  1. Daniel, I am amazed by your skills and ingenuity! That mockup is so stunning that it will almost be a shame to see paint on it
  2. I LOVE the patina. The whole vehicle looks like a well-worn comfy leather chair you just fall into!
  3. Patrick, after going through this thread, I can answer your question "Anybody else also a fan of Juha Airio?" by stating, "I am now!" Thank you for posting
  4. Ah, yes. An homage to Ken Imhoff - the man who built a stunning charcoal grey Countach from scratch in his basement over a 17 year period... and then had to figure out a way to get it out!
  5. Wicked cool, Martin! And I'm with you; if I'm looking for a stock version of a car, I prefer to just buy it in diecast (if available). I try to reserve my model building for the ability to try out new ideas, or to build a car otherwise not available. I saw a few of these lowrider creations at last year's SEMA, and the engraving was my favorite part. You haven't lived till you've seen an alternator done up like a piece of jewelry!
  6. I love the body just the way it is in sanded out primer!
  7. Such a beauty! It's so interesting that one can look at a 1:1 custom car build and approximate the period in which it was built by the techniques, paints, design cues, etc. from that period. And here, we can see the same thing in a scale model as well. Thank you for posting!
  8. What an unbelievable creation! And to think, there are at least three parts on there from an Impala
  9. I am totally with Martin on this one! Cannot wait to see what you do with colors!
  10. Makes me wish I were a 1:12 scale person just so I could enjoy your Countach all the more! BTW, have you picked a body color yet? Not trying to suggest anything, but I still have my Alpine Countach poster from 1980!...
  11. Totally digging it. Thank you for posting!
  12. Karl Benz is rolling over in his grave as we speak. Love it!
  13. Looking forward to your creation. Wilder the better, I say!
  14. Tasteful and unique! I'll be enjoying following this build
  15. Oh my, that is tasty! Now it will need a name to compete with the likes of "Chezoom" and "CadZZilla"
  16. I'm now convinced; some of the best stuff comes from the parts bin and our imagination! Fantastic build!
  17. I love that you kept it "stock". So lovely in those colors. Well done!
  18. Niko, wonderful job on your project! It's nice to see I'm not the only one that sets a project down for a few years and picks it up again later. Take it from a guy who has been a cop for 30 years though - your car will need a few dents and some empty McDonald's wrappers on the front seat to become 100% authentic
  19. Sooo sweet! Cannot wait to see it completed
  20. Tim, thank you so much for reposting this article! I too was unaware of the connection between drag boats and hot rods until I reviewed the 70+ years of Hot Rod Magazine recently and saw the clear connection. The incredible array of engines and exotic configurations alone made the boats a part of the "hot rod" family.
  21. Dennis, your woody is coming out beautiful! I love how you're taking a mish-mash of parts and making them go together like a fine Swiss watch. Frankly, I'm more than a little jealous
  22. Hey, wait a minute! You're a ringer, aren't you? This job you're doing is WAY too good for a beginner!
  23. Sooo beautiful! I have been putting parts together for a few years to build one of these in 1:25th scale, and didn't even know Franklin Mint had made it. Thanks for sharing
  24. Just beautiful! Mine was a mish-mash of different tires and wheels, so I had to go elsewhere for a set.
  25. The detail and workmanship is outstanding! Totally enjoying watching your Eleanor come together!
