I can agree with that statement that most are not this good but I think the same thing is true about resin casters there are plenty of them out there that make stuff that for lack of better words is hot garbage and then there are some who are really good The same thing can be said about just any profession there's good plumbers there's good electricians there's good car mechanics there's also ones who are well for lack a better words I wouldn't let them touch my property with a 10-ft pole The issue I have with resin casting is it's kind of like carbureted engines there were some really good ones out there and they're still a niche for them but as a general rule everything's fuel injected it's easier to maintain the proper air fuel ratios it's more efficient I mean direct injections taking over port injection I really think 3D printing is taking over res and casting there might be a few scenarios where resin casting is still more viable and I can think of a couple off the top of my head but as a general rule the niche market of aftermarket is headed to 3D printing

Don't be too sure on that Scott you have to make sure that you understand that right now you haven't hit that big engine with me yet What even with all these smaller engines of me going full-time I'm not saying you're going to make 200 grand a year modeling for me but I think we might be able to overtime say 10 years make it a steady check you could use between that and social security I'm going to have to scale up big time to get to that level though

But why would you cast something that's 3D printed that doesn't make sense to me because you can just print more That's like saying hey I've got an aluminum block let me make a mold for it and cast it in iron with the exception of the fact that the cast iron block can hold more boost than an aluminum block but still it doesn't make sense
-
Also I can scan real engines and make CAD files from them, doesn't get any closer than that, between the two of us the amount of varieties and base engines is growing quite quickly, perhaps too quickly. But I will say you do some fantastic design work, sometimes I question if I should even try anymore.

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you need more than just the hood like the fenders to match the raised hoodline -

So I am asking seriously, is that a desirable intake? I mean I could have done that ages ago but never would have ever thought about it ever. The cross ram intake I did with DCOE'S was wild enough for my taste. -

So I finally finished up the Jackman wheels to go along with my Baja Bug kit, I also have the centerlines modeled up and will test print them when I have time but probably tonight or tomorrow. They can be found on my site at Texas 3D Customs Off Road Tires and Wheels -

I can't find a model for that generation only 77 but I can keep looking the problem is is having a full body design is very expensive and I don't have time to design a full car
-
What Body are you looking for maybe I can help you out

Man it's just the way you say things sometimes I mean everything you said was factual!?!?!? Making the 14 years in bold It's just the way you said it came off kind of snarky I didn't say anything about it but that's how I saw it too to let you know that I agree it did seem off kind of harsh in fact I almost posted Don't have to be so harsh they're nicer ways to go about saying hey this is probably non-existent anymore.

Well I was sent to the garage way before that

Working on this and some other things like a better Slant 6 which I definitely thank Oldmopars for all the help he has been for me. -
I agree a printer or two in a basement not a problem if ventilated, 13 printers and all the ancillary equipment full of alcohol and well in Texas we dont have basements is not happening. I am not saying its impossible just you need something like that, for me the equivalent to the basement is the garage and you can smell it in my front yard, but I am a little more equipped than the home user. I encourage people to get into the printing hobby, but I am very straight forward that its not all sunshine and rainbows. I do think you just need to plan for the hobby that's all.

I do think though the mess and smell of resin printing is one of it's biggest drawbacks. Even before I was selling my resin printer was banished to the garage by my boss.

While I agree you don't need to be a computer expert It's not quite as simple as you are making it out to be anybody who has half of mind can figure out how to do it and do it pretty good I think that if you're fine with the run the mill files that are out there then you don't need to learn to design you can make a lot of stuff and there are tons of things out there you start talking about ultra detailed models things that are above what you normally find on Cults3D then you get into wanting to learn the design or at least modifying other people's designs. It's a pretty fun hobby but at the same time you can get us some really frustrating things what you paid for your Mars 2 back then can be done a lot cheaper now for say a Mars 3 plus washing cure You're probably looking at 300 to 350. Now if you want to start printing bodies at 1:24/25 scale I recommend at least getting something like a Saturn 2

Outlaw Trophy Resins

I agree most if not all of his products are available on 3D file sites, but his prices are really generous from what I have seen. I wouldn't even touch those large items for the price he asks, but 12+ weeks lead time is abysmal and I feel bad at a maximum of 5 workdays. The biggest issue is when you show the pictures from the file site instead of your printed product, always a red flag to me. Quality may be great and for the price if you can wait 12+ weeks it may be a good product. But you are outside if PP protection at 12 weeks...
