  1. It’s going to spend some time on the stalled project shelf . I still have to make up some wheelie bars and find a hood scoop
  2. Some more progress it’s getting closer
  3. It’s time to pull another one off of the obscure unfinished shelf of funny car projects. It’s still in the early stages as the early version of this car had a fuel burring Buick motor from the previous year’s 67 skylark THE SUPER BIRD . The latter version used a 392 HEMI which I already have . Ah choices.
  4. I built this by using the amt 67 comet body over the polar lights chassis. That’s it a nice and simple kit bash. All though if I were building this again I would extend the roll cage bars higher up which I might have to go back and redo . I did use a front spoiler from mpc’s 68 cougar funny car.Paint is tamyia and the decals came from slixx. Note the white pin stripe decals are super tricky to not break if I was doing this again I would start out by cutting them into 3 pieces. One of the best magazine covers ever dusk at OCIR’s tower of power . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike
  5. Here’s a quick mock up just waiting for a couple of parts to come in the mail and I need to try and lower the stance
  6. Really sweet . I sure hope we see this kit reissued again
  7. Some more progress I finished the interior and got a good start on the hemi it looks like I’ll have to order some M/T valve covers for it
  8. I forgot all about this cover until I came across it while digging through the collection for another project. This issue is a great reference source for this build
  9. Thanks for that painting tip they look spot on
  10. I was able to get the interior tin work and the roll cage squared a way
  11. I really like it with the lower look something different
  12. some progress on the wheels chassis and windows. Building really slows down this time of the year
  13. Sweet build and one of my favorite mopar colors
  14. Ah you can never go wrong with the red white and blue. Nice nose graft you would think that the body came that way . Also nice work on the engine bay . I for one would love to see a complete reissue of that old mpc kit with some upgrades . Round 2 should know there’s a big mopar fan base for drag , replica stock , and stock car
  15. This really captures the essence of the early 60’s great job
  16. You made that lindburg kit look so fine . Well done
  17. It looks like I’ll be adding to my box art collection
  18. How about it round 2 I would buys bag of those tires
  19. Oh yeah you nailed that 60’s gasser look this kit is also one of my favorites and it pairs well with parts from all sorts of other kits . Like the gasser parts you used from the 55 nomad
  20. I completely agree with you these are very scary times indeed. Thankfully I’ve got a pretty good stash that will keep me going for at least a few years
  21. Wow that looks really nice with that smooth black paint and the white chassis a sixty’s custom trick many racers thought it would reflect the heat from the strip’s hot pavement. The Grumpy one painted his chassis white . As he was always looking for that competitive edge
  22. Don’t be to hard on yourself you’re really capturing the look very well
  23. I really like that bench seat interior and that white will really wake up the Sox & Martin car
  24. I built this a few years back and just used the slixx decals which are only close as they were made for the 64-65 cars . Woopiekat abruptly closed up shop before I could get the right set from them . Then along comes Joe Curtis of FREEMONT RESIN to the rescue so scraped off the slixx decals and on went the freemont’s . So I will now move it to the finally done shelf . Although not the most detailed build I think it really captures the jacked up Landy look . This is the earlier version before he lowered the back half of the car and radius the rear wells .So here’s the parts list altered states resin body : (NOW AVAILABLE FROM JOE @ FREEMONT RESIN ) it’s very well done AMT 1967 Dyno Don awb comet funny car : the back half of the chassis and interior panels cut down to fit Polar Lights funny car any mopar will do : front half firewall forward of the chassis, engine , transmission, fuel and water tanks front wheels and tires AMT Double Dragster kit : headers , injected intake manifold I used the valley cover paired with the carb mounting blocks from the 8 carb set up the injector stacks are parts box items left over from the AMT 66 Mustang funny car kit . Tamyia : Matt black Testors : diamond dust silver FREEMOMT RESIN : decals , the window decals are parts box clear blue sheet plastic/ .010 clear styrene sheet : windows AMT OLD PRO NOVA : Crager S/S rear wheels AMT Parts pack : blue streak slicks this was a very fun and rewarding project and not to hard even for a novice or someone just getting familiar with working with a resin body . It’s even better now that everything is easily available until next time thanks for looking, Mike
