  1. Sketches by Steve Stanford in HRM June 2008. I particularly like the Plymouth Duster UTE. Here a Duster turned Lead Sled, and another a Highboy. Both sweet! Some tricked out Fox bodies (the mid engine version appeals most to me) Beautiful roadsters and C-cab And last but not least, some variations on the first generation Monte Carlo
  2. I totally bit, hook - line- and sinker!
  3. The second car coming out of Detroit was the GM E85 Coupe built by Wheel to Wheel of Madison Heights. Wow!
  4. HRM April 2008 also had an article on two hot rods out of Detroit. The first was the Chrysler SR 392 built by Shadow Rods of Saginaw. Just the epitome of gorgeousness IMHO.
  5. BIg news in April 2008 that AMC was coming back - - - which did not materialize. However, the artwork in this article was quite inspiring
  6. If you're curious what 100 cars HRM picked as the most influential, check out their January 2008 issue.
  7. Well, I am now up to my 22nd scale model since starting my review in November of Hot Rod Magazine Online This purchase started out with an article in HRM November 2004 of the '64 Dodge Charger concept: @keyser was kind enough to let me know that I could base this build on an old Jo-Han model: And a little searching on this forum showed two who have built this very same model: And the WIP:
  8. Article on the return of the S.Co.T. supercharger, and all new parts for the flattie. Great photos as a bonus! HRM October 2007
  9. Great feature article on Hemisfear in HRM July 2007 with lots of drawings and photos.
  10. Jay Leno's over-the-top turbine powered "Eco-Jet"
  11. A '36 3-Window par excellence by Ray Dunham
  12. A more "honest" car in the same issue was the '73 XB Ford Falcon Coupe owned and raced since new by actor Eric Bana. At one point, Bana made a documentary about his relationship with this car, and a very interesting DVD it turned out to be.
  13. More discussions about the rat rod look - here referred to under the faddish term "shabby chic" The "before" picture and description, made all the more interesting by the fact that it describes this as a fiberglass car destined for its rusted look I for one say "to each his own", but the reactions to this car after application of its patina are HILARIOUS!
  14. Oh, and HRM March 2007 did do a feature article on this car upon completion with some great photos!
  15. To be rounded out by a very cool home-made sports car. What made this one particularly interesting is the ingenious way the builder incorporated the cockpit area of a '93 Camaro into his creation.
  16. And, a tricked out '63 Austin Healey 3000 MkII
  17. Then, quite possibly the sweetest looking car to ever grace the pages of HRM; a Volvo P1800S hot rod! This one has already got me looking for scale models
  18. Next up, a fascinating '35 Chevy done up like a circle-track racer
  19. HRM March 2007 was titled "Dare to be Different", and had some phenomenal - and different - cars to be sure! The cover had the '73 Camaro racer known as "F-Bomb". This car gets a nod from me based on name alone
  20. Don Stellhom's '64 Pontiac GTO race car. HRM December 2006
  21. A little blip on the movie "Cars" which was just hitting theaters in 2006. I totally think this movie belongs in any car movie collection, and to prove my point - here is a photo of Lightning McQueen being displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum!
  22. What a fun article on a great car! The '51 Studebaker Commander Starlight Coupe racer known as "Chicken Hawk" - apparently raced for over 40 years, and a genuine 10 second car with attitude to match! HRM August 2006
  23. BTW; for those wishing to wade into the deep end of the pool and make their own Cadzzilla, I found a great site with a ton of photos showing how Craig Naff did the body starting with a 1948 Cadillac Sedanette... https://www.customcarchronicle.com/forums/topic/cadzilla-the-craig-naff-files/ p.s. I also looked it up, and the correct spelling of the car apparently is "CadZZilla".
  24. Nice article on Craig Naff - dubbed the Quiet Craftsman - ostensibly because of the wonderful work he had done, and yet how little his name was known. I couldn't agree more, as I too was unaware this was the gentleman that did the bodywork on a myriad of famous cars, including Cadzzilla and Smoothster. Here in the forefront was a stretched '33 Roadster with removable hardtop. HRM August 2006 Here is the car at the 2007 Detroit Autorama
  25. So cool to learn these things! Thank you
