Dennis, your woody is coming out beautiful! I love how you're taking a mish-mash of parts and making them go together like a fine Swiss watch. Frankly, I'm more than a little jealous

Hey, wait a minute! You're a ringer, aren't you? This job you're doing is WAY too good for a beginner!

Sooo beautiful! I have been putting parts together for a few years to build one of these in 1:25th scale, and didn't even know Franklin Mint had made it. Thanks for sharing

Just beautiful! Mine was a mish-mash of different tires and wheels, so I had to go elsewhere for a set.

The detail and workmanship is outstanding! Totally enjoying watching your Eleanor come together!

Watching with great anticipation!

Thank you Ismael, that means a lot coming from you. I did the AstroVette not too long ago, and used the aluminum hubcaps you designed!

Thank you. It is 1:43

Ever since I saw the Corvette Astro II concept at their Bowling Green museum, I have wanted one in scale for my collection. Sadly, I have never been able to find a 1:18 or 1:24 diecast - which would have been my first and second choices. My third option is always to look for the unattainable as a scale model which I can build myself, however in this case - again no bueno. So, I was left with the only representation of this car I could find in the Italian toy manufacturer Sputofuoco and their 1:43 scale toy version. I picked up a beat up one online, and by combining it with some Vitesse Porsche GT2 rolling stock, came up with what you see here. A shout out to my fellow Corvette lover @ismaelg on this unobtainium concept car! Here is the actual car My Sputofuoco beater Cleaned up and Porsche side mirror added Got this one online for cheap because the display case was broken. Gorgeous rims and tires though! And after some Krylon X Metals2301 Blue, voila! I should probably paint the rims chrome, but they look so beautiful in two tone that I'm thinking of leaving it. I'm telling myself the actual car went through many iterations itself, so this one will just be the latest BTW; I have no idea if I'm posting this in the right place. After all, this is a bit of a model build, a little WIP, with some diecast and toy thrown in.

Lovin this build and the fact that it was your daughter's pick. I too would have gone with the #3 rims and the low ride. Looking forward to seeing it when it's done!

I love your paint job, and love the 1:1

MUSTANG XP-R : a 71 fastback pro-touring concept with a REAR ENGINE
ea0863 replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
I love the exterior (and color), the interior is beautiful, the engine compartment is fascinating, and even underneath is a work of art. What a stunner! -
Bellisimo! Now I need to pull mine out of the pile and build it - - - hopefully it'll come out half as nice as yours

Manuel, your creations are awesome! I remember seeing a Glastron boat in the water a few years ago that looked like a 50's Chevy, and thinking what a neat mash-up that was. And here, you have taken it to a whole other level!

What an original build you've got going here! It's got a little of this, and a little of that - but I'm not sure what you're building has ever been done before! Check these out from old Hot Rod Magazine articles. Maybe they'll give you some ideas...

Really enjoying watching your build!

And that, friends, brings us to the end of this little project I started 3 months ago. Together, we traversed 74 years of Hot Rod Magazine and roughly 110,000 pages of wonderful hot rod history and Americana. I, for one, found lots of inspiration - which translated to 22 new models I purchased, along with a bunch of engines, tires/wheels, bodies, and sundry supplies. I will now take a brief respite from these reviews and again encourage those of you finding interest, learning, and/or inspiration from HRM to post here. With 15,000+ views so far, and over 800 posts, hopefully we are putting a searchable library together for reference in future builds. Take care and be well!

With February 2022 being the last issue of Hot Rod Magazine available free online, we have another wonderful example of the retro-mod era with a '69 Chevelle.

From HRM January 2022 came a surprising article about the '72 DeTomaso Pantera. I guess due to its Ford engine and connections, it was considered a part of the hot rod fraternity Lots of great photos to aid in building this Italian/American/Argentinian beauty!

Hi Jon, please forgive me if I'm giving you information you already know, but in my case I had great luck using solder to make custom exhaust pipes on a fantasy build I did last year named "Heresy". Here's a picture:

HRM December 2021 had this drawing of the Troy Ladd '32 Coupe, but I'm here to tell you - the drawing does not do the car justice! I saw the car at this year's SEMA, and it is GORGEOUS. I must have taken a hundred close-ups for reference when I get around to building it in scale. Here are some pictures of it completed:
