  1. Nice and I started mine today
  2. My grandson is 11 and he has built a few snap kits from Revell and he wants an easier starter glue kit. We have worked on a few kits together and I think he is ready. What would you suggest?
  3. I will post a few more pictures with my camera now that I have it figured out. Thanks
  4. Sorry about the lousy pictures from my phone. I have a new camera and took pictures with it but they were too large to download. Thanks
  5. I started this car a few years ago when I had my 1968 Charger 1:1 car and wanted to replicate it. I have since sold the Charger (sad) it was an 38000 mile survivor, but finishing up the model this week. I need to do some correcting on the chassis / body fit and attach the rear bumper but overall I am about finished. This is an orginal 1968 Charger MPC kit. If you have built one you know they are not entirely accurate. The roof panel has the incorrect emblem behind the Charger signature that is not on the 1:1 car and the interior has an incorrect console. The stripes and side markers are from Keith Mark's decals. I used the orignal white paint from MCW Paints for a 1968 Dodge and tried to replicate a closer finish to my 68 Charger so I did not use clear coat. It polishes out very well. Thanks for looking
  6. I used the MPC Dart kit to build a Dodge Dart Hang Ten about three years ago. I used Keith Mark's decals. It came out pretty well
  7. Got a call from my LHS this am they have a Cuda in. I am picking it up today.
  8. Great Job.
  9. Me too on the vendors from EBAY. I don't think mine is shipped yet and I thought it would be by Saturday.
  10. When I get mine I plan to start it right away. I am finishing an original 68 MPC Charger this week. I have everything ready but I don't have the kit and my local hobby shop doesn't have them. I bought one off EBAY and I assume I should get it within this week.
  11. great build
  12. I believe the strope stripe in green is V4J. I think Peter Sessler's Red Book on Mopar Muscle cars is pretty accurate. I am Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer and I wonder what it would be like to try to release a spec book in say 10 years with all of the changes that Chrysler makes on a regular basis today esp Challengers. Though I think it would be easier today with the internet and the wealth of information out there. I have to say I have learned quite a bit about Cuda's in the past week! From what all of you have shared and doing digging on my own on the internet. Thanks everyone.
  13. This is a better link I believee http://www.richardandkarencarpenter.com/index.html
  14. Tim you are right about updates on the Hamtramck sight. I have used it quite a bit for original info on my 1975 Roadrunner. You know Ricahrd Carpenter from the singing group has an original non restored 70 Cuda 440+6. It has a red stripe on it and I remember reading an article years ago about the car and I believe the car hasn't been restored. It has a red stripe. Here is a link http://www.richardandkarencarpenter.com/Auto-04%201970%20Plymouth%20Barracuda%20'Cuda.htm Thanks everyone for all the info I have learned through these posts. I thought I knew everything about 70 Cuda's but I was wrong.
  15. Well here is a link that answers my question about stripes etc. http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/colorAndTrim/1970/70_Plymouth_Tops_Stripes_Accents0004.jpg Btw this is a great sight that I use often.
  16. I always assumed you could get the white stripe in 1970. Was the red available in 1970? I am at the office and so all of my books are at home.
  17. Btw since we have been debating this Shaker color topic. I did see on one of the forums that there was at least one B3 Ice Blue Shaker 70 Cuda that was seen in the early 80's and the Shaker was painted Ice Blue. The car was a low miles survivor.
  18. Tim I am going to assume the blue color that the Shaker was offered in was B5?
  19. Keith Mark's decals. He has the correct decals with a nice rear panel decal. I think Missing Link has nice rear taillight lenses.
  20. Back in 2000 I had a FE5 Red AAR Cuda and it did not have rocker moldings. I drove it to an event from Northern Indiana to Augusta Ga back in 2000 or 2001. It was a 4speed and a pretty nice car. It was a fun but a hot drive. I came home and pulled the car in front of my house and the clutch gave out. Great timing! Beautiful car and quite frankly a nice handling car around the southern roads. I sold it later that year. I thought the rockers were an option but I stand corrected. This has been a great post and I have enjoyed reading the notes on the build of the Cuda on Tim's sight. Tim when will the magazine be released with your article? Thanks again
  21. Tim thanks for your input as I haven't received my Kit yet. I hope I will get it this week. I was looking at a Reliable Resin front grill bumper assembly I bought a few years back. It has a separate grill insert that you would paint black and it does have a raised section for the stripe/moulding down the center of each side. Since I don't have the Revell kit yet I have been using the body etc to test items like doing the side molding on the side etc. I never built the resin conversion that I bought from them. Looking at that front grill assembly this afternoon and using an Evergreen strip that comes as .25mm x .5mm it looks like that would be about the right size for the red stripe. I may try adding that on both sides. I don't know if it will work or not.
  22. I cannot tell in Tim's picture but on a Cuda grill there should be a red molding down the center of each grill side. I not sure if Revell added it to the grill centers or not. The body of the car and Tim's build looks right to me. I love it.
  23. I cannot wait to buld it. Thanks Tim
