  1. Your build looks great I agree Sox & Martin are high on the favorites list . For as nice and new as the revell kit is they really missed the mark on the body proportions it looks really chunky next to the fantastic johan body . Maybe just my opinion?
  2. Now that looks like it was a fun conversion build it looks spot on . Kinda a forgotten W J car from the 80’s that must’ve been from when he first secured the GM sponsorship I guess.
  3. Thanks it’s really a pretty nice basic kit just like the early funny cars were Unfortunately no I only have a 7’x8’ room which leaves very little room for display. Lucky for me I have some unclimate controlled space for unbuilt kits and box art collection.Really I’m just happy with that much, maybe down the road when I run out of kits to build I’ll add on a display area . Right now the road looks long
  4. I built this straight from the model king release of this kit I did swap out the kits headers with ones that I made from solder and aluminum tubing. Which was my first attempt at solder headers my skill set making them has definitely improved. I also shortened the injector stacks the body is painted with Testors Italian red lacquer . The front wheels are resin and the back wheels are from the AMT 62 bel air kit . The slicks are AMT parts pack . The modern rod cover is a great shot. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike
  5. Hey thanks Dennis the decals in the new kit look much better than the slixx decals that I used
  6. They all look great. The mustang is a real pleasure to build I’ve done about 14 so far . There’s a lot of decals available for that kit right now.
  7. The polar lights kit is a better rendition of the loggie chassis however I think I’ll try using the MPC chassis from the cougar when I build the 66 Dyno Don comet as it better represents the early loggie chassis. Plus I’ve been accumulating cougar parts kits as I have the need to build 5 of the 66 comets . The roll cage around the driver is very different and these cars evolved rapidly through the early years. Like in your photo the car has no pin stripes and in outer pitchers it has them. So maybe I’ll just leave them off .
  8. Well it’s not mine but that’s a fabulous paint job
  9. Yeah I masked them as I wanted the stripes to match the roof . I think it was the first time I bought masking tape just for building models. It had to be at least thirty five years ago which seems like a long time ago now.
  10. Thanks . The 67 body is from the AMT 1967 comet kit all I did was glue the hood shut and added a front bumper spoiler that i made from sheet styrene. I had to slide the engine and the drivers compartment forward in the chassis. All in all it all fit together pretty good.
  11. The Sox & Martin Plymouth is a great kit to build straight from the box . I built this one 30 + years ago right when it came out the paint is krylon white with Testors red , and Artic blue enamel. Also one of the first models I sprayed clear over. As for the Dyno Don comet it’s a straight up kit bash between the AMT 67 Comet and the Polar Lights 69-70 Mustang funny car . The paint is by testors gold base coat with a coat of metallic red topped with clear red . It looks like I got the color match right .Decals are by slixx . However I had a little more than a hard time with the white pin stripes I’ll have to try them again on another day. As for the cover I wanted something a little special for # 100 with these programs being seldomly seen plus the added bonus of two of my favorites Sox and Dyno . I was lucky enough to have met them both always professional . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike
  12. These were very fun builds nothing to complicated , and they really captured the look. AMT MACH WON KIT : body REVELL 1969 Boss 302 : interior , chassis, rear tail light panel , and engine block/transmission AMT 1971 Mustang : hood scoop intake & carbs , console cover , fire extinguisher, shifter AMT 1963 Impala : Dasiy rear wheels parts box : front wheels/ tires AMT OLD PRO Nova : slicks Slixx & Fred cady , and Jim heller : decals Tamyia : paint TS-26 white , TS-19 metallic blue scratch built : roll bar .080 styrene rod , headers solder and aluminum tubing. MPC malco gasser mustang , or AMT 1969 galaxie , or amt 1966 galaxie : sohc engine parts ie : heads , front timing chain cover , cam covers. Fan belt etc. until next time thanks for looking
  13. The 69 drag team cars to date .The cars are done building the haulers and trailers will come next. I still have to accumulate more parts for them. Plus the spring/summer/fall means busy with construction projects so modeling time drops off.
  14. This car has special meaning to me as I saw it run at ATCO’S nite of thrills sometime around 1990. I wore my Charlie carpenter shirt until it completely disintegrated . That you may knot no is they used a pale yellow 1956 Chevy sedan delivery with crager s/s wheels to tow it around the track as a support vehicle. Somewhere I have a photo I’ll have to really did deep to find it , but if I do I’ll post it here . I would suspect the decals would be on the thick side
  15. This is one that I built 9 years ago with out decals being available. Then along came Joe Curtis at Freemont Resin to make this great new decal sheet, and I finally get to finish it off. So a BIG THANKS OUT TO JOE . As for the build a lot when t into it I started out with the body from the revell charger kit and sliced and diced it to move the front wheel openings forward . The rest of the body is stock . I used a polar lights funny car for the donor kit for the chassis , interior tin , and engine . I made the roll bar from.080 styrene rod . The paint is testors diamond dust silver with Italian red lacquer topped with wet look clear. I know the magazine cover is a little bit of a stretch with just a small black and white photo how ever inside is a really well done informative article on Gary Dyer with some great reference photos of Mr. Norm’s cars . A few of which fall onto my very urgent to build list . Which means like mabe this year hopefully. Until next time thanks for looking, Mike
  16. Wow totally awesome dude and double wow on that revell spray chrome that really looks like the real thing
  17. Thanks it’ll be a few weeks till I get back from vac cay to get restarted on it hopefully I can get it done by the NNL East
  18. Jake king painted all his motors ford blue
  19. SMH resin body with transplanted quarter panels from the amt funny car donor kit . The small block Chevy is from the AMT parts pack with a cross ram intake sourced from the AMT 62 bel air kit I’ll also use the front wheels from this kit . The paint is a base coat of testors Inca gold lacquer with a light mist of lime ice lacquer. you basically have one shot of getting it right . It’s topped off wet look clear . The decals are yesteryear which are also available through Southern Motorsport Hobbies. You’ll need no be careful when lining up the donor quarter panels on the fast back body as the resin sands down at a faster rate than the styrene.
  20. It’s now sporting a fresh coat of lime gold paint. It came out sweet.
  21. We can only hope slixx will reprint the decals and mabe make improvements. As for the truck bodies we’ll have to keep our eyes out for a 3-d printed version. The big job dodge trucks of this era are a big missing link . I would like to build the Sox & Martin hauler along with snake & mongoose haulers. I would think that the snake & mongoose haulers would sell very well and warrant the cost of new tooling. They could also be used for the NASCAR contingent ie : petty
  22. You did an amazing restoration effort. As usual the paint work and photography / lighting look great. I also have a box of these restoration projects I just have a hard time getting inspired to build dragsters . Your builds now have me a little inspired. Thanks for showing them off
  23. You did a fantastic job here on my favorite model mopar . You might want to add the long traction bars they had on it
  24. Finish primer all ready for paint . Everything really fit together very well , and required very little prep work.
