone out there know what this engine is and which kits it may have been included note: the tranny was added from the parts box thanx
  3. Hey Raul...ya got that Stude Avante looking mean, very nice... I'm hopin' to have my Stude Saltlicker done by the Good Guyz on the 31st if ya haven't sent it off to Clay by then, we can display them together... even throw the old '49 Merc Saltlicker out there as well won't have the 61 Impala Saltlicker done though be addin' pix later of both... toodles
  4. I love the different wheel combinations, the cayman wheels i believe to be the best choice. went on maisto's web page looking for a set of tires/wheels to throw under my jada shelby gt500... i guess they don't sell these seperately so if ya find a set of wheels ya like, buy the model, remove the tires/wheels & dump the rest... kinda of a waste, but at $12.95 not a bad price for a set of tires/wheels anybody want an infiniti fx w/o tires & wheels?
  5. The MRRN magazine was put together by a group of guyz in NorCal headed up by a dude named Mike Quarterman...hope Mike doesn't mind me throwing his name out there. Mike also tried his hand in resin models and decals, "uMi-modelwerke" being his company. You are correct in this magazine being the "Holy Grail" to vintage racecars, etc. I have saved every issue they produced and am constantly going back for reference and just for a "good read". I was priveleged to have them do an article on a Lotus 19 I built from a John Johnson - Teapot Graphics vacuum form kit Still plan on building the Bugatti Tank they covered in the very 1st issue... The demise of the magazine was do in part that it wasn't puttin' food on Mike's table and he needed to have a "real job"...so he relunctily closed up shop. thanx for the memories...
  6. Glad to see I'm not the only one that "crams" my tenax glue bottle in a Tamiya Spray Can Top...works fantastic, although i still can knock it o'er at the most inopertune times
  7. OK, OK...I'll build a road racer...don't have any donks to build anyway! now we are talkin' about road racers that turn both left and right?
  8. Milt I've got about 4-5 different spray cans of chrome paint in my cabinet I'll spray each on a seperate plastic spoon (labeling which paint was used on each spoon) then after they have dried will get them to ya just use the samples to determine which one gives you the finish you want they may say chrome, but the results do vary quite a bit can mail to ya or we can meet in campbell, i work in san jose drop me a pm with phone # and we can work it out c'ya
  9. I think the theme should be "donks" we all build one...share our experience of building a subject completely foriegn to us then donate them all to next years NNL West as give-away cars. I'm sure Rex, Steve, Stan, etc would love to have a bunch of "donk give-aways" at the show just an idea guys... August is fine for me, anytime after that my Saturdays are full..Sundays are always open though c'ya
  10. evidently Melanie wanted her pictures back... check out her Top Fuel and other drag racing models I've built at: http://public.fotki.com/crtr8z/dragstrip/
  11. Really nice build ...I enjoy seeing drag racing models hit this forum, especially the later ones As you know it takes a lot of work to update the most recent plastic kits that are out there Its nice that Slixx, ProTech, Competition Resins, etc are providing products that enable us to create these beasts If you go back a few topics on the Drag Racing Models list, you'll find Melanie Troxel's Top Fuel Dragster I built for the NNL West welcome to the forum and lookin' forward to seeing more of your work

  15. Very, very nice build... I built the MOMO IMSA version of this model years ago using Fred Cady decals loved to watch and listen to the Turbo Porsches roar around Sears Point and Laguna Seca I take the Tamiya 1/12th re-issue is the Porsche 935, but wouldn't mind them re-issuing the 910 as well maybe a Lotus 49 while they're at it Aren't Martini sponsored decals fun...
  16. Thanx, do you have an idea why Tamiya went with pre-installed glass on these kits? also, are we gonna c'ya Sunday in Campbell?
  17. That's funny...I like a nice mature and pointed response to the troubled masses, kinda like: "let'em eat cake" Good luck, I still think this is the best forum out there & enjoy the tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime spent here, thanx
  18. thanx for the comments...something had to be done with the light covers, they did not look right at all I was not aware of the slot car history on these cars...that makes sense from Tamiyas standpoint, don't want your clients chasing windscreens all o'er the track
  19. I was s'sposed to build this model for a buddie o'er a year ago. Everytime I opened the kit, the amount of masking work involved scared me off. I will be in Arizona in May, and he's coming from Alburquerque to meet me picking up a few models I've built for him and his father...So thought this would be a good excuse to get this thing built. The kit itself is a curbside with very few parts, but the paint scheme involves a lot of masking. A printed masking sheet is included in the kit, but the patterns are not pre-cut...so ya gotta get the scissors out. Tamiya did something different with this kit...they pre-glued the windscreen, door glass and headlight glass to the body. If you do not get the mask for these areas dead on...you'll be cleanin off and/or adding paint after removing the mask. Clearcoating o'er the decals becomes a problem, cuz now ya have to mask the glass off again. The headlight buckets are chunky looking, I used silver decal o'er the edges to simulate duct tape, don't know if they did or not...but looks better than not covering the edges. Personally, I'd raher not have the glass parts pre-attached. Here's few pix of the build so far, almost done Tamiya TS-16 covered...awaiting application of masking stuff Tamiya TS-49 applied and masking removed Chassis almost ready to go... Pavement side of chassis... Body with decals, lookin' good... Chassis and body, almost done thanx for lookin'....
  20. You left... speaking of lunch, c'ya at 11:15 or so I must be in a gud spot, cuz have not had a problem at home, but at work it has been taking longer...just figured it was all the mo-mo's at VTA playing on the internet instead of working...oops that's me! back to sniffin' glue...
  21. Hooter's in Campbell...???
  22. There's a Hooters in Campbell???
