  1. Now that I've seen your artwork, I may revert back to making it a woodie. If so, It' will be a dark burgundy color with the light and dark wood trim. Your thoughts?
  2. kinda makes ya walleyed, heh!
  3. Thanx Peter I just picked up the 1/20 Tamiya F60 at the LHS and found out Hasagawa or Fujimi are coming out with a 1/20 scale McLaren MP4/6
  4. thanx Randy...Niki Lauda is one of my favorite F1 pilots...
  5. The ducts are clear parts in the kit, just dusted them with Tamiya's dark yellow the intake screens are from the p.e. detail kit...of course there were only 11 in the box, so i had to make the 12th can you pick out the one i made? thanx
  6. What a joy this kit was to build...everything fit well, except the dang cowl does not sit down as it should... besides ya need to have it off to see all of the nice detail in this kit. I did use the aftermarket detail set available from Hasaegawa to build this kit, enjoy... this is the view most racers had of Niki Lauda's Ferrari... thanx for lookin'
  7. Thanx, I plan on building another one to use as a photo back drop...a little bit bigger with the same concept: street, shop and junk yard scenes
  8. all of the brick work surfaces can be found in any decent model train shop G-guage is the closest to 1/25th scale also plastruct has brick sheets in all scales good luck on the gas station
  9. Thanx fixed my signature...but this is all the program will allow me to enter, not as user friendly as before...can't even stick a Groucho Marx quote on the signature.
  10. Thanx Buddy...yeah I've got two of'em built, might try and get the Ferrari 312 T4 done by years end. Just too big and nice lookin' to part with, plus trying to ship these things after selling them on eBay is just to risky
  11. No "Preressurection" shots, I just dug in and started building sometimes it feels good to build just thinkin' of the build instead of thinkin' about takin' pictures of it while i'm doin' it, if ya know what i mean...
  12. So far, so good...everything has been fitting w/o a problem i can see if the rear section is warped just a little bit it there would be problems I don't plan on adding the resin engine transkit on this build, will on the next 917 i build typical fujimi kit...itty-bitty and super-thin parts
  13. Our club...The Monterey Bay Scale Auto Association were trying to come up with a club project/giveaway for this years NNL West. I presented the idea of a three part diorama: a 40 Ford in junk yard, in repair/body shop and street scene of finished street rod, but we went a different direction. I hadn't built a diorama in awhile so what the heck, I''l build it myself for the NNL West. Only problem is when I got it done, now what do you do with it? As I was packing up my stuff for the NNL West, it occurred to me to give it to the guyz runnin the NNL West as a giveaway...just hoped Rex Barden thought it to be worthy of being a giveaway prize. Anyway here it is... Thanx for lookin'...plus the expression on the kids face that won it was priceless (George Mattox's grandson)
  14. This kit started as an eBay (gluebomb) purchase for $29.00. All that was missing was a brake caliper, which I made a resin cast of, so no problem there. The windscreen was cracked, so vacuum formed a replacement. I fabricated mesh screens for the injector tubes from brass screen. I decided to build the #21 car Jim Clark drove to a 6th Place finish in the Belgian GP in 1967 (had an aftermarket decal sheet with this version and it did not require any changes to the windscreen) The Tamiya kits of this era came with electric motors and required batteries. I did not install the electric motor or batteries...but did epoxy a few lead fishing weights to give some weight to the car so the suspension would move. I forgot what a nightmare the suspension is to build on this model, extremely fragile just like the real cars...everything is glued solid! Enjoy... thanx for lookin'...
  15. Finally got started on this one... Building this car with this model... and using a little photo etch from Studio 27... Painted the body with Gunze Sangyo Red Madder acrylic paint via air brush... Body with kit decals applied, not as easy as it looks... Now that the body is mostly done, gotta get movin' on the chassis , etc... more to come, thanx for lookin'
  16. Good to see ya back Clay...we (Raul and I) were talking about ya at the NNL West check out the photos Gregg has posted, I think he photographed them all now get back to the workbench...
  17. Hey Bernard car came out great, even with Raul helping ya out enjoyed seeing you again and your cars at the show...keep up the good work
  18. Hey Gregg...put me down for a XX T-shirt on Sunday, heh! lookin' forward to seein' ya thereB)
  19. finished... will make the "Racecar Theme Table" at the NNL West afterall It was fun to rescue this "gluebomb" hope you enjoyed the ride, thanx
  20. I can loan you a couple of elves...
  21. I will do both...depending on how wide and complex the stripe(s) are. if pinstriping, i'll use decals... never had a problem clearcoating over decals (use Modelmasters Ultra Gloss Clearcoat) two mist coats followed by a heavy coat usually always have to clearcoat over stripes to knock the edges down, wether painted or decaled the advantage of decals over painting is...paint doesn't kreep under a decal!
  22. Hi Kevin, good to see you on the forum of course I'll be at the meeting hopefully the news will be good regarding Larry c'ya
  23. I used the BHP Enterprises TransAM Mustang Transkit, Revell's Rain-X TransAm Camaro and a set of Slixx Decals for this build. Once the resin transkit was cleaned up, flash wasn't bad at all, wheels are delicate...so took it easy cleaning those. The extra effort was worth it, the wheels look great compared to those in the kit. I originally was going to use the resin body from Competition Resins, but the BHP Enterprises body is better and closer to scale The inspiration: Body and Chassis: Wheels and Tires: One finished TransAm Mustang: Thanx for lookin'
  24. Tubs will have to wait...it's done will be able to join the other TransAm Cars at the NNL West now: Will be moving "underglass" thanx for lookin'
  25. Moving along, I got a little carried away and attached the rear body work w/o photos of the engine and transaxle The business end of a good CanAm Car... Front body work and doors with vacuum formed glass attached... Almost finished, mirrors need painting, "Reynolds Aluminum" decals for rear wing, etc.
