With a combination of a Chip Foose sketch pad drawing of a Dodge Challenger, a page of Slixx Decals and a 71 Hemi Cuda model waiting to be built...this is what I came up with: sold it on ebay...wasn't happy with the side vents ghosting thru paint thanx for lokkin'

The Can Am series was one of my favorite auto racing genres. I always wanted to build a model of the Frisbee 'Little Al' drove...did build a 43rd scale white metal model of the Frisbee Jacques Villenueve's uncle drove and how 'bout the RC Cola Special Lola Jackie Stewart raced? really dating myself, cuz I actually saw these cars race at Laguna Seca many years ago... thanx for bringing back good memories

Here's a a few pix on the progress of the BRUT Funnycar I'm working on... Body ready for decals...had a really tough time getting the 'green' right, mixed Tamiya Park Green, British Green and Dark Green - came out close. One problem is every photo of the car the base green color looks different, so i "guestimated". It appears the decals will be covering most of it up anyway... will post more after decalling...oh-h-h-h boy!! thanx for lookin'

If Only I Had Known Back Then

Thanx for the pix Andrea...it kinda explains why you'd let Clay play with an exacto knife in the back seat... My youngest daughter, before she met horses and boys would work on model cars just like that...family room floor, parts all over the place! good luck on the pending addition to the family 29 palms...eew that must have been nice curt -
Very nice Raul, cept if that was Jerry's truck the Playboy would have been spread wide open on the seat with the centerfold exposed... only problem I see is the vise grips he's using as a window crank & door handle is "metric" all kidding aside another one of your classic dioramas hope Jerry enjoys his as much as i enjoy the couple I have good job

I'm impressed...I think those #11's scare the bejesus out of me just sittin on the workbench...let alone in a moving vehicle the real question is - how does an exacto knife get into a vehicle???

Randy...where in Minnesota do you reside? I'm originally from Bemidji, lived in Circle Pines awhile before our family headed out to Californy a long time ago... I occasionally make it back to God's country (summer only-don't like snow), my brother lives in Grand Rapids...big model train guy -

Boy you are really going way back... yes that was my 'miniscurt raitzing' mini in the pits with the van, if you peaked thru the rear window of the van you would have seen two figures, male and female doing what males (mostly) and females like to do... sold it to guy who took it with him when he moved to Ohio about 15 years ago... -

Betraying my manhood...I read the instructions I photocopy the origional, gather as much info as i can on the model notate paint colors, detail, changes, etc on photocopy (instructions) test fit the parts as much as I can, build up engine and chassis, get the body to fit correctly...then paint the body kinda strange...I usually sell or give away most of the models I have built, but still have the origional instruction sheets for'em all -

Ran into the 'other guy' from D&J, Alan Ernat at NNL West, he stated that D&J was starting to change before he left...Randy left before Alan. Randy currently works at a hobby shop (can't recall name) next to Cambrian Bowl in the Cambrian Park Plaza in San Jose. He told us that they are increasing the model car selection and supplies...hopefully feeding off us that find D&J no longer the model haven it once was - sad I have not been to the Randys hobby shop yet, but plan on dropping by soon curt -
Here's what I've got going so far... quick mock up to find correct position for the engine, interior tub and pivot point for the funnycar body... still have some tweakin' left back to work....

Having already built Werner's "Red Porsche Killer" I couldn't resist buiding his Funny Bike. Werner is a popular cartoon character in Germany. Revell of Germany has seen to bless us with a few of the motocycle creations from this series...enjoy scale unknown, but it's big! thanx for lookin'

well... howz the build goin' I built this kit a couple of months ago very nice bike kit, just like all Tamiya bike kits are was worried about the yellow body color bleeding thru the white decal, but decal covered perfectly without takin' on a creamy color... have fun curt

Tamiya Alpine 1600
curt raitz replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Aaron met you at the NNL West...sold you the Alpine I don't know about Tamiya' blue plastic...but most of their plastic is somewhat translucent so if you don't paint the outside...the final color might change depending on what color is painted on the inside of the body had this happen on a Ducati motorcycle...red plastic looked great, clear coated it, painted inside flat black and the nice pretty red became a nice pretty dark red...didn't look bad just not the right shade of red my recomendation is use Tamiya's spray paint - you won't lose any detail with their paint have fun -
It be there...was on the table close to the blonde - you're excused

thanx I didn't have any photos to build off of other than the illustration that came with the Studio27 decals - noticed from your photo that the fuel cap was recessed and the slots on the hood are actually louvers instead of openings, dang!!!

07/08 Mustang Funny Car?
curt raitz replied to FlyinSolo's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The problem here is Mr. Force...love the guy, but he controls everything that has his name or likeness of his cars. I've seen diecast replicas of his cars at the track (Infineon Raceway in Sonoma) when the NHRA visits in July. A buddy of mine scratchbuilt a Force Fuunycar and showed it to John Force at Sonoma. John was very curious as to where he got the model until he was told it was scratch built. Mr. Force then got excited about the model, comented on the level of detail and signed the model. If you want a Force Mustang Funnycar in your model collection...you'll have to go the diecast route or hone up your scratchbuilding skills and find someone with an ALPs printer. -
Started with Fujimi's Dino Ferrari 246 GT kit (no engine detail) added openings to front bonnet, painted with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red, applied Studio27 decals, cleared with Tamiya TS-13 Clear and finished off with Bare Metal Foil thanx for looking...
