Sweet build and one of my favorite mopar colors
-
Ah you can never go wrong with the red white and blue. Nice nose graft you would think that the body came that way . Also nice work on the engine bay . I for one would love to see a complete reissue of that old mpc kit with some upgrades . Round 2 should know there’s a big mopar fan base for drag , replica stock , and stock car

This really captures the essence of the early 60’s great job
-
You made that lindburg kit look so fine . Well done
-
It looks like I’ll be adding to my box art collection
-
How about it round 2 I would buys bag of those tires
-
Oh yeah you nailed that 60’s gasser look this kit is also one of my favorites and it pairs well with parts from all sorts of other kits . Like the gasser parts you used from the 55 nomad
-
I completely agree with you these are very scary times indeed. Thankfully I’ve got a pretty good stash that will keep me going for at least a few years
-
Wow that looks really nice with that smooth black paint and the white chassis a sixty’s custom trick many racers thought it would reflect the heat from the strip’s hot pavement. The Grumpy one painted his chassis white . As he was always looking for that competitive edge

Don’t be to hard on yourself you’re really capturing the look very well

“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 102 DICK LANDY’S 1966 DODGE DART FUNNY CAR
M W Elky replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Hey thanks -
I really like that bench seat interior and that white will really wake up the Sox & Martin car
-
I built this a few years back and just used the slixx decals which are only close as they were made for the 64-65 cars . Woopiekat abruptly closed up shop before I could get the right set from them . Then along comes Joe Curtis of FREEMONT RESIN to the rescue so scraped off the slixx decals and on went the freemont’s . So I will now move it to the finally done shelf . Although not the most detailed build I think it really captures the jacked up Landy look . This is the earlier version before he lowered the back half of the car and radius the rear wells .So here’s the parts list altered states resin body : (NOW AVAILABLE FROM JOE @ FREEMONT RESIN ) it’s very well done AMT 1967 Dyno Don awb comet funny car : the back half of the chassis and interior panels cut down to fit Polar Lights funny car any mopar will do : front half firewall forward of the chassis, engine , transmission, fuel and water tanks front wheels and tires AMT Double Dragster kit : headers , injected intake manifold I used the valley cover paired with the carb mounting blocks from the 8 carb set up the injector stacks are parts box items left over from the AMT 66 Mustang funny car kit . Tamyia : Matt black Testors : diamond dust silver FREEMOMT RESIN : decals , the window decals are parts box clear blue sheet plastic/ .010 clear styrene sheet : windows AMT OLD PRO NOVA : Crager S/S rear wheels AMT Parts pack : blue streak slicks this was a very fun and rewarding project and not to hard even for a novice or someone just getting familiar with working with a resin body . It’s even better now that everything is easily available until next time thanks for looking, Mike

Your build looks great I agree Sox & Martin are high on the favorites list . For as nice and new as the revell kit is they really missed the mark on the body proportions it looks really chunky next to the fantastic johan body . Maybe just my opinion?
-
Now that looks like it was a fun conversion build it looks spot on . Kinda a forgotten W J car from the 80’s that must’ve been from when he first secured the GM sponsorship I guess.

“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 101 PHIL BONNERS AWB AFX 65 FORD FALCON .
M W Elky replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Thanks it’s really a pretty nice basic kit just like the early funny cars were Unfortunately no I only have a 7’x8’ room which leaves very little room for display. Lucky for me I have some unclimate controlled space for unbuilt kits and box art collection.Really I’m just happy with that much, maybe down the road when I run out of kits to build I’ll add on a display area . Right now the road looks long -
I built this straight from the model king release of this kit I did swap out the kits headers with ones that I made from solder and aluminum tubing. Which was my first attempt at solder headers my skill set making them has definitely improved. I also shortened the injector stacks the body is painted with Testors Italian red lacquer . The front wheels are resin and the back wheels are from the AMT 62 bel air kit . The slicks are AMT parts pack . The modern rod cover is a great shot. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike
