thanx...I'm gonna have to get and learn how to use photoshop good luck on converting this model to a slot car...building a static model of it is tough enough

All done, winglets and all... Caution...there a alot of itty-bitty parts in this kit after building this car I'm ready to tackle the new Hasegawa Ferrari 312T2... thanx for lookin'

I finally got back to the bench after spending three days in San Francisco. Enjoyed participating in one of my other passions...golf! I worked as a volunteer at the President's Cup @ Harding Park. Was a lot of fun and got to see 24 of the best golfers in the world. anyway got a little more work done on Bobby's car engine and tranny: pre-assembled body with tacky glue to apply decals: Body panels with decals: front suspension, side body panels, interior goodies, engine and tranny in place: rear suspension attached: just need to finish wheels/tires, attach disc brake rotors, and remaining body panels,,, note: with all the careful calculations I put into getting the decals/paint right on this puppy, I still missed...both side panel decals needed to be moved forward, so the #3 would clear the rear suspension connectors oh well...there's always sumthin' thanx for lookin'

I was thinkin' about doin' that...but would need to find a driver in one of funny aluminum suits they used to wear back then to make it look right!

Very nice build... I'll be checking it out "Under Glass" besides the flash, it was a fun kit to build, one that I've always wanted to build. good luck on the Deora wheelstander...

Don't think it's contest material, but it will make an appearance at the Sacramento NNL Model Car Show this Sunday, October 18th.

Well, I'm using the pictures of your Gurney Eagle as reference for this car... debating with myself if I'll redo the shocks as you did, I've never been able to pull that off very well, usually just try to clean up the ones in the kit and detail with paint...

those be my "painting elves", i just turn them loose at night...

In a race car building mood lately here's one I've always wanted to build...Bobby Unser's Rislone Special, 1968 Indy 500 winner powered by a turbo charged Offy, just love the color combination and 1968 was a very good year for me: Here's all the goodies acquired to facilitate this build: Really sweet little engine... Top decal sheet is from IndyCal, bottom decal sheet is Fred Cady's (included in R&M conversion) I will be using IndyCals Really nice tires, definitely an upgrade to kit supplied rubber... Base kit, not an easy build - been there, built two Gurneys already. Having done so, should help in this build. All of the parts needed... Here be the parts painted, next step is applying the decals... stay tuned

Hey...that's how I build Tamiya kits as well this is a great model for gettin' out of a building slump coming along really nice, I like the yellow as well lookin' forward to seein' the finished model...
-
It's difficult and I also find Fujimi's instructions hard to read compared to Tamiya's There is a lot of tiny parts in this kit with winglet options for different races. I tried to model this kit as it ran at Monaco.
-
The Fujimi F1 kits are difficult, just a lot of itty-bitty parts. Amazingly everything fits well. As I stated earlier both wing assemblies are very difficult to assemble...will need alot of patience. would not recommend this kit as your 1st jump into 1/20th scale F1 cars. Start out with one of the earlier Tamiya F1 kits before exploring the later Tamiya and Fujimi kits...

Just couldn't resist building a modern F1 racecar with all of the winglets and stuff stuck on these puppies... Picked up a set of aftermarket "tabacco decals" and the photo-etched goodies from Acu-Stion. primary reason for the photo-etch was because I could not figure out the tire decals Fujimi puts in this kit...could not get them to work pictured is the result of using the Bridgestone tire masks, Tamiya XF2 and an airbrush: Primed the red parts with Tamiyas pink, rumor has it Ferrari uses pink primer... Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red and decals: Assembled chassis, front and rear wing assemblies. Sorry, but i hate carbon fiber decals, so I use Tamiya's TS-40 Metallic Black instead. In 1/20th scale the carbon fiber probably is visible, but I believe in 1/24th scale it would not be visible, that's my excuse and I'm stickin with it : Just a word of caution...both wing assemblies are a "%#*(&^", not for the "fient of heart' other than the wings this model was fun to build, so far... next step is gettin the body to fit onto the chassis and I think it's gonna be a tight fit next update on this build will be "Under Glass" hopefully. thanx for lookin'

Louvers, Louvers and Louvers...
curt raitz replied to curt raitz's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
At this point I'm gonna give the rivet decals from Archer a chance, if they don't work out - I'll use my "ponce wheel", if that doesn't work...the model will be built without rivet detail...I will not be doin' individual rivets. I like detailing the models I build, but gotta draw the line somewhere...I'd go nuts doin' a kazillion rivets I'll have to see how much of an edge the strip produces, besides from all the photos I have of this car the body is really rough and nasty...not your typical Bugatti thanx -
Vroooom - Vroooom very nice...

Louvers, Louvers and Louvers...
curt raitz replied to curt raitz's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I just ordered a set of these, per the web page...they are a 3-D decal that applies just like regular wet decals. So moving around curves and the film edges should not be a problem. These decals are designed for the railroad and armor modelers and they are a pretty fussy about detail I have the chassis and body panels done, so when I get the louvers and rivet stuff figured out, I will be doin' a thread for the forum on the Bugatti Tank...stay tuned. -
I'll throw in a couple of my corvettes, mostly racing ones though... Guess I'm gonna have to build that Zr06 sitting on the shelf...
