After building his awb chevelle I had the decals left over to build the nova so that’s what I did. When I altered the rear wheels I have the axle to far forward in the wheel openings . If I feel inspired in the future I might go back and fix it , but until then it’s resting on the finished shelf. Heres the parts break down AMT 1966 pro street nova : body ,chassis, interior, rear AMT Awb Chevy 2 : injection set up , rear wheels , chute AMT AWB 65 Chevelle: wheelie casters AMT 63 Corvette: headers revell/monogram 55 Chevy badman : front leaf springs Lindburg 1964 dodge : front wheels Roll bar : 0.080 styrene rod front axle : aluminum tubing parts box : slicks , front tires, shifter , engine Slixx : decals Tamyia : Italian red

Really sweet build I really like the color . Great job on the vinyl top with all that added roof trim
-
Man it looks great zip I have fond memories of seeing this car at atco’s night of thrills . I brought a tee shirt from him and literally wore it until it fell apart
-
Your dart looks fantastic I built one quite a few years back using the revell body with a polar lights chassis. A word to the wise with the slixx decals I keep the water really hot I like to use my electric tea pot and then adjust the temperature by adding some cold out of the tap with a squirt of dawn dish soap.

I build nothing but drag cars and I couldn’t be happier although I would like to build a few ramp trucks to go with them . I always thought it would be really cool to build Ivo’s dodge hauler complete with the corvette on the roof. You’re slingshot looks far out love the paint and decal job
-
It looks great I can’t hardly wait to see you build the hauler to go with it. I’ve gotta say I’m slightly jealous of that hot and dry perfect painting weather you have out there. It’s really neat to see a wedge Sox & Martin car as most were hemis
-
That’s a fine looking slingshot you have a great collection

Man that came out super nice you really got all the small details like the tach cable and t handle , glass packs, greenish color on the lower control arms , etc . Then there’s that gorgeous hemi it all looks amazing well done

This is a kit bash with most of the parts coming from the amt 66 nova pro street kit with body mods to the rear wheel wells moving them forward . Most of the other parts are from the Chevy 2 funny car . I had been wanting to build this for quite some time then finally the decals became available and game on . The body took me 3 paint jobs to get it to look this good . Here’s the breakdown AMT PRO STREET NOVA : body , chassis, interior AMT CHEVY 2 FUNNY CAR : engine , front leaf springs & axle & wheels. Chute PARTS BOX : rear wheels, slicks , front tires SCRATCH BUILT: roll cage 0.080 styrene rod TAMYIA: Metalic green CHUCK BOENER: decals until next time thanks for looking Mike

Yes I came across it on eBay it must have been six years ago . I have no idea who the maker was it was definitely made to be this funny car as it looks narrower and it has a slightly stretched wheel base than a stock body would have . I’ve only ever seen one other come up for sale. Maybe someone on this form would know who made it and possibly where to get one . I’m using the bantam blast as my donor kit . This one has been on my bench for years. I would really like to use a Buick engine, but I just don’t have one . There’s just not a lot of Buick kits from that era . I would think it would make good business sense for round 2 to clone the 66 skylark kit

i constructed this with parts from several great kits. The body is a mixture of a MPC body and the polar lights body as I showed on the wip drag racing part of this form . It all fit together really nice. I did this because I wanted a body with a stock unchopped roof line . It came out so good that I’m going to build a couple more bodies this way. The paint job was a little tricky as it’s a rattle can mixture of testors lime ice misted over Inca gold lacquer topped with Tamyia clear I used emerald green on the chassis . I had been wanting to build this one for quite some time now , and thanks to Joe at FREEMONT RESIN it is now possible with his new decals. This issue of SUPER STOCK Magazine has most of the reference photos you will need. Here’s the breakdown MPC 69 Barracuda: body POLAR LIGHTS Barracuda funny car: body parts AMT MACH WON : chassis, slicks , front tires, chute , fuel tank , headers, injector hat , interior tin , front wheels AMT PARTS PACK: 392 HEMI COMP RESIN: moon valve covers TESTORS : paint FREEMONT RESIN : decals PARTS BOX : rear wheels ROLL CAGE .080 styrene rod until next time thanks for looking, Mike

That’s some really great thinking and engineering by using that multi maverick body . This process could be used for the Mickey Thompson or the LA Hooker cars . Both decal sets are available from slixx . I can believe I never thought to use that body for a funny car oh the possibilities. Thanks so much for posting it looks great by the way. The MACH WON chassis would also be a great donor as those cougar kits are getting harder to find at a reasonable price. Not even to mention all of the extra parts left over for other projects.

This makes a great slump buster build . Kudos to round 2 for making the new tooling as the fit was great . I highly recommend it . As for the build with a quick raid of the parts box a can of tamyia Italian red and some decals from slixx and voila it just falls into place . Most of the reference photos I’ve seen the car has carbs on a cross ram although I’m pretty sure the car was run with injectors on occasion so either should correct. In my opinion the AMT Chevelle body has more correct proportions than the Revell body. It might make good business sense to make a stock wheel base curb side version. AMT Chevelle funny car kit AMT Chevy 2 funny car kit : engine , radiator support AMT JIMMY : rear wheels AMT 62 Bel air : intake manifold AMT MACH WON : Slicks , front tires AMT 65 Elcamino : dashboard, seats, firewall AMT Ohio George 33 Willy’s : front wheels Slixx : Decals Tamyia : Italian red

What happened to the red white and blue? Just kidding your builds always look fantastic.

I built this one by kit bashing the mpc 68 cougar funny car chassis combined with the body from the amt 1969 cougar. The cougar’s front wheel wells were cut out and moved forward, and patch panels were made to fill in the void. The paint job was all done with Testors rattle can lacquers Daytona yellow, white , and Deja Blue. The decals for this build are more complicated I originally had a set that came from penguin decals even though they went on nice and looked pretty good they weren’t 100 % accurate then Chuck Boener made a set . So I got a set from him and used the sail panel , small sponser decals on the rockers, the deck lid , and front spoiler. Overall the build looks really sharp . Parked next to the 68 car you can really see the difference in bodies and the reverse paint scheme. It might be the only way to see them side by side . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

Wow such a cool vision you made a small block Chevy look huge

I built this box stock from the model king reissue as the original issue kit that I had was somewhat of a glue bomb , plus I didn’t want to paint over the original pearlescent body . As for the fade paint job I used all testors lacquers Daytona yellow, white, and Deja blue topped with wet look clear . The decals are from Slixx .

It’s going to spend some time on the stalled project shelf . I still have to make up some wheelie bars and find a hood scoop -

It’s time to pull another one off of the obscure unfinished shelf of funny car projects. It’s still in the early stages as the early version of this car had a fuel burring Buick motor from the previous year’s 67 skylark THE SUPER BIRD . The latter version used a 392 HEMI which I already have . Ah choices.

I built this by using the amt 67 comet body over the polar lights chassis. That’s it a nice and simple kit bash. All though if I were building this again I would extend the roll cage bars higher up which I might have to go back and redo . I did use a front spoiler from mpc’s 68 cougar funny car.Paint is tamyia and the decals came from slixx. Note the white pin stripe decals are super tricky to not break if I was doing this again I would start out by cutting them into 3 pieces. One of the best magazine covers ever dusk at OCIR’s tower of power . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

Here’s a quick mock up just waiting for a couple of parts to come in the mail and I need to try and lower the stance
