Thank you Sir... "###### Cranky" has been very helpful with the photo stuff
-
The white area is a decal from Indycals, wraps around nicely and is fairly opaque The origional kit decals were shot (water-damaged)
-
Thanx It's really simple, I'll put together a few photos of how I do it and put in the "Tips, Tricks and Techniques" Forum I use a really fine mesh screen for these.

I always have a Formula One kit of some sort on my hobby bench...seem to get one done about every two months. The latest is Tamiya's 1/20th scale Ferrari 312T3. This kit has been in my cupboard for at least 15 years. Decals were shot, got a set from Indycals for the Gilles Villeneuve car he raced to his 1st victory in the 1978 Canadian GP. typical Tamiya...everything fit except the cowling does not sit flush on body only thing added to kit was the mesh screens on the intakes Enjoy: you can see where the cowling does not fit, especially near the left rear corner... The thing I like about photos...they bring out the spots you missed, need to paint the botlle caps on brake resivoirs black and the fire extinguisher needs the retaining straps painted. Still to build...Tamiya 1/20: Ferrari F60, Brabham BT46 & BT50, McLaren MP4/8 Ford; Fujimi 1/20: McLaren MP4/6; Hasegawa 1/24: Ferrrari F1-89; Jorgenson Resin: Parnelli VPJ4 and Tamiya 1/12: Ferrari 312T4 Thanx for lookin'

WORKS EVERYTIME...

The kit comes with either set up, 4 Webers or 2 4-barrel carbs including manifolds for both
-
Thanx Darin, I enjoyed lookin' at the cobras on your fotki site, very usefull information for future builds I have another one of these kits to build, but am thinkin' about just building as a street car w/dual carb set up.

I received this model from Raul Perez at the NNL West, always wanted to build it...finally got my chance Started out to build replica of the car Ken Miles drove...but not possible in this scale with this kit So I found a black & white sketch of this car as an "A" Production SCCA race car Modified by adding oil cooler scoop to the front, redid the trunk area, added roll bar support, made intake stacks for the Webers (aluminum tubing), scratch built front/rear jack supports and made the decals. Don't know if this car ran the 4-Webers or not but I think they look cool and the engine in this kit is "BIG" Paint is Scalefinishes "Ford Guardsman Blue", Model Cal Masters "Classic White" and Tamiyas "Chrome Yellow" Enjoy: Thanx for lookin'

Finis... Moving on to Underglass... thanx for lookin'

Good Morning Bernard was wondering what happened to ya, haven't seen ya on the board since the NNL West One problem with a camera that gets in really close is that it doesn't lie...all the little nicks, bumps, etc. pop out I really like this model, you're doin' a great job... c'ya

Decided to build the #92 Car, Using Scale finishes Ford Guardsman Blue: Body painted, white stripes and roundels done... Headers, wheels and tires done... Interior done... Dash ready for gauges, etc... Yellow stripes, decals, doors, hood, trunk and windscreen done... Just need to put the body on the chassis (always scary...), install roll bar w/brace and wait for the white "AP" dry transfers to arrive @ the LHS... thanx for lookin'
-
Peter Very, very nice job on this model from one F-1 modeling fan to another can't wait to see which one ya build next...
-
That would be a question for Mr. Scalefinishes like I stated earlier...I've never had a reason to thin his paints
-
Excellent Paints...no need to thin, spray in airbrush straight from bottle, cleans up with lacquer thinner his paint comes as an acrylic enamel (no gloss coat needed) or as a base coat (gloss coat needed) have not had an issue with any of his paints...MM Ultra Gloss Clear Coat goes over his base coats w/o a problem nice assortment of colors and if ya need a special color, he will work with you extremely fast shipping...once order is placed He's also a member of this forum

Looks great, I built this kit years ago...was fun and looks great when done decals were a lot of fun again, great job on this model
-
Well... the Ken Miles version is not possible, not with this build anyway I did find this A Production SCCA racer online, will only require redoin' the exhaust to the kit configuration, putting the holes for the side exhaust back in, new set of decals and adding yellow stripes to the left front fender. I don't know what induction this car ran, but mine will have the 4 Weber setup or I could build this version... Nope, don't think so... Progress on engine and chassis, so far... thanx for lookin'

While the front end work you've done is correct for any other 427 S/C Cobra, it is unfortunately all wrong for CSX3002... CSX3002 had a 289 style grill opening, and a different oil cooling scoop. Another hitch in your plan is that csx3002 has FIA 289 style wheels that aren't available in 1/16 scale. An accurate model of CSX3002 would be quite a sight in 1/16 and would really be a challenge but there are easier Competition 427s to replicate from this kit. Here is a link to all my 427 Cobra reference pictures. I hope it helps you.

My good budy Raul Perez gave me this kit as we were sharing a table at the recent NNL West. He and Steve Alamand told me it was a good kit. only problem was the body was broken under the drivers door. I've always been interested in this kit, it has been around for a long time and it's big! Of course I can't just build it straight from the box...I want to build a replica of the car Ken Miles drove at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1965. This meant a little work on the exhaust, it dumps out under the body, fabricating a windscreen, roll cage, modifying the dash, etc. Gee...I thought finding photos of this car would be easy, not! I was able to come up with a couple, which appear to be restorations, oh well time to dig in... First thing, I had to add the scoop for the oil cooler, found a scoop in the parts bin and with a little glue and putty: Filled openings in body for exhaust and repaired break in body... Filled holes and ground down stock windshield supports... Already for some primer coats... thanx for lookin'

Coming along on the build, just gotta put the body and chassis together... thanx for lookin'...c'ya later
