questions on resin printed 3-d parts??
Texas_3D_Customs replied to oldr-n-drt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You don't need to clean prints if they were cleaned well from whoever made them, but alcohol wipes work well if they are sticky. You can primer them with just about any primer I use acrylic primer and it will help hide any layer lines depending on the quality of the part. -
Confused about 3d printing

I completely understand your frustrations I generally don't do full kits I'm making an exception for the semi stuff because those are expensive anyways but 3D printing is difficult to do big things like that and you'll see plenty of posts people showing artifacts on bodies I can do them pretty good but you know if I'm going to devote a $3,000 printer for 12 to 14 hours to print a full kit mostly just the body it just doesn't make sense to sell it for 30 bucks in fact that's a net loss probably. Like I said I'm not trying to bash you or anything just saying there's there's a reason that they demand those prices unlike injection molding you can't pump out a thousand kits in a couple days. -

Also understand that unlike the box kits these aren't injected molded by the thousands in 30 seconds, yes I worked injected molding for a short bit. The time put into printing cleaning shipping is a lot more than what Revell puts into a kit. -

First you need a model of the print which really is one of the more difficult parts of it you need to learn CAD or surface modeling Fusion 360 blender 3DS Max solid works inventor these are all programs used for making 3D models though some are CAD which is more constraint driven exact dimensions and geometry then there's surface modeling like blender which you're kind of just creating the outer shell of the object So once you have a 3D model then you can print it, but you either make it easy to print or learn to print really well -

So I am working on all my 15" drag wheels and everything is split now so you can pick from a selection of tires or no tires at all. Or for that matter no wheels just tires. There are also more size options like 15x15 and some wheels are getting two front runner sizes 15 and 17 -
You're taking me out of context here, I am saying it may not be exactly a certain year as year to year there are slight nuances, will probably do one that's fuel injected and like the pictures, but even if I didn't it would be a better starting point than what else is available. I will say it won't have all the hoses and what have you little bits, but it will have the nipples/connectors for them.

I'm going to go to Kansas where there's a race car fab shop guys real nice going to let me come in and scan his 300 not only does he have all the parts for it has also has an LS head conversion that I'm going to do so it'll be a while but I will be making it I'm not sure if I'm going to do exactly the version that you're looking for though but it will be extremely accurate more accurate than anything else out there

So here's how things work I make it this way with the belts and the alternator is where it goes on that engine and that's not going to work in 100% of the applications that I make an engine like my LS which has no belts and you can pick and choose which ones and then complete will complain that there's no belts I'm not making 30 different versions of where the alternator can go it doesn't make sense I'm not making two because then I have to either ship double the parts or I have to sell double the different variations just because we want to put an alternator here there I mean there's only so much I can do sure I could make a hundred different combinations but I already offer more combinations and just about anybody else I mean most of the time when you buy an aftermarket engine you get the transmission that they say goes with that engine you don't get say nine different GM transmissions two different coyote transmissions that are accurate I think I've got four different BOP transmissions I've got multiple variations of intakes on several engines and there's only so many things you can make you start making upgrade parts where relocate this relocate that pay extra money and people aren't going to be happy with that either not only that but again I can only do so much growth is not an issue at this point. As far as exhaust systems and making mount useless you're going to have to get creative if the motor doesn't just slot right in but pretty much all those exhaust systems are based on real assistance so they can work in one shape fashion or form but I can't make an exhaust system for every kit or even multiple kits for that matter. -

Dropped the Stock Nailhead and is no longer available, but adding this instead. If this does well I will do other variations like Webbers and other non stock setups. The reason the stock has to go is its pretty much a completely different engine all together with only the oil pan manifolds and belts being shared. With that many differences I don't find it wise to stock an engine that doesn't sell. The prints are done and I will list it tomorrow probably. -
Resin hemi engines
Texas_3D_Customs replied to customsrus's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have a 426 Hemi in several variations made from scanning a real 1:1 never assembled engine I also have a 1st gen "Firepower" hemi in a few variations as well as a modern Hellcat if that counts as a true Hemi. -
All right guys so after a lot of getting really upset with the whole deal going back and changing things some help from Scott well he did the most of it I just had to go in and put my two cents in but this is where I'm at I will be doing it here's some pictures of the body it will come with a full interior one air ride seat one sitting on a box the tub the dash the steering wheel windshield wipers turn signal housings lenses for the headlights and the turn signals those are going to be printed and clear resin which is clear-ish it is kind of foggy but spray with some clear coat and it gets a lot better. Price is going to be $100 that shipped in America is takes significant amount of time four different print runs that doesn't produce just one but still four different printer runs one for the body one for the tub one for the interior and one for the lenses. The kit will come remove from the supports but the bracing on the inside to keep the body square keep warping from happening throughout the whole process will need to be cut off side cutters should work fine obviously there's an order you're going to want to do them in not rocket science or anything but you're going to want to cut what you can get to and as you cut those out the layers above it will easily be reachable I mean I don't even know why I had to say that but there you go tell me what you guys think I should have this ready maybe tomorrow I've got the bodies done I'm starting the tubs and the interior now and the lenses but for sure Monday. I think the surface finish came out extremely well there might be some defects here or there nothing that a little sanding won't fix that back right corner seems to always have a little bit of surface defect but you can't even feel it with your finger but you can see it Little bit of filler primer and a little sanding thing will be smooth as can be.
