  1. Totally awesome! A Nomad for the modern age
  2. I just checked it out, and it's coming out great. Right around photo 55, you gave me quite a surprise though - I thought for sure you were going to go with the textbook light gray interior, but instead you went with bright red! I LOVE black cars with bright red interiors. I'm definitely going to be keeping your build in mind for when I build the 83 Hurst in my stash. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Thanks John! I liked this model enough so I may have to get another one to turn into a Pro Street. Building OOB was therapeutic in this case, but really goes against my grain!
  4. Hello All, While working on a rather tedious and slow build, I decided to mix it up and throw a Revell "Quick Builder" model together of the 2013 Camaro ZL1. It's barely a level 3 build, as it already comes pre-painted and with many components molded together as major assemblies. Having said that, it has a very good level of detail and can certainly be dialed up to a full build for those so inclined. In my case, I only masked off the body in the engine compartment for an accurate look, and reshot the front strut towers with Testors "Revving Red" Extreme Lacquer which closely approximated the body color. The engine was a beauty, with lots of detail. The interior went together easily, and had a nice amount of detail - not quite as fine as the Revell Foose Corvette I recently did, but close. So with only one day in the books, I knocked this one out and will proudly add it to my collection. BTW, as the topside photo shows, I tinted the rear and side windows. If I hadn't already mentioned it, I like to get samples of automotive window tinting and cut them to size. I then either glue or tape them in position under the clear window. I find that I get a much more uniform appearance, and can vary the level of tint or color I want depending on the sample I use.
  5. Just a stunner in every aspect. My respect to you on the incredible realism you achieved!
  6. Totally sweet!
  7. Super cool. I'll be watching this build for sure!
  8. Between your wonderful choice of car, the exquisite build, the incredible photography - - - okay, you're just showing off!
  9. Happy Independence Day to you as well Sir!
  10. It's like watching a Swiss watch maker assemble a watch! So detailed and concise. Love it!

    Meyers Manx

Nothing puts a smile on my face like a Manx! Now I want to build one too! What model did you start with?
  12. I actually saw this car at last year's SEMA in the Chrysler booth. They were showcasing the electric motor, but I was more enjoying the fact that the Charger was again a two-door car.
  13. I LOVE how you let your creativeness run free! At this rate, you are going to be a master model maker in no time. Well done Michelle!
  14. Beautifully done Sir. Nice tribute to the best Batmobile since the TV series!
  15. That is the perfect blue for that car. Well done on the finish!
  16. Looking very tasty!
  17. Totally LOVING this build! Is it okay if I make a tiny suggestion.... BIGGER rear tires for all that power up front
  18. Great job on the wood grain. Quite an art to doing it right!
  19. I totally agree with you. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can find thinner piano wire and replace this one. Thank you.
  20. My son recently upgraded from a 2003 Jeep Rubicon to a 2023 4 door High Tide, and I decided to give him a 1:18 scale model of his vehicle as a gift. The closest I could come to his "Sting-gray" hardtop was a resin 2019 Jeep Rubicon in yellow made in limited numbers by GT Spirit (it amazes me that there are no other 1:18 scale models of the 4 door Jeeps, nor really any in other scales either). To get there, I had to take the entire model apart (do-able if you're careful as these resin builders use hot glue to bond the rudimentary parts together). The body went into an isopropyl alcohol bath for four days (the paint is super hard as though it is baked on, but luckily the resin is also quite tough). From there: - the hood vents were filled in with bondo and hood reprofiled. - interior repainted in tones of medium and dark gray, as well as black. - body painted in Tamiya gray TS-66 (the OEM Sting Gray was both too hot for the resin, and too dark in scale) - custom made High Tide and Jeep Wrangler decals on body. - antenna added with piano wire. - scratch built gas cap and inlet instead of filler door. - tires and rims from a 1:18 Maisto Ford Bronco (the rims looked very similar to the ones that came with my son's Extreme Recon Package, and the tires were the taller and wider profiles needed for the proper look) It came out pretty much right on the money when compared to the 1:1 vehicle. The only issue was that this was my first experience with a resin body, and I could not get it as smooth as I would have liked for a glossier paint job. Overall though, I am very pleased and will be looking forward to giving it to my son as a birthday gift in a couple of weeks. Here is the full size: And here it is in scale:
  21. Such a beautiful car to build Hanjo, and a place for you to showcase your artistic abilities beyond just assembly. Thank you for sharing!
  22. Wicked cool, Michelle! I like yours much better than the Hot Wheels version - - - especially your stance.
  23. Totally digging that paint job.
  24. Totally classy and classic Joe. Well done!
  25. Totally love the "stink" you put on it!
